501: Chapter 537, Gold Mine 501: Chapter 537, Gold Mine Under the beam of the flashlight, the object in Fang Yi’s hand shimred with a golden luster, unmistakably — gold!
Yes, it was gold!
Both of them were shocked, staring at the fingertip-sized piece of gold, unable to speak for a long ti.
After a while, Shen Binnan said unsettledly, “How could there be…
this thing here?!”
Fang Yi shrugged and rolled his eyes, “You ask , but whom should I ask?” After a little while, Fang Yi said, “Give the flashlight.” Shen Binnan handed him the flashlight as told.
Fang Yi, holding the flashlight, wandered near the stone gate.
Although it seed he was strolling, Fang Yi was very careful, not overlooking any suspicious details, but he didn’t find any clue after a thorough search.
“It’s not right; gold wouldn’t just appear out of nowhere.
There must be sothing fishy here, I just haven’t found it yet…” Fang Yi muttered to himself, sowhat obsessed.
“Maybe soone ca here and dropped it by accident,” suggested Shen Binnan.
Fang Yi chuckled slightly and said, “You were just clever, and now you turn dumb all of a sudden.
If soone really dropped gold here, they would turn over every inch of soil to find it… Besides, this place is so desolate, do you think anyone would be as bored as us to co here in the middle of the night?”
Shen Binnan was left speechless.
Fang Yi continued his obsessive search.
With a determined and absolute mindset, Fang Yi searched the cave for any trace and perhaps, as fate would have it, he finally found an inconspicuous clue that shocked him profoundly.
A patch of mud on the cave wall was golden.
No, rather than calling it mud, it was better to say it was a chunk of gold!
Gold that hadn’t been refined!
Shen Binnan also ca over and saw Fang Yi start scraping the cave wall with a dagger, subsequently revealing more and more gold, all unexposed, natural gold.
“This… this… could there be…” Even though Shen Binnan was usually composed, at this mont, seeing this scene, she too was shocked.
Fang Yi lit a cigarette, his hand trembling because this discovery made his heart pound.
Taking a deep drag of the smoke, Fang Yi slowly said, “Yes, we’ve found…
a gold mine!”
…
…
Coming out of the park, Shen Binnan’s chest was still heaving dramatically due to the shock of what they had just seen, a discovery so astonishing it felt like a dream.
“Shen Binnan, tell , how exactly did you find that place?” Fang Yi asked, a cigarette dangling from his mouth, though he had cald down a bit.
“It was a random find,” Shen Binnan said, and then she recounted how she had discovered it.
It turned out Shen Binnan had a keen interest in Coastal Park’s land.
She wanted to buy it, hence needed to know absolutely everything about it; therefore, she would visit the park whenever she could and stumbled upon that cave during one of her walks, eventually venturing inside.
After listening, Fang Yi was dumbfounded, firstly because he marveled at Shen Binnan’s courage, and secondly by the thought that this woman’s luck was insanely good!
“No matter how expensive this park is, we must acquire it!” Fang Yi declared.
“I agree,” Shen Binnan said.
“Damn, a gold mine, if we could mine this, we’d be filthy rich!” Fang Yi exclaid in awe.
However, Shen Binnan frowned suddenly, having thought of sothing, he said, “But this place is Xuan Cang.
If soone discovers a gold mine, they must report it to the officials.
Otherwise, if it’s found out, you could be sentenced.”
Fang Yi, who was initially excited, was imdiately doused with cold water.
He hung his head and after a long while, Fang Yi sighed, “Shen Binnan, would you die if you didn’t bring down?
I have a heart condition, you know.”
A gold mine, almost within reach, but then Shen Binnan threw out that comnt, and Fang Yi plumted from heaven to hell.
Shen Binnan gave a bitter smile and said, “What’s ant to be will be, and what’s not, let it go.”
Fang Yi said, “Don’t give that, I’m in a really bad mood right now.
Co here and give a kiss, it’ll ease the tension.”
Shen Binnan: “…Get lost!”
It was a road stretch in 1 B.C., and it had already grown dark.
The street lights on both sides of the road shone brightly.
Under the light of the street lamps, Fang Yi scratched his head, almost scratching his scalp off, gritting his teeth yet feeling helpless.
“I just can’t accept it, really can’t accept it…” Fang Yi said while scratching his head, “Damn, Xuan Cang just has too many rules, whether it’s antiques or any ore, once discovered it belongs to the state, and all they do is give so money as a reward.
It’s just too bullying.”
Shen Binnan said, “What else can you do?”
“I want to swallow this gold mine whole,” Fang Yi said straightforwardly, voicing his thoughts.
“Don’t be foolish, if the state finds out, no one can save you,” Shen Binnan cautioned.
At this point, Fang Yi winced in pain, baring his teeth.
Given Fang Yi’s shaless nature, anything he discovered he considered his, even if the land wasn’t his—he could just buy it.
But with the state in the way, it made things difficult for Fang Yi.
If it were the past, Fang Yi would never have thought so much.
He would simply have taken over the place and seized it by force.
But now, tis were different, Fang Yi couldn’t act recklessly, and Shen Binnan wouldn’t let him either.
Of course, he could just keep it a secret from Shen Binnan, right?
Suddenly, Fang Yi thought of a possibility.
Since Shen Binnan was unwilling to mine, why not do it himself?
He had the manpower and the capital… Xianghua City was a strong support for him, what couldn’t he do?
Besides, this place was by the sea, convenient for transportation.
If the land route wasn’t feasible, he could take the sea route.
He had to bite off a piece of this place!
Don’t say Fang Yi isn’t patriotic or anything.
Being patriotic doesn’t an you just hand over what you discover, at least secure so benefits, otherwise, what’s the point?
“What are you thinking about?” Suddenly, Shen Binnan stared at him, eyes sharp and sowhat scrutinizing.
“Thinking?
Not much,” Fang Yi shrugged, “You’re overthinking it.”
Shen Binnan slightly narrowed her beautiful eyes, warning, “You better not be planning anything here, because if you get caught, the state won’t let you off.”
Fang Yi responded with an ‘oh,’ but as to what he was actually planning, he naturally wouldn’t tell Shen Binnan.
When they got in the car, Shen Binnan suddenly asked, “Do you think… we should take over Coastal Park?”
“Take it!
Of course, we should take it!
This place has such good feng shui, to give it to Rong Shuo would be insane!” Fang Yi said spiritedly, “If you’re short on money, just tell , even if Rong Shuo is rich, I’ll outspend him!”
Shen Binnan looked skeptical, gazing at the spirited Fang Yi, puzzled.
Since he vehently denied having further illicit thoughts about the gold mine, why was he still so enthusiastic about this piece of land?
Could it really be because of its good feng shui?
Shen Binnan didn’t believe it, not one bit!
