God-Tier Extraction Talent: Reincarnated in a Game-like World! Chapter 465 465: The Missing Body
"Are you expecting anyone?" asked Seraphina, her gaze alternating between the door and Gabriel.
"No… it could be Sophie or Anna," Gabriel replied as he picked up his glass out of habit he had gained in the last few days. He walked to the door and opened it.
Upon opening it, he found Anna, his maid, standing outside.
Anna, who had not seen Gabriel for a few days, was slightly taken aback by his new look. She stood there staring at him with a dazed expression.
He looked tired, but that only added to his undeniable attractiveness. With his scattered appearance, he looked like a weapon fashioned against all won.
"Anna."
Gabriel's voice snapped the huntress out of her trance like state.
"Are you okay? I have been calling you for the past couple of seconds," he said with a frown of concern, seemingly oblivious that with his class advancent his natural charm had beco even stronger.
Seraphina, standing beside him, resisted the urge to roll her eyes at his cluelessness.
"Umm… I am fine," Anna muttered incomprehensibly, shifting her gaze to the ground to hide the redness on her face.
Finally she raised her head and spoke.
"It is just that master looks different, so I was taken aback."
"Oh that."
Gabriel had not taken a proper look at his face yet, so he did not know. But since Seraphina had said sothing similar earlier, then it truly ant that he looked different.
Now he was curious to go check his appearance in the mirror.
"What brings you here?" he asked.
"The bodies master told to gather… I thought I should remind you in case master had forgotten about them."
"Right…"
Gabriel face pald. Because of the series of tasks he had been occupied with, he had completely forgotten sothing as important and delicate as corpses.
Unfortunately, for extraction to work the corpse did not necessarily have to be fresh. Even the bones of a thousand year old warrior could be extracted.
The only downside was the terrible stench that would be surrounding the corpses by now.
Still, Gabriel asked Anna to take him there.
Before he beca occupied once again, he wanted to settle the matter with the corpses.
rely keeping those bodies inside his basent here in the wilderness was very creepy. Although the place was out of reach of most people, if one of the maids were to stumble upon it, it would definitely spread rumors throughout the mansion and even the camp.
Worst of all…
"They could tag a cannibal," he muttered.
"A cannibal?" Seraphina asked.
Gabriel shrugged lightly as they walked down the quiet corridor.
"People like to create stories," he replied. "A young lord appears out of nowhere. Stronger than everyone else. If they cannot understand it, they will invent explanations."
Seraphina crossed her arms.
"So they will say you eat people to gain power."
Gabriel nodded.
"Sothing like that."
Anna walked a few steps ahead of them, leading the way toward the lower levels of the mansion. She kept her head slightly lowered so she did not hear their conversation.
Seraphina glanced at Gabriel again.
"You should be careful then. If rumors spread that you eat people, the camp may beco uncomfortable around you."
Gabriel let out a small breath that sounded almost like a quiet laugh.
"That might actually make paperwork easier," he said. "People will stop bothering ."
Soon they reached the stairwell that led down toward the basent. The air beca colder as they descended the stone steps. The light grew dimr and the sound of the camp outside slowly faded away.
Anna pushed open the heavy tal door at the bottom.
The basent was dark as usual. Gabriel frowned slightly as he stepped inside. He had expected sothing different.
"There is no sll," he said quietly in a tone that could only be heard by Seraphina.
The vampire queen, whose senses were much sharper, nodded as well.
"I cannot sense anything either."
Anna turned around and spoke calmly.
"Follow ."
She moved further inside and turned on a switch on the wall. A faint light spread across the room and revealed several large shapes resting along the stone floor.
All the bodies had been covered in thick layers of ice.
The frost wrapped around them completely, sealing the corpses inside transparent blocks. Even the armor so of them wore had been frozen in place.
Both Gabriel and Seraphina raised their brows, not expecting this.
Anna stepped closer to one of them and pointed.
"I froze them to preserve their condition," she explained. "That way the bodies will not rot and the sll will not spread through the mansion."
Gabriel looked at the frozen figures carefully. Among them lay Henry, still wearing his golden armor, his expression still twisted in anger and regret. Frost crawled across the tal plates, making the armor dull and pale under the lantern light.
Gabriel glanced between the bodies and Anna.
"You thought ahead."
Anna nodded slightly, a little nervous under his attention.
"I did not want the servants to discover them by accident," she said. "If they slled sothing strange it would create unnecessary panic."
Gabriel looked at her for a mont. Then he reached out and placed a hand on her head.
"Good work."
He gently patted her head once.
Anna froze for a mont, completely caught off guard. Her face quickly turned red and she lowered her head again, trying to hide it.
"I only did what I should, master," she said quietly.
Seraphina watched the scene with a faint amused look but said nothing.
Gabriel stepped forward and began checking the frozen corpses one by one. His eyes moved across the shapes, confirming the identities of the fallen hero ranked enemies.
After a mont his brow narrowed slightly.
"One is missing."
