Anna’s brows rose in disbelief as she covered her open mouth with her hand.
The envelope laughed awkwardly.
"Haha, I know it’s been a while, hasn’t it? Sorry for making you worry all this ti. I know it’s been twenty-sothing years since you last heard from , but I hope you understand why I couldn’t write. My mind was a ss, and I wasn’t in the best state back then."
The envelope slipped into silence. A mont later, it revealed a brilliant smile.
"But I’m fine now! Better than I’ve ever been. Before I continue, I just wanted to clear this up. Although I know you’d never believe all that propaganda they’re spreading about . But still... I want to get this off my chest."
The letter paused. A long ti later, it spoke with a wry smile.
"I didn’t do it. I never betrayed anyone."
Anna’s eyes turned teary, and she softly murmured, "I know, idiot..."
A long ti later, the envelope displayed a wide grin.
"Other than that, I’ve had the adventure of a lifeti! Rember, when I was a kid, and I used to tell you about my dream of traveling the world? Well, guess what? I did travel the world, and it was beautiful!
"After that battle, I spent several months in the Galestine Ocean. You won’t believe when I say this, but I lived on the shell of a giant turtle! The shell was as big as a city, perhaps even bigger. I call it the Coral Island. And the turtle? He’s as ancient as ti itself.
"I visited Mabi, the Land of Beasts. But few people know that the island-continent is also called the Land of the First Magi. It was the very place where the Magi first landed when they arrived in this world. You probably don’t know this hidden history, so I imagine that last part must sound like quite the bombshell."
And it did.
The mont Anna heard it, she was thunderstruck. All this while, she had assud that humans had evolved in this world. But now, it seed that the first humans actually ca from sowhere else.
She didn’t have long to dwell on this because the letter continued to deliver Adam’s ssage, not at all bothered by her stunned state of mind.
"Plenty of Mana Core-level beasts in Mabi. I nearly died a few tis as well. But as you know, your little brother is very hard to kill. So I survived all those deathly encounters, and it made stronger in return.
"I also learned about the ancient history of this world in old ruins found on that continent. There are civilizations that predate Mabi. I’ll tell you more about them when we et. After my adventures in Mabi, I traveled to Yen-Lu. And, boy, is that a mystical place!
"The culture and traditions of the lands in the East are completely different from the other continents. By the way, the people of Yen-Lu are quite xenophobic. So much so that only the human race calls it ho. As for the other races, you probably already guessed what happened to them."
The more Anna heard the envelope speak, the more shocked she beca. It was one surprise after another.
First Mabi and then Yen-Lu? Adam, just what the hell have you been up to?! She thought to herself.
The letter continued.
"I made so friends in Yen-Lu, and even taught martial arts to children in a prestigious sect. Oh, that’s right. They don’t have academies or even kingdoms and empires on that continent. Their organizational structure is dominated by sects and clans.
"I spent much of my ti with one of the prestigious clans in Yen-Lu, where they healed my body. The people there were warm and kind to . I even took part in the Great War that drew in all the great factions of the continent. I made quite a na for myself during that conflict, though, of course, it wasn’t under my real na.
"And now, I find myself in Europa. Care to take a wild guess, sister, where I’m writing you from? I’ll give you a hint... it’s known as the City of rchants."
Anna covered her mouth once again, her figure trembling.
"You what..."
Before she could continue, the enveloped laughed.
It laughed and laughed and laughed.
"That’s right," it said happily. "I am in Amberfall. Your ho!"
The red-haired princess couldn’t help but think about her family and how they might be worrying about her. Oh, how much she wanted to send word to them, telling them that she was fine.
Wait! She suddenly realized sothing.
Maybe I can finally write a letter now and give it to Lord Blackie, and then, he can send it to Adam. And since he’s already in Amberfall, then maybe he could—
"I know what you’re thinking," said the letter with a smile, interrupting her thoughts.
"Rest assured, I’ve already let them know of your well-being. Your mother, your elder brother, and your father were all very happy to learn that you were safe and sound. I’ve also inford them about the political dangers plaguing the land.
"I didn’t reveal my identity to them for obvious reasons. Adam Constantine was never there. Anyway, the capital is thriving, and the economy is booming. So you don’t have to worry at all. The Founder’s Day celebration was spectacular. The fireworks show was a sight to behold.
"You may not know this, but you now have a nephew. And no, I did not have a child. Marlow and Hazel have welcod a baby boy into the world. His na is Marcus, and he turned two this year. Oh, and by the way, your father’s a Mana Core Magus now.
"Anyway, I’m heading deeper into the mainland. There are a few things I need to take care of before I can return to Ulier. Hopefully, I’ll see you in a few years. I truly look forward to the day we et again. I still have so many more stories left to tell.
"Until then,
"With love from afar,
"Your little brother,
"Adam."
The letter burst into flas, crumbling into ash that drifted away in the wind. The barrier around Anna faded as well, yet she remained frozen on the spot.
With a flabbergasted look on her face, she murmured in a daze:
"My father... is a what now?"
