The next morning, Zhou Peilan woke up to find no one else on the bed.
Zhou Peilan walked into the living room and noticed a cup of hot milk on the table, weighted down by a note beneath it. She picked it up and read it, then couldn’t help muttering to herself, "This jerk, just eats and runs without even saying goodbye."
As much as she said that, the corners of Zhou Peilan’s mouth curled up in a sweet smile, nowhere near the look of soone angered.
...
Fang Yi went straight to the abandoned park and into the Gold Mine where ng Wei and Lin Mu ca out to greet him. Fang Yi briefly inquired about the recent situation of the Gold Mine.
"Alliance Hierarch, the gold extraction has been very good these days. The vein won’t run dry anyti soon; I reckon at least a year or two of mining left," Lin Mu reported.
"Mhm, as long as it can keep going, that’s fine," Fang Yi said. "But also keep an eye on the outside, it’s best to proceed in secret. If any clues are discovered, tell imdiately."
"Yes!"
After leaving the Gold Mine, Fang Yi visited Qingtian Barbecue and made rounds at nearly every franchise, mainly inquiring about earnings, developnt, and the like before leaving.
Fang Yi estimated the ti; there were five days left until the end of the month, about ti to head to Tianjing.
As Fang Yi was on his way ho, he encountered two n in black at the entrance of the residential complex. When Fang Yi drove up to the entrance, the two n gestured to stop his car. Fang Yi’s expression gave nothing away as he opened the car door and stepped out.
"Are you Fang Yi?" One of the n in black looked down his nose at Fang Yi.
"Yes, I am," Fang Yi lit a cigarette.
The other man in black took out an invitation and said, "This is from our Young Master Four. He wants you to rember to attend his wedding on ti. He’ll be very disappointed if you don’t show up."
Fang Yi laughed. The attitude and style of these two n in black clearly indicated they were sent by Fang Tianqi to insult him, and he found it quite amusing that Fang Tianqi couldn’t wait any longer.
Fang Yi couldn’t be bothered to get angry with these two trivial figures. He took the invitation, put it in his pocket, and drove into the residential complex.
That afternoon, Fang Yi called up Rong Quan of Rong Group and Ying Zheng of Ying Group, taking them both on a flight toward Tianjing.
They were in first class, which was exceptionally quiet with excellent service. Ying Zheng and Rong Quan couldn’t take their eyes off the beautiful flight attendants. Fang Yi tapped the table to draw their gaze back to him.
The two looked at Fang Yi, and Ying Zheng chuckled, "Brother Fang, what’s the reason for bringing us to Tianjing this ti?"
Fang Yi smiled, "Tianjing has so many tempting scenes; I thought I’d take both of you for a whirl. How’s that? As a leader, I’m not bad to you guys, right?"
Ying Zheng curled his lip, obviously disbelieving, while Rong Quan looked on drooling.
Ying Zheng said, "Co on, Brother Fang, stop kidding with . Give it to us straight so I can have so peace of mind."
Fang Yi smiled and replied, "Actually, it’s not much. I just want to get a foothold in Tianjing, lay so roots there, and I need your help."
Rong Quan looked puzzled, "Boss, what do you an by that...?"
Fang Yi leaned back in his chair, his feet on the coffee table, and said lightly, "Alright, I’ll be clear. I want to expand my business to Tianjing."
Ying Zheng showed a look of surprise. Then he picked up his wine glass, drank a few sips, put the glass back on the coffee table, and then looked at Fang Yi earnestly, "Brother Fang, I have a few sincere words, do you want to hear them?"
"Of course," Fang Yi replied.
Ying Zheng pondered for a mont, organized his thoughts, and then said gravely, "Tianjing is a place teeming with dragons and tigers, full of influential and powerful figures from all corners of the earth. It’s also the place with the highest concentration of aristocratic families."
"If you want to extend your reach here, I don’t know exactly what extent you’ve prepared, whether it’s just to make money or if you have other purposes. If it’s only for making money, then developing here isn’t impossible. But if there’s another purpose and you want to delve deeper, the business won’t last long. In this land of hidden dragons and crouching tigers, what they hate most is those who stretch their hands out recklessly. I too had once tried to extend my reach into this prosperous city. Back then, full of ambition, I vowed to secure a place in Tianjing. However..."
At this point, Ying Zheng’s face revealed a bitter smile. In fact, at that ti, Ying Zheng was already quite successful and could be considered a wealthy man, but when he ca to Tianjing, he faced a great setback. The reason was none other than the ’Chamber of Comrce.’
"Chamber of Comrce?" Fang Yi raised an eyebrow upon hearing these two words and lit a cigarette.
Even though it was first-class in an airplane, smoking is possible if you have the money.
Ying Zheng also lit a cigarette for himself and nodded, "This so-called Chamber of Comrce is actually organized by those aristocratic families in Tianjing. Every wealthy businessman who arrives there has to pay a certain ’businessman fee,’ in simpler terms, a fee. Back then, I thought paying a little was okay, but these people are too greedy. Apart from paying a certain amount every month, they also take ten percent from the businessman’s earnings."
Fang Yi said, "This is outright extortion."
Ying Zheng said, "You’re right, these aristocratic families in Tianjing are openly robbing, holding a knife to your neck and telling you they’re stealing your money. But what can you do? They have power and influence locally. You can’t beat them."
Fang Yi asked, "So you went back to Moon City?"
Ying Zheng nodded.
Fang Yi pondered for a while, "But in Tianjing, I must get my business going, and moreover... within three days."
"Three days?!" Ying Zheng nearly jumped up in surprise.
"Yes, three days. I want to open up my shop in Tianjing," Fang Yi stated calmly.
"Qingtian Barbecue?"
"Exactly."
Ying Zheng’s mouth twitched violently for a mont before he managed to formulate his tone, saying, "Brother Fang Yi, aren’t you rushing things? Your business expansion into Tianjing, it couldn’t really be for so ulterior motive, could it?"
Fang Yi smiled and replied, "What if I told you, my trip to Tianjing this ti is to oppose the Fang Family, what would you think?"
Thud!
Ying Zheng, who had been sitting properly, shuddered at those words and slid off his chair to the floor.
"Sorry, that was unseemly... unseemly..." Ying Zheng said as he picked himself up. Once he was seated again, and as he looked at Fang Yi smiling, he was utterly astounded, as if he had seen a ghost.
