The House
I was in my room, browsing the online news on my device.
[Ding! Warning!]
[Hostile Magic Lord detected in the backyard.]
The system gave a warning all of a sudden. My expression turned grave. I got out of bed the next second.
"A Magic Lord," I uttered.
"Who could it be?" I thought. It felt unbelievable. Not even three days had passed, and I already had a hostile actor in my backyard.
A hint of uneasiness flashed in my eyes. I recalled the warning from Jonah earlier. It could be soone from the Magic Tower or the Wizard Association.
Then I thought of old man Rock. He might have sensed the danger already. I pulled out my face mask and put it on.
I imdiately went downstairs to check on the others. No one was in the living room. I took my device and phoned Magic Lord Rock.
Old man Rock answered the call. I told him to co to the living room. Rock was surprised; he didn’t know why Master Vincent was calling him so urgently. He ended the call before leaving his room.
anwhile, I sat on the sofa, using the system to scan the surroundings. The system results ca back positive.
[Ding! Unknown Magic Lord detected.]
[Ding! Target is still staying in the sa place.]
The system’s voice echoed in my mind. My eyebrows furrowed. The unknown Magic Lord was still lingering. Fortunately, I had recruited old man Rock. He could deter the intruder.
Shortly afterward, old man Rock entered the living room. Upon seeing , he offered a greeting.
He then asked, "Master, what happened?"
"Old man Rock, didn’t you feel the presence of the Magic Lord?" I asked.
Hearing that, the expression on old man Rock’s face changed drastically. He quickly collected his thoughts and spread his ntal power.
His ntal power covered the house in the blink of an eye before spreading outward. He quickly located the cloaked figure hiding near a tree. The strength of the figure was indeed at the level of a Magic Lord.
Rock’s weathered face twisted in shock. He didn’t understand how Master Vincent had been able to find the intruder first. He failed to identify the person, however.
He took a breath before saying, "Master, you are right. There is an unknown Magic Lord spying from outside the house. What should we do now?"
Hearing that, my face turned solemn. I could not fight against a Magic Lord right now; it would expose my identity.
I looked toward old man Rock and said, "Let’s wait and watch. I guess he won’t dare to get any closer to the house."
Old man Rock nodded. He knew that his own power was known to others, yet an unknown Magic Lord had still co to probe them.
Outside
The cloaked figure felt the sudden probe from earlier. He realized he had been exposed, but he couldn’t afford to go back without so intel.
He decided to test their limits at the very least, so he moved closer toward the house. Suddenly, he felt a strong gaze from the Magic Lord inside.
The cloaked figure sneered. He didn’t stop and continued his approach.
Inside
"Master, that person doesn’t seem to be giving up," Rock said in an uneasy tone.
My eyes flashed with understanding.
"He must have co here with specific intentions. This doesn’t seem like simple probing. Old man Rock, I think you have to make a move," I told him.
Rock nodded. "Don’t worry, Master. Though my mana core is injured, I can confront him with my physical strength."
I stood up and said, "You don’t have to engage in a long battle. Just exchange a few moves. In the anti, I’ll alert the neighborhood and the authorities. I doubt the person will continue to stay here once they arrive."
Old man Rock’s eyes flickered; he liked the idea. A second later, he left the house to intercept the unknown Magic Lord.
I then made my way toward the terrace. I had so items with that could be useful at a ti like this.
Outside
Before the cloaked figure could get near the house, he felt a Magic Lord-level aura rushing toward him.
When the figure saw the person, he recognized him. According to his intel, this Magic Lord was one of the staff mbers here.
The face hidden under the hoodie turned ugly. If a full confrontation happened, the fight would alert the entire neighborhood.
People would rush to the spot. He was unwilling to retreat, but he couldn’t leave without sothing to show for it.
His eyes flashed with a fiery glint. The next second, he sped toward the old man to attack. If he used a Magic Lord-level spell here, he would have no defense to save himself later.
He would be imprisoned, as the use of high-level magic spells was forbidden in this area. He could only rely on brute force now.
Old man Rock was smiling. He saw through the enemy’s thoughts. Unlike the intruder, Rock had no such limitations.
His mana core was damaged, so he couldn’t use spells anyway. However, his bones and physique could still exert the power of a Magic Lord due to his bloodline.
Swoosh!
In a flash, they clashed. Old man Rock’s punch t the fist of the cloaked wizard.
Boom!
As the attacks connected, an earth-shattering noise erupted. The deafening sound was so powerful that it jolted everyone in the neighborhood awake.
Even the guards and people passing by on the street stopped to see what had happened.
Old man Rock stood as stable as a mountain, but the black-cloaked figure was flustered.
He was a Magic Lord himself, yet he held his blood-soaked right arm and looked at the old man in front of him with terror.
Just one confrontation was enough to confirm that the Magic Lord in front of him was a body-type wizard.
"He didn’t use a spell because of the ban. If he had used one against , I would be dead right now," the cloaked figure thought.
He broke out into a cold sweat. He looked around and found that the neighborhood was awake and the buildings were lit. He couldn’t stay any longer.
He had wanted to collect intel, and he had finally done so. The information that the old man was a body-type Magic Lord was enough.
