God-Tier Extraction Talent: Reincarnated in a Game-like World! Chapter 371: The Attack: IceQueen?[4]
After the incident with the supply truck that was heading to the northern camp, the eastern camp had grown restless. The first thought that ca to their minds was that the truck had been hijacked en route.
It was not hard to co to that conclusion, considering that the wilderness was a lawless region.
In order to investigate the situation, they had sent out Dante and Geoffrey to contact Kairos’ base and then look into the matter.
They had dispatched one of their top individuals from the camp, treating the situation as extrely important.
But never in their wildest dreams did they expect a Hero Rank not to report back. In an attempt to contact Dante and Geoffrey, they had sent out Garrett, accompanied by two of their finest assassins.
The result was the sa.
Garrett took even longer to report back to the camp, which was the reason this eting had been called in the first place.
"Maybe they encountered a powerful enemy and lost their lives," said a young man in his late twenties.
He was wearing a blood red suit with a white tie beneath it. He was neither handso nor ugly. His average looking face was accentuated by multiple earrings, giving him a rather fierce appearance.
This man was Dominic, the strongest person in the entire eastern camp and the second in command, just below Lord Henry, the first person who had spoken earlier.
Dominic had once been a refugee who clawed his way from the bottom to the top until he earned a seat in this very room. No one knew where he had co from at first.
There were no records.
No known faction.
Not even a proper awakening report.
He had simply appeared one day at the eastern camp’s outer periter, half dead and drenched in blood that was not entirely his own. Dragged behind him was the corpse of a mutated beast far beyond what a lone refugee should have been capable of killing.
That single act earned him dical treatnt instead of a bullet.
Back then, the eastern camp was still young. Resources were scarce, power was unstable, and everything was in the process of being built.
Dominic understood that faster than anyone else. He knew that if he wanted to beco a major player, he had to prove himself.
He volunteered for the most dangerous missions. Scout operations. Monster purges. Supply retrieval runs that everyone else avoided. Every ti, he returned injured but alive. And every ti, the people sent with him returned intact, unlike other teams that ventured into the wilderness.
Henry had challenged him once.
That duel lasted less than ten seconds.
After that day, Dominic did not officially take command. He did not need to. The leadership council remained in place, but everyone in the room knew the truth.
Decisions passed not only through Henry but through Dominic as well, whether spoken aloud or not. Even Hero Ranks deferred to him unconsciously.
Because of this, hidden tension had grown between the two sides, and both had secretly attempted to eliminate the other.
The only reason Dominic had not succeeded was because Henry had the backing of his brother, who solely controlled the northern camp, as well as the majority of those currently present.
They were all handpicked by Henry or had once been saved by him, so their loyalty remained with him.
Henry laughed at Dominic’s words.
"Hahaha. Dante is the second strongest person in the camp. Do you really think so group of bandit wannabes could kill him?"
Dante’s expression remained neutral, clearly unaffected by the provocation. He cleared his throat and asked calmly, "Then, as you said, what do you think the problem is?"
Henry stroked his chin. It was a question he could not answer himself. He had initially laughed to dismiss Dominic, but the cunning man had thrown the question right back at him.
"Defeating Dante alone would already be difficult, but what about Garrett and the two elite assassins?" asked a beauty with delicate Asian features.
Her na was Lin Xueyi, the youngest of the Lin sisters.
Seated beside her was her elder sister, Lin Xuei. She possessed similar features but carried a far colder temperant. Where the younger radiated calm beauty, the elder exuded chilling coldness.
"Exactly," the elder sister added quietly. "Dante falling alone is unlikely. But Garrett and two elite assassins disappearing as well?"
Garrett was not a Hero Rank, but he was far from weak. More importantly, the two assassins that accompanied him were specialists trained specifically for ambush and retreat. Their entire purpose was survival after execution. For all three to vanish without sending even a single ssage back ant only one thing.
"And let us not forget Kairos," Dominic suddenly smirked. "Normally, he would have reported back by now. My guess is that sothing happened to him first. Then, when Dante went to investigate, he fell as well. Garrett and the two elite assassins t the sa fate."
It was a wild claim.
A part of Henry refused to believe it, but considering the timing of everything, it was becoming too precise to be a coincidence.
Henry’s smile slowly faded. His fingers stopped tapping against the armrest as his brows knitted together. He leaned back slightly and exhaled through his nose.
"Tch," he clicked his tongue. "So you are saying this was not a coincidence."
"I think Brother Dominic is right," the youngest Lin sister nodded in agreent.
Crack. Crack.
Cracks spread across the glass cup in Henry’s grasp.
"But how could that be possible?" he said slowly. "The last ti I checked, there should not be any faction in the wilderness capable of rivaling us."
"Well," Dominic smirked, licking his red lips, "maybe there is one now."
A heavy tension settled over the eting room.
In his mind, the enemy was no ordinary existence. To openly provoke the eastern camp despite knowing its strength ant one of two things. Either they were foolish, or they possessed nerves of steel.
Dominic believed it was the latter.
They were dealing with soone who did not fear the eastern camp, and that realization only made him more curious.
Although Dante was not exceptional by my standards, he was still strong compared to the norm here. If they dealt with him as well, then they must be quite formidable.
At that mont, a guard hurried into the eting room.
Because of his low rank, the atmosphere shifted instantly upon his arrival. So of the higher ups had already begun considering punishnt.
Henry raised his head, glaring at the guard with an annoyed expression.
The guard quickly bowed and reported, "My lord, we have a guest. She claims to know what happened to Dante and the others."
The eyes of everyone in the eting room widened.
"What is her na, and where did she co from?" Henry asked.
"She is an otherworlder," the guard replied. "She claims her na is IceQueen, the leader of the ChaosKnight Guild."
