At 6:30 PM, the house was brightly lit, with warm yellow lights reflecting the coziness of ho.

In the kitchen, Liu Jinyan was busy preparing dinner, the spatula flipping gracefully in her hand, as dish after dish was cooked to perfection, releasing an enticing aroma.

Seeing that the al was almost ready, yet her husband Wan Zhenhong was nowhere to be seen.

She couldn’t help but glance at the clock on the wall and realized it was nearly 7 o’clock.

At this point,

The anticipation she initially felt gradually turned into anxiety.

"Why is he so late today? Normally, he’s ho by 6:30. Could it be that he’s working overti again tonight? Or is he stuck in traffic?"

Her thoughts wandered amid speculation, and her movents unconsciously slowed down.

She walked to the kitchen door, her gaze unconsciously drifting towards her daughter Niuniu, who was playing in the living room, and then she looked towards the door, hoping for Wan Zhenhong’s silhouette to suddenly appear.

Niuniu seed to sense the change in her mother’s mood and paused in her actions. With her innocent voice, she curiously asked, "Mama, why isn’t Papa back yet? My little tummy is hungry!"

Liu Jinyan turned her head and gave Niuniu a loving smile, speaking softly, "Niuniu, Daddy might still be busy with work. Let’s wait a little longer, and when Daddy cos back, we’ll start dinner."

"Oh~"

Niuniu pouted her little lips with so displeasure, while internally she lightly complained about Daddy making her hungry too.

Seeing this, Liu Jinyan suggested with a smile, "Niuniu, why don’t we call him and ask when he’ll be back?"

"Mm-hmm~ Okay~"

Niuniu agreed obediently and considerately picked up the phone Liu Jinyan had placed on the coffee table, carefully handing it to her mother: "Mama, here’s the phone, call him!"

"How sweet!"

Liu Jinyan patted her little head and proceeded to dial Wan Zhenhong’s number.

No sooner had the call connected when Niuniu excitedly ca closer, and before Liu Jinyan could speak, she mischievously imitated her mother’s tone, saying into the phone, "Hello, Zhenhong, are you coming ho for dinner tonight?"

The way she spoke and her tone were indeed quite like Liu Jinyan’s, vividly lively.

What a pity...

Her voice was still her sweet little child voice, and Wan Zhenhong imdiately recognized it, laughing as he exposed her, "Niuniu, you little rascal, trying to trick again?"

Niuniu, hearing that she was caught, wasn’t shy. Instead, she giggled and blinked slyly, "No, no, I’m Mama!"

"Haha, Niuniu, Daddy recognizes your voice!" Wan Zhenhong laughed helplessly yet affectionately.

Niuniu amused herself with her little trick and giggled, puzzlingly asking, "Hey? Papa, how did you recognize ?"

Before Wan Zhenhong could answer, she continued chirping away, "Papa, Mama finished cooking, just waiting for you to co back. Hurry ho; Niuniu misses you, and my tummy is hungry too! Yours must be hungry too, so co ho for dinner quickly!"

On the other end, warmth filled Wan Zhenhong’s heart.

He never expected his little mischievous one to be so considerate.

He smiled as he replied, "Of course, Niuniu. Daddy will be ho soon, and I’ve brought sothing tasty for you!"

"You brought sothing tasty? Really? Papa, are you joking?" Hearing there was food, the little one perked up, her big eyes sparkling with anticipation, asking non-stop.

"Of course it’s true, more real than gold!" Wan Zhenhong laughed pamperingly, then instructed, "Niuniu, tell Mama that Daddy will be ho soon."

"Okay, see you soon, bye-bye, Papa!" Niuniu joyfully hung up the phone, turned excitedly towards Liu Jinyan, "Mama, did you hear? Papa said he’s bringing yummy food!"

Liu Jinyan looked at Niuniu’s expectant little face and couldn’t help but laugh, "I heard, I heard, you little foodie!"

She gently pinched Niuniu’s tiny nose and then tenderly reminded her, "Go wash your hands, we’ll start dinner soon."

Niuniu nodded obediently and hopped away to wash her hands.

Liu Jinyan then hustled to bring the last dish to the table in preparation for Wan Zhenhong’s return.

Soon, the sound of keys turning ca from outside, and Wan Zhenhong opened the door and entered.

As soon as Niuniu saw Daddy return, she imdiately ran over happily, throwing herself into his arms: "Papa, you finally ca back!"

Wan Zhenhong laughed as he picked up Niuniu, kissing her little cheek, "Yes, Daddy’s ho. Look what I brought for you to eat."

Speaking, he first pulled a small plastic bag out of his briefcase.

Niuniu watched expectantly, hoping to see her favorite snacks.

But as soon as she saw the contents of the bag, her eyes suddenly dimd.

"What? Green bean cakes?"

She thought there might be chocolate, chips, or other delicious snacks, but it turned out to be green bean cakes.

To her surprise, there were only two green bean cakes in the bag.

This didn’t et her expectations at all...

"Hmph~ Papa, stingy!"

Niuniu pouted her little face, showing a "baby is not happy" expression.

Oh!

Complaining already?

Dear daughter!

Do you know, Daddy nearly got into a fight with Uncle Jiao for these two green bean cakes?

And you’re unhappy instead of grateful!

Oh!

How does this little jacket sotis keep warm, sotis let wind through, sotis pierce the heart?

But seeing Niuniu’s aggrieved look, Wan Zhenhong didn’t say much, only gently poked her nose and smiled: "Little foodie, just knew you wanted snacks. But these green bean cakes Daddy brought are specially from Dorami Kindergarten, and they taste great. Weren’t you saying last ti you wanted to try their sweet potato egg rolls? The green bean cake is equally delicious."

Upon hearing this, Niuniu’s little head recalled the tempting image of the sweet potato egg rolls from a news segnt she watched, which made her mouth water.

Her little eyes instantly lit up, becoming interested in the green bean cakes.

With an expression of "I’ll humor you," she said: "Okay, then Niuniu will try it!"

"Good, I promise you’ll like it. Papa’s bag also has so sweet and sour ribs."

Wan Zhenhong smiled as he handed a piece of green bean cake to Niuniu, and gave the remaining one to Liu Jinyan.

Seeing this, Liu Jinyan shook her head a bit speechlessly, saying, "Why did you bring Dorami Kindergarten’s snacks back? It doesn’t look good..."

She looked at Wan Zhenhong, a hint of reproach on her face, and continued, "A deputy director of the Education Bureau going to a kindergarten, not only eating there but taking food back, isn’t that making the kindergarten’s principal and teachers, along with your colleagues, laugh at you? As a public servant, you should pay attention to your conduct at all tis!"

Wan Zhenhong put on a "as long as I’m not embarrassed, it’s others who are" expression, defending himself, "My colleagues won’t laugh. Old Xin also took so snacks, and Old Jiao almost fought with over these green bean cakes!"

Liu Jinyan paused.

Oh my goodness!

An expert reviewer, a bureau director, fighting over a few green bean cakes?

Just imagining the scene made it feel sowhat funny and unbelievable.
