Adam’s eyes darted from one word to the next as he read the letter from the Sect Leader of the Shadow Sect.
Before descending into the Dark Valley, the two had exchanged ans of communication. The hermit was the only other person Adam had written to. After all, he needed to know the current affairs in the East.
After reading the letter, he once again burned the parchnt into ashes. He couldn’t help but sigh. He closed his eyes and slipped into deep thought.
The Fourth Great War lasted almost a decade.
The Tsuitsui Clan benefited a lot from this war. After all, they were able to conquer a lot of territories that belonged to the Tiesha Tang.
But no one benefited more than the Heavenly Demon Divine Cult. Led by the Heavenly Demon himself, this newly ford organization erged victorious in its battle against the Arakuro Clan.
In fact, the Heavenly Demon had personally slain the Arakuro Clan’s Patriarch!
After the battle ended, the Arakuro Clan’s standing diminished severely. They were no longer part of the Nine Great Sects and Clans, their position taken by another clan that had erged in power and influence during the war.
A lot of n from the Arakuro Clan had died at the hands of the Heavenly Demon’s forces. It would take a very long ti for them to stabilize. Perhaps, they never would. Only ti would tell.
The Heavenly Demon Divine Cult had erged as a formidable force that was now feared both by the Orthodox and the Unorthodox Factions.
Strangely enough, the Heavenly Demon vanished after the Fourth Great War had concluded. In his place, a new Mana Core Magus had taken the mantle of the Heavenly Demon.
As for where the first Heavenly Demon went, no one knew...
Adam’s lips curled into an amused smile as he thought to himself, That guy... just what is he planning?
Hmm, I should get in touch with him as well.
In the letter, the hermit also ntioned that Goro Tsuitsui had advanced to beco a Mana Core Magus. Adam wasn’t surprised by this. After all, the Venom Dragon was a generational talent and at least fifty years older than him.
Good for him, he thought with a smile.
The Shadow Sect had, as their na implied, remained in the shadows for the entirety of the war, ensuring that damage was kept to a minimum and didn’t spill over to affect the mortals of the realm.
Gege had also settled within the sect, a fact that made Adam happy.
Poor guy, who knows how many years he suffered in loneliness in Mabi, he wondered.
It’s good that he’s around people now. The disciples of the Shadow Sect are good-natured. I hope he’s having a good ti.
When all this is over, I should go and pay him a visit.
Other than that, the realm had stabilised after the great war.
There was another piece of information that made Adam feel a little sad.
It seems Goro and Reika still haven’t stopped looking for ...
That was right.
Ever since his disappearance after the conclusion of the Battle of Kurogane Pass, the Tsuitsui Clan had spared no effort to send Magi far and wide in search of him.
The Clan knew the pivotal role Adam had played in the victory at Kurogane Pass. But even if one were to exclude that, he had ford a sort of strong bond with certain mbers of the Clan. As such, they were sowhat saddened by his disappearance.
Adam promised in his heart that he would visit them when the threat of the Cult of Bones was over.
He began writing a follow-up letter to the hermit, telling him that he’d stay in touch. Over ti, he would also share more critical intel with him that would allow the factions of Yen-Lu to prepare for the upcoming calamity. Of course, he’d still have to be cautious of the realm’s hidden ruler.
But for now, Adam had to focus on personal developnt.
After sending the letter, he weaved a simple hand seal and teleported out of his private quarters. A mont later, he was standing on the ship’s mast.
He sat down cross-legged and felt the strong winds brush against his face. His gaze remained locked onto his hand.
Just one hand seal, he thought.
That’s all it took for to cast the teleportation spell.
Spells typically required around nine to twelve hand seals for their physical component to be considered complete. The deeper a Magus’s understanding of that spell, the fewer hand seals were needed.
In fact, beyond a certain arcane rank, a Magus could cast spells without the need for weaving any hand seals. This was a clear sign of their profound mastery over the spell’s underlying chanics.
Yet, after Adam’s recent transformation, he was already able to reduce the hand seals required for most spells from the School of Summoning down to a single one.
At its core, the School of Summoning was not about calling creatures or objects into existence.
It was about space.
Summoning magic operated on the principle that distance was negotiable. A summoned entity was not created, nor truly transported in the conventional sense. It was repositioned.
The spell established a temporary spatial connection between two locations, allowing matter, energy, or living beings to cross that boundary instantaneously.
Portals were the purest expression of this principle.
And what were portals, if not gates?
In that mont, Adam had an epiphany.
In my youth, I had firmly decided to specialise in the School of Summoning, he thought.
After studying the mories of the experts from the Greater Universe, I had co to a personal understanding that the School of Summoning trumped all other schools.
So is it really a coincidence that the abomination I fought in the Dark Valley just so happened to be an otherworldly creature ford from the very concept of gates?
This sort of coincidence isn’t like the subtle manipulations of the Will of the World. No, this is far more likely the result of my altered flow of fate brought about by the Lotus.
The more he thought about it, the more it made sense.
The Eternal Soul Lotus subtly altered the flow of fate around Adam. It did not force outcos, but caused events aligned with his own choices to converge towards him.
Once he chose to specialize in the School of Summoning, fate bent accordingly.
Decades later, he encountered the abomination ford from the very concept of gates. After transplanting its bloodline and eyes, his understanding of summoning magic deepened dramatically.
These were not random events.
The Lotus drew calamities and opportunities that resonated with Adam’s interests into his path.
Thus, turning coincidence into convergence!
