Pei Xiaoman is working hard to help her father.
Winter mornings are very cold, as everyone knows. Pei Xiaoman is vigorously kneading the dough; she poured hot water on it at first, but it cooled down quickly, making her frostbitten hands sowhat numb.
But that’s good, frostbite doesn’t itch when it’s cold, it’s terrible when it itches once it’s warm.
Pei Xiaoman wears a thin down jacket, tied with an apron, and she keeps herself busy.
At the shop entrance, there are several large stears, slowly emitting steam. Pei Mingyuan is guarding them but doesn’t really move.
There’s hardly anyone in the shop, Pei Mingyuan inadvertently glances at the street opposite, where another breakfast shop stands, bustling with people.
"Dad!"
A gentle voice softly sounded beside him.
Pei Mingyuan quickly ca back to his senses and said with a smile: "Sorry, sorry, I was distracted, what’s up?"
Pei Xiaoman pouted unhappily: "What is there to apologize for between us..." With that, Pei Xiaoman suddenly lowered her head with an apologetic tone, "I should be the one apologizing instead."
Pei Mingyuan smiled helplessly.
The competitor’s business is booming. It’s only been a month, and it’s almost taken all of their business away.
But Pei Mingyuan didn’t lose his temper or drown his sorrows in alcohol, nor did he vent his emotions on others because he knew that would achieve nothing.
Pei Mingyuan sighed gently, "You are my good daughter. I have never blad anyone; life is unpredictable. Our food is not as tasty as theirs, so there’s no need to be discouraged. Just do what we can."
Pei Xiaoman was a bit anxious: "But their thods are despicable, they used..."
"Shut up!"
Pei Mingyuan interrupted Pei Xiaoman, "It’s getting late, you have to be at work at nine, hurry up and get ready."
Pei Xiaoman wanted to say sothing but was in a predicant, eventually said in a bit of a playful pout: "I’ll finish up the minced at and then go!" With that, Pei Xiaoman hurried into the back kitchen.
Watching his sowhat upset daughter, Pei Mingyuan felt extrely helpless. Didn’t he know what his daughter was talking about? But the owner of the opposite shop was backed by a foreman of a nearby construction site, who had connections with the district governnt officials.
No match for them!
Pei Mingyuan sighed a bit as he saw a man with a full beard approaching, wearing a vest exposing both arms, almost looking as if he weren’t wearing anything.
"Boss, give five at buns," Fang Yi walked in, went over to a pot of porridge, picked up a bowl, and ladled a bowl of porridge.
Pei Mingyuan brought over five at buns and asked with concern, "Young man, aren’t you cold wearing so little?"
Fang Yi said, "Got used to it."
Pei Mingyuan gave an ’oh,’ suddenly slapped his head, "Oh, let tell you, I suddenly rembered sothing. More than ten years ago, there was a young guy who dressed just like you, running outside wearing a vest and shorts for exercise in the winter."
As if trying to confirm sothing, Pei Mingyuan stared at Fang Yi closely, but however he looked, he felt it didn’t resemble that young guy.
The young guy back then was wild, nicknad the Little Demon King, how long has it been since anyone heard about him?
Moreover, if that young guy really ca here, he surely would recognize him; Pei Mingyuan must be overthinking.
