382: Chapter 406, Do You Like Her?
The entire car hadn’t fallen into the ditch; only the front had plunged in.
The red paint must have been scraped off quite a bit, and as for whether any parts of the front end had been damaged, that was anyone’s guess.
Fang Yi considered himself second to none when it ca to driving skills.
He had even beaten professional racers, but damn it…
to have driven straight into a ditch, this was the biggest stain on his life, a stain that no amount of washing could cleanse.
Then there were these seemingly kind villagers around him.
Fang Yi couldn’t shake the feeling that they were taking pleasure in his misfortune, whispering and pointing at him.
Fang Yi was exasperated beyond words.
He dreaded to think what Xu He would say if she saw him now.
“Aunties and uncles, brothers and sisters, could you not just stand there and watch?
Who can help lift the car up?” Fang Yi looked around hopefully as he asked.
But the villagers just pushed each other back and forth, with none of them stepping forward.
A few kids around seven or eight years old ca forward instead.
One of them, who bore a striking resemblance to Red Boy, asked, “Uncle, if we help, do we get so candy?”
“Uh…
Scram, kid,” Fang Yi waved his hands dismissively.
He then looked at the red Audi in the ditch.
Great, he’d have to do it himself.
Fang Yi rolled up his sleeves and jumped into the pit.
Thankfully, it hadn’t rained; otherwise, the ditch would have been an absolute muddy ss.
When Fang Yi leaped into the ditch, one of the aunties said, “Young man, what are you trying to do?
You think you’re Li Yuanba or sothing?
That car is so heavy, can you lift it by yourself?”
Fang Yi replied with a wry smile, “Auntie, you know about Li Yuanba too, eh?
If I can’t lift it, then why won’t any of you help?”
Still, nobody moved, only a few kids circled around Fang Yi, who were soon scolded and sent back by adults.
Fang Yi had no choice but to attempt it alone.
He took off his jacket and fiercely grabbed the front of the car, straining to lift it upwards.
Now, Fang Yi was of Earth Level strength.
He used to be able to lift a small yacht, so what was a car to him?
So, to the amazent of the crowd, the front end of the car in the ditch actually moved.
The previously skeptical auntie exclaid, “He really is Li Yuanba!
Such trendous strength…”
Xu He dashed towards the village entrance, taking two steps at a ti.
When she arrived, she saw a crowd of villagers who clearly gathered to watch the commotion.
She quickly squeezed through the crowd and spotted Fang Yi, shirtless, trying to lift the car on his own.
Without a second thought, Xu He leapt into the ditch.
“Xu He, it’s dirty in the ditch, don’t jump down there!” soone shouted.
But Xu He had already jumped in, and Fang Yi, aware of her presence, turned his head and saw it was indeed Xu He.
“Hey, what are you doing jumping in here as a woman?
Get out!” Fang Yi chided.
Xu He turned her head defiantly and said, “If you can jump in, why can’t I?”
Fang Yi said, “Because I’m a man!” He wanted to add that this was a ss of his own making.
But Xu He didn’t care and started lifting with all her might.
Fang Yi sighed, too lazy to argue anymore.
The car was almost out of the ditch, and with a forceful concentration of his power in his hands and a low shout, the red Audi finally moved backward, out of the ditch.
Fang Yi exhaled with relief, then turned with a somber expression to look at Xu He by his side.
“Why…
why are you looking at like that?” Xu He felt sowhat uneasy.
“Why was your phone off when I called?”
“…
The battery died.”
“Do you realize I’ve been looking for you all day long?”
“I…
I…” Xu He was startled.
Looking at the man with a stern face and mud on his cheeks, Xu He felt even more guilty.
He had been searching for her all day?
“I’m sorry,” Xu He bowed her head in apology.
Although Fang Yi still felt angry inside, seeing Xu He like this, he couldn’t possibly yell at or hit her, could he?
“Never mind, never mind, let’s not talk about that.
Where can I take a bath?
Let wash up before we go on,” Fang Yi said.
Xu He smiled happily and said, “Follow .”
A few minutes later, Fang Yi arrived at Xu He’s house, took a bucket of cold water, washed off the mud and gri, got dressed, and went out to the yard.
Xu He’s grandfather was still lying on a wicker chair smoking, gazing up at the stars.
“Young man, what’s your na?” the old Mr.
Xu asked.
“Fang Yi, your granddaughter’s friend,” Fang Yi replied with a smile.
“Boyfriend?”
“Uh…”
Old Mr.
Xu said, “Doesn’t seem like it.
But if you’re not her boyfriend, why did you co all this way to find her?
Could it be you like her?”
Fang Yi naturally couldn’t tell the old man about Xu He’s matters.
He looked around and then brought over a small stool to sit down beside him, giving a thumbs-up, “Grandpa, you’re incredibly perceptive, right on the mark.”
Old Mr.
Xu laughed proudly, “Of course!”
To prevent old Mr.
Xu from asking too much, Fang Yi decided to play along with the misunderstanding.
At this point, Xu He walked out of the house and saw Fang Yi sitting next to her grandfather.
She said, “The noodles are ready.
Co in and eat.”
Fang Yi responded and got up, and suddenly old Mr.
Xu said, “My granddaughter, Fang Yi is a good guy.
Make sure you don’t let him down.”
Xu He appeared puzzled and looked at Fang Yi with an expression that said, ‘What did you tell my grandfather?’
Inside the house, a middle-aged couple was watching TV, none other than Xu He’s parents.
“Hello, Uncle and Auntie,” Fang Yi greeted them with a smile.
“Xiao Fang, the noodles are ready, eat up.
Auntie fried a couple of extra eggs for you, but the noodles were cooked by Hehe,” Xu He’s mother said with a smile and then nudged Xu He’s father.
At first, Xu He’s father didn’t understand, but after catching the wink from Xu He’s mother, he suddenly realized and they discreetly left the room.
Only Fang Yi and Xu He were left in the hall.
Fang Yi glanced at the plate of fried egg noodles sprinkled with green onions on the table, “Looks good, and it must taste great too.”
Saying so, he began to eat.
These noodles were indeed cooked by Xu He.
Hearing Fang Yi’s comnts, Xu He slightly blushed—it was her first ti cooking noodles for another man.
Fang Yi ate and found it indeed delicious, praising it as he did.
Xu He was initially worried, but seeing Fang Yi’s complints, she relaxed and breathed a sigh of relief, then sat down opposite him.
“How…
How did you end up in the ditch?” Xu He ant to ask ‘How did you co here?’ but changed her question at the last mont.
“It was dark, I didn’t see it, probably because I was a bit tired,” Fang Yi said casually.
“Why did you think of coming to find ?” Xu He asked sowhat nervously.
“I saw that news,” Fang Yi slowed down and looked up at Xu He, “You went through such a big ordeal, why didn’t you tell and Shen Binnan?
Were you worried it would concern us?”
Xu He pursed her lips and nodded guiltily.
Fang Yi gave a wry smile, “But don’t you know, being out of touch like this makes people even more worried.”
Xu He quietly said, “I’m sorry.”
“Don’t say sorry.
If you say those three words again, I’m leaving imdiately,” Fang Yi declared.
Xu He quickly shook her head.
Fang Yi finished the remaining noodles in his bowl in one go, wiped his mouth, and then said, “Regarding that scandal, I’ve already investigated.
It was done by Jiang Lili’s adulterous partner.”
Xu He bit her lip and asked, “Does Jiang Lili’s partner co from a powerful background?”
Fang Yi nodded, “Very powerful, the top leader of Southern Domain City.”
