Now reading: Chapter 329: Floor 99 (5) from God-Tier Extraction Talent: Reincarnated in a Game-like World!, a Game novel by MidnightWolfe.

So far, whatever entity governed the tower had nerfed the enemies to a certain extent. A level 50 vampire was slightly weaker than a level 50 enemy outside the tower.

No one knew the reason for this, but they could only guess it was because the tower was gauging the limits of the climbers. They didn’t want a situation where everyone would be overwheld even before they got to floor 20.

However, this restriction had been completely removed on floor 99. The duke was as strong as a Hero Rank anywhere in the world.

...if anything, even stronger.

And this made both climbers and viewers outside wonder how powerful the final boss would be.

In another part of floor 99, there was the Olympus Guild.

Jack Arefield was currently fighting in close-quarter combat with the vampire duke.

The vice guild leader’s expression was extrely serious; the usually nonchalant and carefree energy was nowhere to be found.

FWOOOSH! FWOOOSH!

His spear and the Blood Duke’s spear clashed in their center, sending a powerful wave coursing through their veins.

Even though he was nicknad the strongest vice guild leader, before the superior strength of the vampire duke he was forced several steps back.

Yes, he was strong, but at the end of the day he was only Level 100, while the opponent was stronger than him by ten levels, which felt like an impossible gap for him.

"Human, don’t be pathetic... my weapon of choice is the sword. To think I’ll best you even using your favorite weapon." The vampire duke mocked.

Yes... in a bid to humiliate Jack, the vampire duke had created a blood spear. But the way he used the spear—it was like an extension of himself, as though he had wielded it his entire life.

In the Valerian Kingdom, there were two people known as the best spear users. The first was Ares Durham, the guild leader of Olympus, while the second was Jack himself.

"Looking at him, it’s almost as if I don’t deserve that title." Jack looked at the vampire duke with pure hate and dissatisfaction.

’He’s only below the guild leader himself.’

At that mont, Jack caught a golden blur rushing forward from the corner of his eyes.

Monts later, there was a loud clash.

The vampire duke was sent stumbling back two steps after sustaining a fatal kick to the lower abdon.

Aria withdrew her leg and went in again, radiant light spilling from her body. It was the sa light she had used to blind the duke and was able to land that attack.

"Tsk, I won’t allow you to do that a second ti." He sneered as he summoned blood walls to block the light generated by the countless runes adorning Aria’s body.

So far, she had been the most difficult one to deal with because of her strange power of blinding her opponents.

What the duke failed to realize was that the others wouldn’t stay still.

Imdiately, Jack pointed his spear, his eyes radiating with a golden light. A beam shot out.

FWOOOSH!

The beam smashed into the blood wall, forming a crack. Aria’s light spilled inside from that opening, causing the vampire to roar in pain.

"Jack, this is our chance!" Aria cried out, her voice slightly strained. Sweat glistened on her temples, and even her beautiful glowing skin was slightly pale.

"I don’t have mana! Kill him once and for all!"

SWOOOOSH!

Jack nodded, and in a trail of golden light, he vanished from his spot. Where he previously stood was faint scorched ground.

Of course, there were others, but their MP points were on the low side. Joining the fight now would only be a burden and hindrance for Jack and Aria, so they could only watch.

Jack reappeared behind the vampire duke and struck, his spear thrusting with everything he had—but the mont the blade touched flesh, Jack’s eyes widened.

He hadn’t gone for the heart.

"Tsk." The vampire duke grinned, fangs glinting. "You should have aid for my heart, human."

Before Jack could recover, the duke twisted, his hand plunging backward like a crimson blur. A blade of blood erupted from his palm.

SHRRK!

Jack barely raised his arm in ti. The blood blade stabbed into his shoulder instead of his chest.

"Ggh—!" Jack grunted as the force sent him flying back, his boots carving trenches in the floor.

He landed on one knee, blood dripping down his arm.

’That was too close...!’ Jack thought, clenching his teeth.

The duke straightened his posture, amused. "Blocking with your shoulder... you really are desperate."

But Jack didn’t retreat. He stood again, even though his arm trembled faintly.

In the real world, on the TV screen, the cara zood in on Doodle Brambleton, who was practically vibrating in his seat.

"Holy hell, DID YOU SEE THAT!?" Doodle shouted, slamming both hands on the desk. "JACK AREFIELD JUST TOOK A HERO-RANK BLOW STRAIGHT TO THE SHOULDER! Martial Palace and Broken Dawn aren’t faring too well either!"

The comnt feed on the side exploded:

[NewbieSlayer]: BRO THAT WAS A HERO RANK STRIKE WHAT IS JACK MADE OF??

[VampireLover77]: Omg the duke is too strong we’re cooked. Olympus is DONE.

[GigaBrainX]: The devs made Olympus very powerful, plus it’s a full NPC guild. I’m sure they’ll survive this.

When he saw the last comnt, Doodle couldn’t help but frown, seeing that many still weren’t understanding the weight and difficulty of the current floor.

"No, no, no—listen everyone!" he explained. "You don’t understand how INSANE this is. Floor 99 is not adjusting enemy strength anymore! That duke is a full-fledged Hero Rank! There’s no dampening, no restrictions, NOTHING."

His co-host leaned forward, expression tense.

"And the worst part is... Hero Rank monsters inside the Tower are usually even stronger than real ones," he said.

Doodle nodded so fast his headset nearly fell off.

"YES—EXACTLY. The Tower is basically saying: ’Congrats on getting this far, now die!’"

When their viewers heard this, the fans of Broken Dawn and Sir Broken collectively shivered.

If even Olympus was being wiped out here, then what about Broken Dawn...
