’Combined with my increasingly profound lightness skill and leg techniques, wouldn’t I be unstoppable if I used them for assassinations?’
So, Wu Liangchen decided he would add archery to his daily training regin.
However, Wu Liangchen’s archery practice no longer focused on precision. After all, he had already reached the absolute limit of his current cultivation level.
Further practice would be pointless.
To achieve a breakthrough, he had to approach it from a different angle.
So, Wu Liangchen had his n randomly place nurous mice throughout the woods, each tied by a rope.
Then, he would stand a hundred paces away and pinpoint the targets based purely on sound.
This was where the formidable nature of Wu Liangchen’s five senses beca apparent.
He wasn’t quite used to it at first, but he soon learned to approximate their locations by listening for the subtle rustling of the mice.
Yet even so, his hit rate remained low.
After all, the mice were tiny. And even with ropes tied to their hind legs, they still scurried about constantly, making it incredibly difficult to score a hit.
Wu Liangchen wasn’t worried; this wasn’t a skill that could be mastered overnight. Once he had emptied his quiver, he put away his bow, and his n imdiately went to retrieve the arrows from the woods.
Yan Feng looked on in admiration at the few mice skewered on the arrowheads. This was from a hundred paces away, after all, and in the dead of night.
"Brother Wu, how did you get so good at archery? Could you teach ?" Yan Feng couldn’t help but ask.
" too!" a few other young n chid in.
Wu Liangchen smiled. "I have no problem teaching you, of course. But as for how I trained... I’m not really sure myself. I just kind of ssed around on my own, and this is how it turned out."
Hearing this, the crowd was overco with admiration.
"Is the patrol roster set?" Wu Liangchen asked.
"Everything’s been arranged. Just as you ordered, we’ve been divided into three teams, each taking a four-hour shift."
"Good. Has everyone been notified?"
"They’ve been notified, but, Brother Wu..." Yan Feng hesitated.
"Hm?"
"Are you sure about opening tomorrow? Why not wait a few more days? We can open after this blows over. I’m sure everyone would understand."
Hearing this, Wu Liangchen chuckled. "And what if this hasn’t blown over in a few days? Are we supposed to stay closed forever? We might not mind, but what about the girls?"
Wu Liangchen had no desire to stand on a moral high ground and condemn these won, like so out-of-touch lord asking why the starving don’t simply eat cake.
As he saw it, these won were pitiable. Most had been forced into this life by desperation, selling their smiles to survive.
In a world like this, it was perhaps the only skill they had to survive.
And one thing was certain: under Third Brother Xie’s watch, no good woman had ever been forced into this profession.
Therefore, the only thing he could do was follow Third Brother Xie’s example: do his utmost to provide them with a fair environnt, free from bullying and oppression.
"But..."
"I know what you’re going to say, but this is sothing we can’t run from. If the Beheading Gang and the Black Banner Camp want to attack, they’ll co sooner or later. Instead of staying wound up tight and psyching ourselves out, we’re better off opening our doors and carrying on with life. That way, they won’t be able to figure us out, which will make them hesitate."
Realization finally dawned on Yan Feng. He nodded. "I understand, Brother Wu!"
"Go on. Your shift isn’t up yet, so go get so rest."
"Yes!"
Yan Feng led the n away, full of excitent. Wu Liangchen smiled, shook his head, and turned back toward his small courtyard.
The mont he stepped through the gate, Yang Lian’Er ca bounding out of the house. She tilted her head back with a smug look on her face.
"Notice anything different about ?"
