The mysterious space within the white lotus was the magical place where all the devoured souls were stored.
As Adam looked around this mystical place, he couldn’t help but marvel at it.
"Truly a divine artifact birthed by nature itself could make sothing like this possible," he murmured.
There were thousands upon thousands of motes of light in this mysterious place. When Adam inherited this artifact, there were only around four thousand of these light orbs.
But now, there were several thousand more. Just in the battle of Kurogane Pass, he was able to harvest so many souls from the deaths of those Magi.
The Eternal Soul Lotus erased the Will of the soul and stored only the Vessel and the Spark inside this mysterious space. The Will contained the being’s personality and individuality, the Vessel contained the mories and experiences, and the Spark consisted purely of spirit energy that tied the soul to the body.
Because of this miraculous function of the lotus, Adam hadn’t developed multiple personalities in himself and gone mad. Because of this very reason, he had been able to increase his own spirit energy, at the sa ti absorbing the mories and experiences of the deceased experts.
Now Adam was here back again. He planned to absorb the souls of all those he had killed and increase his own spirit energy. This, in turn, would allow him to expedite his soul’s healing process.
Ever since he had fallen from grace and turned half mad, he had been visiting this place and slowly absorbing souls. But now, he planned to turn it up a notch.
He sat cross-legged in mid-air, then waved his hands and stretched them wide. His action caused the souls of the experts Magus Julian Stockholm had slain to move to the edges of this mysterious space.
These light orbs were far too strong for him to absorb even now. He recalled that every ti he absorbed one of them, his soul would receive a backlash. He couldn’t afford to do that now considering that his soul was already in such a precarious state.
So, instead, he was going to absorb all the souls of the people he had personally slain. Their strength ranged from the Mana Foundation to the Mana Vortex Rank. There were also a handful of Mana Core-level souls.
His dark eyes glead with resolve, and in the next mont, he brought his hands together.
Clap!
A thunderous sound echoed through the mysterious space. In its wake, the thousands of souls of the beings he had slain were pulled toward him, forming a vast vortex with Adam at its center.
One by one, they were drawn in, slowly absorbed into his spirit body. The light of each soul flickered as it vanished into him, feeding his own broken soul and fueling the transformation already underway.
Now, under any other circumstances, absorbing such a vast number of souls in such a short span of ti would have put trendous pressure on him.
However, the abnormal flow of ti in the Dark Valley made this process possible. What seed like a short span of ti was, in fact, happening over weeks... or months... perhaps even years!
Inside the mysterious space, the souls spiraled towards Adam in a steady, unending stream. Each one was pulled into him and disappeared without a trace. The vortex around him tightened, growing denser as more souls were absorbed.
Back inside his spirit sea, the effects beca gradually tangible. The waters surged and churned, rising and falling as if responding to so vast internal tide. The deep cracks splitting the sky above trembled and slowly grew together, faint lines of light stitching them closed.
The boundaries of the spirit sea pushed outward, expanding further than before. The spirit energy inside grew cleaner, denser, and more refined. Despite the violent process driving it, the transformation itself looked almost serene.
An entire inner world was repairing, strengthening, and remaking itself in real ti!
The transformation continued, his spirit sea expanding and refining itself with every passing mont. The waters surged with rising power, and the cracks in the sky were knitted back together until only faint seams remained.
But then... the growth slowed.
And finally ca to a halt.
Inside the mysterious space, Adam slowly opened his eyes. His dark pupils flashed with remarkable brilliance and power.
A light frown appeared on his face. He looked around and noticed that there were still many orbs of light he hadn’t yet absorbed.
Yet, why did the transformation stop?
Soon, he realized why.
"...I see," he murmured.
It wasn’t Adam’s lack of skill or potential. No, of course not. He could feel that plainly.
The bottleneck ca from outside himself!
The world simply would not permit his spirit to grow any further!
He had reached the absolute limit, the highest threshold a Mana Core Magus’s spirit energy could attain!
His spirit energy had pressed against the very ceiling of this world, and could go no higher!
The laws of the universe forbid it!
Adam’s spirit energy had always stood one full rank above his arcane rank. And now, it had reached the very limit of the Mana Core Rank. To elevate it any further, he would have to travel to a higher world, one whose laws would permit such growth.
Realizing this, he closed his eyes.
When he opened them again, he was back inside his spirit sea.
The mont Adam had reached the limit of what this world would allow, his spirit sea had reacted. The waters grew brighter, shifting from a deep and murky blue to a sharp, crystalline hue.
Waves rolled outwards in a steady rhythm, each one expanding the boundaries of his spirit sea until it reached its final permitted size.
Above, the fractured sky shuddered. The cracks that had been slowly healing now sealed completely, forming a smooth, unbroken do of light. The sky stabilized and reached the final, perfected stage.
Adam lowered his head, his gaze landing on the giant white lotus that rested in the depths.
Soon, he smiled.
He could feel it. The lotus had finally erged from its state of dormancy.
For the first ti in a long, long ti...
The Laughing God whispered.
But this ti...
The Eternal Soul Lotus suppressed the ravings!!
