A do of all-consuming darkness covered most of the battlefield.
The gravity within it and in the surroundings beca so erratic that even the very ground started to tremble.
Just a mont later, cracks started to appear on the surface of the black do. Then, it shattered into countless pieces before dissipating into the air.
When the dust settled and the pale light of the twin moons once again illuminated the bloody plain, a grotesque scene soon beca visible.
All the Magi, who were in Adam’s imdiate vicinity, were reduced to a bloody at paste. It didn’t matter if they were Mana Foundation, Mana Liquefaction, or even Mana Vortex Magi. They had all t their ends.
In a single move, dozens of these rcenaries and adventurers had perished.
The Magi who were fortunate enough to retreat in ti or had maintained considerable distance from the madman didn’t fare well either. The weaker ones had died, while the stronger ones were brutally injured.
All in all, only a little more than a dozen Magi had survived Adam’s vicious attack. All of them were in dire states, and it was evident that they would not be able to battle any further.
As for Adam... he stood tall on the other side of the battlefield. His tunic was drenched in blood, a result of the katana wound he had sustained to his lung. His hands were trembling ever so slightly from the vast mana output earlier.
But other than that, he was fine.
"Hmm," he humd in thought, stroking his chin. "This was only the second ti I used this move. I thought it would take care of all of youse, but surprisingly it didn’t. Did I do sothing wrong? I wonder."
On the other side of the battlefield, Tensei slowly stood up, his feet trembling. His body was riddled with injuries. It could have been much worse if his guard hadn’t tanked the majority of the shockwaves from Adam’s attack. As a result, however, the man had perished.
Tensei had also utilized another defensive artifact to be able to survive Adam’s last move. He looked around him and realized that, including him, only fifteen had survived. Most of them were Mana Vortex Magi. As for the rest... they were as good as dead.
Fear crept into his heart as he realized what was going to happen now. Since none of the survivors were in fighting shape, Adam was going to slaughter them all.
No! I can’t... I can’t die... not like this, he scread inwardly.
He coughed out a mouthful of blood, then stabilized himself. He raised his head, looking towards the other side of the battlefield. Then, his pupils constricted, and a heavy feeling of dread gripped his heart.
Adam had disappeared.
Splat!
Once again, the sound of flesh rending and blood spilling echoed on the battlefield. Tensei turned to the side, just in ti to see Adam impaling a severely injured Mana Vortex Magus with his bare hand.
Tensei’s eyes trembled in fright. He retreated a few steps subconsciously, then turned around and broke into a desperate run.
"Huh?" Adam turned towards the handso swprdsman and muttered innocently, "What’s the matter? You don’t wanna play with anymore? How rude."
Throwing away the corpse to the side, Adam sauntered towards his next victim.
A warped grin twisted across his face as he giggled, "Ehehe, I’ll kill you all~"
He raised a foot and viciously stamped on a Magus’s head, shattering his skull and killing him.
He picked up a near-unconscious man, then viciously twisted his head and murdered him.
He grabbed a katana from the ground, then sliced off another man’s head. Then, he hurled the sword straight at another Magus who was crawling away in fear, accurately piercing his heart from the back.
One by one, he danced around the battlefield, laughing like a madman as he reaped the lives of all those who couldn’t even put up a fight.
He laughed and laughed and laughed.
Then, he killed and killed and killed.
They were all defenseless.
Yet, he killed them all nonetheless.
Finally, Adam arrived before the final survivor of the battle, excluding Tensei. He crouched down before the middle-aged Mana Vortex Magus, who had an arm missing, and smiled as he said, "Hey, are you alright?"
The man simply glared at him hatefully.
"...Just kill ," he said in the local language.
Adam blinked. "Why should I kill you? Let’s have a conversation like civilised n, shall we?"
"You twisted fucker!" The one-ard man roared, grimacing in pain. "Just kill —"
His words got caught in his throat when Adam raised his foot and viciously shattered his kneecaps.
"AAAAHHH—" The man scread in agony, but was imdiately interrupted when Adam shoved a healing potion in his mouth.
"Wait for . I’ll be right back," said the madman as he disappeared from his spot.
anwhile, the one-ard man was dumbfounded. Torn between death and survival, he instinctively chose to live. He quickly consud the potion, hoping the madman would actually let him live.
The next mont, Adam appeared with Tensei in tow. The once-proud swordsman now hung limp in his grasp, bruised and bloodied beyond recognition.
Adam tossed him to the side, then turned to the one-ard man. He then said with a genuine smile, like he was talking to a dear friend:
"I’ve decided to let you live, okay? You are very welco. I’m such a generous and handso man, no?"
Of course, the one-ard man was utterly clueless. He didn’t know what Adam was saying. He simply looked at the madman with a dumbfounded expression.
Adam’s smile widened. "Hehe."
The one-ard man shuddered. Then, under his stunned gaze, Adam picked up his katana.
"What’re you doing?!" The one-ard man roared.
But Adam simply ignored him. He turned to Tensei and asked with a happy smile, "Any last words?"
Tensei gnashed his teeth in utter fury. Though his eyes flashed with fear, his tongue still spoke words of pride:
"You won’t get away with it, outsider! The Arakuro Clan will—"
Slash!
With the sa smile on his face, Adam beheaded the handso swordsman.
"That was a rhetorical question, dumbass," he said, laughing uncontrollably.
Tossing the katana to the side, he quickly walked to the one-ard man, much to the latter’s shock and fear.
Right at that mont, a tiny orb of light slowly erged from Tensei’s headless corpse. It hovered above the cold body for a brief mont before shooting in Adam’s direction.
Seeing the orb of light hurling straight towards him, Adam grinned. "Ah, this reminds of the good ol’ days."
He grabbed the one-ard man by the throat and yanked him forward, just in ti for the glowing orb of light to slam itself in the man’s chest instead of his.
Adam’s grin widened, and he tossed the man aside.
The one-ard man was in a stunned daze, not being able to quite register what had just transpired.
It was only a few monts later did he realize what had truly happened and why Adam had left him alive. Enraged, he turned towards the madman and scread in a shaky voice:
"B-bastard, what have you done—"
But Adam delivered a simple chop to the one-ard man’s neck, knocking him unconscious.
He then scanned the bloody battlefield filled with broken weapons and mutilated corpses with a wide grin.
"I suppose it’s ti to head to the Dark Valley," he muttered in a happy voice.
Suddenly, the mimic called out to him, chirping excitedly, "Gege! Gege!"
Adam reprimanded, "No, you cannot eat them!"
"Gege..."
