From MC’s Perspective:
Inside the Gregor Mansion, I stand in front of the control mirror. Once the dust settled, I saw a massive tree root lying on the ground.
It hadn’t moved at all. If I go outside, I’ll appear in the sa spot, and the tree root might attack again. I sighed inwardly.
I finally realized it’s not easy to reach my destination. Danger lurks at every step. Now, the 10th-Order Tree Monster has spotted .
This ans it lives in the surrounding area. But I can’t change my direction or route because this is the shortest path to the next habitable area.
I ca to the understanding that I must either fight the monster or wait for it to retract its root.
Ti passed.
Noon arrived, yet the tree root still hadn’t moved. I decided to take the risk.
Otherwise, I’d be wasting more ti.
Swoosh!
I appeared outside. The next second, the tree root moved.
Boom!
I imdiately decided to flee, but sothing struck my back. Like a projectile, I hurtled forward with a booming sound.
My body crashed into tree branches before hitting the ground. I quickly used the Gregor Mansion to reappear inside.
Boom!
The next second, another tree root struck the spot out of nowhere, causing a deafening noise.
Dust and debris rose from the ground. The shockwave swept away the surroundings.
The vegetation was cleared in the blink of an eye.
Inside the Gregor Mansion, I went to the control room and looked at the control mirror.
When the aftermath settled, I saw another massive root lying on the ground. I didn’t know what to say.
The system can block prying eyes, but how did the tree monster find ? The pain in my back was real and throbbing. I took a healing potion and consud it.
Then I lay down on the floor. I’d look into it after feeling better.
anwhile, the tree root remained outside. Suddenly, multiple eyes appeared on its surface, then vanished just as quickly.
The 10th-Order Tree Monster possesses special magical abilities. With its many eyes, it can detect anything in the forest.
That’s how it saw sothing moving earlier. Now, it had disappeared into thin air, leaving the monster stunned.
It decided to wait and observe.
Ti passed.
Evening arrived, but the place was already dark. The thick forest canopy made it even darker now.
For wizards, this isn’t a problem, but in this dangerous place, a single mistake could cost everything.
I slowly opened my eyes. The pain in my back was almost gone. I tried to stand up, but the pain flared up again.
Gritting my teeth, I stood and walked to the mirror. I saw another root lying flat on the ground, motionless.
I had thought I could outrun the tree root’s speed, but its attack was swift and powerful. Now, I had no choice. I could only wait for the tree roots to retreat into the woods on their own.
Ti passed, and nightti arrived. I sat in front of the control mirror. In the darkness, nothing was visible, but I could tell the tree root was still lying on the ground.
As I continued to stare into the control mirror, sothing suddenly happened. Hundreds of red eyes appeared on the tree roots, then vanished in a flash. The sight sent a cold shiver down my spine.
"What the hell?" I muttered in disbelief.
I was certain I had seen countless eyes staring back at . Before I could process it further, the tree roots suddenly retreated into the woods. It all happened within seconds.
I stood up from the floor, still gazing at the mirror. For a mont, I was unsure of what I had seen. Then I collected my thoughts, and my heart began to calm.
I asked the system about what I had witnessed.
[Ding! It’s the eyes of the monster.]
A chanical voice echoed in my mind. My eyes flickered with understanding.
No wonder the monster had found , it had eyes on its roots, countless eyes. I realized it had spotted because of them.
But if the roots alone had hundreds of eyes, what about the main body? I started to think this was no ordinary tree monster.
It was a 10th Order Monster, likely possessing intelligence and magical abilities. I felt relieved that I hadn’t been reckless enough to confront it.
It was ti for the next question: Should I go outside right now? The tree monster had found during the dayti, so it would likely find at night as well. I could attempt it, but there was a risk.
I knew the dense forest was filled with poisonous plants and insects. If I were bitten by sothing unintentionally, it could lead to unavoidable consequences.
I might be forced to return to Willow Peak City. And who knows? If a cure wasn’t available there, I might have to seek out healing wizards.
I didn’t want that to happen. I had already suffered from corrupted mana in the previous forbidden area. After so thought, I decided to spend the night inside the mansion.
The following day, when the first daylight touched the ground, I stepped outside and looked around.
The sky was clear. In the daylight, the surroundings were more visible. Seeing this, I decided to travel.
Instead of moving quickly, I proceeded slowly, trying not to make any noise while aiming to reach my destination as soon as possible.
Ti passed. A few hours later, I had crossed half the distance. If I had wanted, I could have moved faster, but the fear of the mysterious multi-eyed tree monster was real.
From here, the distance to the habitable area was short. I wanted to reach it before evening.
At the sa ti, I remained cautious of the multi-eyed tree monster. The 10th Order Tree Monster seems to be more powerful.
Before finding the wanted criminal, I don’t want to engage in a life and death duel against the monsters or wizards.
