Once the eting between the Councilors had concluded, the seven Magi went on their separate ways.

Vulwin had to prepare for his journey to the Ulier Continent, while the rest, too, had important matters they needed to tend to.

However, four of the seven Councilors secretly rendezvoused at an unknown location within the fortress.

The small chamber was dimly lit, and the air reeked of ancient stone and parchnt. This was one of the rooms inside this grand fortress that hadn’t been used in centuries.

Agron Yeager, the leader of the Interventionists, couldn’t help but ask with a frown, "Conducting such a eting within the walls of the headquarters... you better have a good reason."

Nyle Damon, the leader of the Shadowblades, remained silent. His arms were crossed, and his old eyes were sharper than the finest blades as he leaned against the wall, cloaked in shadows.

"What is the matter now?" Asked an elderly dwarf. "Let us get this over with quickly. Lest soone suspects."

This stout figure was Kenton Hastings, the leader of the faction known as Free Agents.

All three of them looked toward the eldest Councilor in their organization, the leader of the diplomats, Uther Bowman.

The elderly human first turned to Nyle and spoke in a low, asured voice:

"Nipping the danger in the bud? That was not a wise thing to say."

Nyle Damon sneered, his cold voice echoing in the dimly lit room. "What I said was in line with my values and my faction’s goals. It would have been strange had I taken Vulwin’s side."

Agron and Kenton agreed, albeit reluctantly.

"Refrain from using such strong words, Nyle," said Uther. "We are in the endga of our grand plan. We wouldn’t want anything untoward to happen at the last stages now, do we?"

Nyle deeply glanced at the elderly man. In the end, he nodded. "I understand."

He paused for a mont, then asked what was on everyone’s mind. "Why have you summoned us?"

Uther Bowman remained silent for a long ti. Then, he intently looked at the three Councilors before him and solemnly said:

"Berger has beco an unexpected variable in our Lord’s grand plan. We never thought that he’d advance to the Mana Core Rank. He must be dealt with. He is... dangerous."

Nyle was the first to react, his tone laced with frustration. "Then why did you have to undermine my words at the eting?"

Kenton glanced at the leader of the Shadowblades with a sneer. "All you know is blood and murder. Use your brains sotis, will you?"

Before Nyle could start a quarrel, Uther interrupted him.

"Do not be so rash and hot-tempered, Nyle," he said. "Your enemies may use it against you."

Hearing his words, Nyle Damon had a dark look on his face. He cast a hateful glance towards the dwarf, then looked at Uther and silently nodded. He leaned back against the walls, cloaked in shadows once again.

Agron then spoke up, "How are you planning to take care of Berger then?"

Uther turned to him, his old and murky eyes gleaming with a crafty light. "I’m not."

Everyone couldn’t help but frown at those words.

"Then what is the plan?" Kenton asked. "How are we supposed to deal with Berger then?"

Uther’s lips curled into a faint smile. "We will make a move on Vulwin first."

Everyone was startled. But soon, they began to understand the true motive behind Uther Bowman’s words.

It was truly a wicked plan!

Initially, the Council of Dawn was secretly divided into two. The four Councilors currently gathered were Cult spies, while the rest were not.

Through political maneuvering, Uther and the other three spies made sure that no reinforcents were sent to the Battle of Ravenfell, thus ensuring Gerald Acadia’s death.

Gerald was the oldest mber of the Twilight Brotherhood, and soone who embodied its true values. However, he was also one of the biggest obstacles in the Cult’s plan for world domination.

After Gerald’s death, it was imperative that his disciple, Berger, too, followed in his footsteps. And so, the Cult’s spies in the Council of Dawn ca up with this plan to deal with the gno indirectly.

Based on what had transpired in the eting earlier, it was clear to everyone that Vulwin Preskian, the leader of the Wild Watchers, would set out on a journey to look for Berger and bring him to the Brotherhood’s headquarters in Europa.

But if the elf were to die in his journey, what was stopping Uther and the other three from claiming that Berger had been the one to kill him?

In doing so, they would have killed two birds with one stone.

Not only would Uther and the rest succeed in truly making Berger the enemy of the Brotherhood, but they would also have increased their power within the organization.

With Gerald and Vulwin gone, only two Councilors remained who were fiercely loyal to the Brotherhood. How long would Uther, Agron, Nyle, and Kenton take to completely take over the Twilight Brotherhood then?

The answer was simple.

"Who do you want to finish the job?" Agron asked solemnly. "Vulwin is a powerful Magus. It would be better if we dealt with him far away from Europa. Hopefully, sowhere secluded."

"Do not fret." Uther waved his hand casually. "We have just the person to deal with such situations, do we not?"

All of them simultaneously turned towards the figure leaning against the wall, draped in shadows.

Nyle glanced at Uther, not at all surprised that he was chosen to finish this task. Then, he said with a faint nod:

"Fine, I shall deal with that pompous elf."

After this important matter had been discussed, the Cult spies shifted to the next topic of discussion—one that was equally important, if not more.

Agron turned to Uther and spoke in a solemn voice, "We still have not been able to locate Adam Constantine. All kinds of divination magic have proved to be useless. We might not even know if he’s alive—"

However, before he could complete his words, Uther interrupted him, "He is alive. I assure you that."

Silence descended between the Magi. At last, it was Nyle who spoke up:

"Once we officially label Berger a traitor, we might have to do the sa with his disciple."

"Do not worry about Adam Constantine," said Uther, his lips curling into a faint smirk.

"The path he walks will ultimately lead to our Lord. It is all but inevitable."
