Now reading: Chapter 546: VV: Without an Armour? from God-Tier Extraction Talent: Reincarnated in a Game-like World!, a Game novel by MidnightWolfe.

The residence grew quiet after the dinner ended, with most groups already returning to their assigned wings as the earlier noise from the hall faded into distant footsteps, closing doors, and low voices behind walls. So rested after the challenge, while others were clearly planning their next move before the mission began.

Moving through the building with his aura concealed, Gabriel kept his steps light against the polished floor as the hallway lamps cast a soft yellow glow. His pace remained steady as he passed servants, guards, and a few players still wandering about, though none paid him much attention.

The residence itself was large enough for each invited force to occupy its own section, and as he moved deeper inside, he eventually passed near the Broken Dawn wing without stopping. One of the larger rooms had its door slightly open, allowing Sophie’s calm voice to carry into the corridor as she gave instructions to her core mbers.

"Ragnarok99, rest your ribs tonight. Do not act like the injury is nothing," she said, her tone reserved but firm. "Cassie, confirm the supplies again. Bunny, check the token and keep it with you only if I am not present."

After a short pause, Cassie replied, "You think sothing will happen before we reach the tomb?"

"It already has," Sophie answered. "The challenge tonight was not just pride. Tianlan’s groups are testing how much they can push before the mission starts."

Hearing that, Gabriel slowed slightly, his attention caught by their discussion. Even if he was not part of them, their situation still concerned him.

Inside, the atmosphere sounded serious as chairs shifted softly and soone let out a tired breath. Ragnarok99 muttered sothing under his breath, but Sophie cut him off before it could turn into a complaint.

"You won, but barely. That is not an insult. It is a warning," she said. "If the tomb is worse than tonight, everyone here must act with more care."

For a mont, Gabriel’s gaze lingered on the partially closed door.

Sophie was handling things well. She was not trying to copy him or force herself into a harsher role than necessary, instead leading in her own way—calm, firm, and clear—while making sure the others understood the danger without creating panic.

For a brief second, he considered stepping inside.

The thought disappeared almost imdiately.

Right now, he was White Phantom, and Broken Dawn was not ant to know that yet. Walking in would ruin too much, especially after putting effort into keeping his identities separate. Even if he trusted them, there was no reason to reveal everything before the Buried God’s Tomb mission.

Besides, he would not be there forever. As Broken Dawn grew stronger and more independent, his role in their developnt would naturally lessen.

With that in mind, he chose not to enter and continued walking.

His path took him past their wing and deeper into the residence, where the hallways grew quieter and the air noticeably cooler. The walls beca simpler, decorated less, with plain wooden doors lining the corridor in place of the more elaborate sections above.

He had not been looking for anything in particular.

At this point, he only wanted to move, think, and clear his head after everything that had happened during dinner, especially after noticing Liang’s brief gaze earlier. The man had not said much, but the way he observed Gabriel left a lingering sense that sothing had been seen through, raising the question of whether his disguise had flaws.

Turning into one of the lower corridors, Gabriel noticed the lamps were spaced farther apart, casting longer shadows as the silence deepened. Sowhere nearby, water dripped steadily into a basin, and while a few rooms seed empty, others showed faint signs of life behind closed doors.

That was when he noticed soone familiar.

An armored figure sat on the floor outside one of the rooms, leaning against the wall with legs slightly drawn in. Parts of the heavy armor had been removed and placed carefully nearby, while the helt rested on the floor beside them.

It was Vv.

Gabriel stopped.

This was the first ti he had seen Vv without the full armor.

The lighting was dim, and the angle was not perfect, but the difference was still clear. Without the helt, Vv looked less like an unmoving wall of tal and more like soone trying to breathe after holding a role for too long. So hair was visible, though not enough to make out clear details, and while the posture remained guarded, it was not as rigid as before. One hand rested near the helt, fingers lightly touching its edge, ready to put it back on at any mont.

His curiosity sharpened.

Ever since their first eting, Vv had stood out—the silence, the armor, the strange pull, and the way they fought all left questions unanswered. Now, even this small glimpse of the person beneath the armor made it harder to ignore.

Before he could speak, Vv noticed him.

The reaction was imdiate.

Their hand moved quickly, grabbing the helt and putting it on in one smooth motion.

Gabriel raised one hand slightly. "Relax. I am not here to pry."

The corridor remained quiet for a few seconds, the lamp above flickering softly while faint sounds from distant rooms echoed through the space.

"You train alone. You sit alone. You barely speak," Gabriel said calmly as he stepped forward. "That is not normal, even for quiet people."

Vv did not answer.

Their gaze narrowed slightly behind the mask, but Gabriel’s tone did not change.

"I am curious what you look like without it."
