The vehicle drove out of Stellar City and into the wilderness.

As soon as it did, the trio present beca alert, subconsciously staring through the windows, expecting an attack at any mont.

"You lot should calm down," Victor chuckled. "We’re still in the safe zone. We should only expect any form of attack at least an hour from now."

"How long till we reach Halden Settlent?" Sophie asked.

"A couple of hours from now, if we don’t take a break," he replied, humming a soft tune.

Just then, Gabriel’s voice echoed. "For soone whose life is in danger, you seem too calm."

"Well, you could say I’ve done this a couple of tis... doing a routine task can be numbing. That’s just how it is with experience—the fear just fades," Victor replied.

Gabriel nodded. "I see."

The group continued in silence, and after several monts, everyone beca alert as they sensed a few presences surrounding them.

Gabriel, who had been slowly dozing off, opened his eyes.

’It’s just as Victor predicted,’ he thought, slowly getting to his feet.

"You girls stay back. I’ll handle them," he said.

"Wait!" Sophie called out. "This is ant to be a team mission. You can’t just do things your way!"

"If we all co out to fight these pests, not only will it give them validation, but also waste our ti," he stated. "So just sit back and let handle it."

Sophie pursed her lips together. ’Why did those words sound so soothing to hear?’

She wasn’t the only one. Even Cassie had a complicated look across her face.

Sophie turned to her. "We’ll keep an eye on him. As soon as we see he’s in danger, we’re heading out. Understood?"

"Understood," Cassie nodded.

anwhile, Gabriel stepped out of the vehicle onto the night air.

He looked ahead, finding about six individuals in crude, broken armor blocking their path.

They were riding on special motorbikes and had tattoos covering most parts of their bodies.

What was more—they reeked of alcohol.

’Bandits,’ he quickly deduced just from their looks alone.

They were pretty common out here in the wilderness.

’This ans these guys aren’t after the crate.’

Right at that mont, the leader—who had a large tattoo covering the left side of his face and carried a massive shield—stepped forward, pointing a hand at Gabriel.

"Hey you there, let’s not make this hard for the two of us. Hand over every treasure in there, and we’ll consider sparing your life."

"Dark Fla Orb!" Instead of replying, Gabriel activated his skill. From his fingertip, a sphere of fla exploded outward within seconds.

The leader escaped the orb’s trajectory, but so of his n weren’t so lucky and suffered damage.

"Bastard! If you want to do this the hard way, fine then!" he spat, his face filled with irritation as he dashed forward.

Arriving in front of Gabriel, he proceeded to bash him with the shield.

’Iron Body!’ Gabriel activated his newly acquired skill at once.

CLANG!

A sound similar to two tals colliding echoed. The bandit leader’s eyes flickered with confusion as he slowly looked up.

’Not even a scratch!!’ His eyes widened in disbelief. He had poured his entire strength into that attack!

"Now it’s my turn!" Gabriel smirked as his fist blurred forward, making the very air ripple.

The bandit hurriedly brought up his shield to parry the attack.

FWOOOSH! BANG!

The mont the hit connected, he felt his left arm go numb. He staggered backward.

"The shield!" one of his n shouted.

And when he looked at it, his heartbeat accelerated.

The shield was now bent—with a deep fist imprint in the middle.

’Wrong! This is a mistake!’ The bandit’s blood ran cold. A single punch! That was all it took for this person to destroy his prized shield.

"Retreat! This was a mistake!" the leader shouted, trying to get away from Gabriel as fast as he could, as if the latter was a monster.

The remaining five n didn’t hesitate. They jumped on their bikes and vanished into the dead of night.

Gabriel watched them, not even bothering to give chase. He returned to the vehicle and got in.

"Hahahaha! I didn’t know you could be this intimidating! That bandit looked like he wanted to shit himself there for a mont," Victor laughed as he started the car.

"It’s nothing. I’m sure the ssage will reach their friends as well," Gabriel calmly said.

Cassie frowned. "Was that why you left them alive?"

"Yes." Gabriel nodded. "I want to narrow our enemies down."

"That’s actually a clever move," Sophie praised softly.

If it had been left to her and Cassie, their goal would have been to kill off the bandits and continue uninterrupted.

"Hahahaha! With that, I’m sure no one would be dumb enough to co after us," Victor laughed.

Just as he had said, no bandit ca after them again. The group remained on alert, expecting an attack.

But so far, they hadn’t encountered anyone else, which made them worried.

Even Victor was silent, a look of confusion shining in his eyes.

"Tsk. I can’t believe a day would co when I’d be worried about enemies not attacking," he mumbled with a frown.

BANG!

The sudden gunfire shattered the calm like a thunderclap.

"Down!" Gabriel barked.

Victor instinctively slamd the brakes, swerving the vehicle into a narrow ditch beside the road for partial cover.

Sophie and Cassie ducked low, already activating their skills.

"I hate guns. Fucking annoying!" Cassie cursed with intense irritation.

Gabriel peered through the side panel, narrowing his eyes. In the distance, flashes of light flickered between the trees.

’Gunslingers... and well-coordinated. This isn’t random. They were waiting,’ his eyes glead dangerously.

There was only one of the five major guilds that had the most gunslingers...

"Tsk. I should’ve known," Victor cursed under his breath. "No bandit carries rifles that clean—this has Crimson Star written all over it."

Both Cassie and Sophie’s expressions paled when they realized it.

Of all the people in the world, it was Crimson Star, known for its powerful gunslingers, that had decided to co for them.
