The giant iron gate bent, creaked, and groaned.

Until finally, it could no longer endure the tyrannical force of the Dark King. In the next heartbeat, it shattered upon impact and then dissipated into motes of light.

It was important to note that this gate — four of them, technically — was able to contain the corrupted giant inside the Dark Valley. Yet, it was blown to smithereens by Adam's powerful strike.

However, his expression did not reveal any satisfaction. Because at the last possible mont, the Cult Leader had completely managed to evade his attack.

With a grim look on his face, he landed on the ground. But the montum still carried him several ters forward as his feet skid across the earth.

Adam cursed inwardly, thinking that if the last attack had landed, it would have dealt significant damage to his opponent.

But alas, with the level and prowess of the Cult Leader, the raven-haired youth could only manage to land one strike after catching him off guard. It was wishful thinking to believe that the lich would let himself be hit another ti.

The youth looked around the battlefield, his Sphere of Resonance picking up on every little thing. At last, he located the enemy.

The Cult Leader stood atop a hill, glancing at the indent ford on his black armor. He calmly raised his hand and brushed the dirt away. Then he finally turned his attention to the Dark King.

His figure disappeared, then reappeared several dozens of ters away from the raven-haired youth.

It wasn't teleportation, but pure physical speed augnted by mana.

Watching that display of speed, Adam couldn't help but visibly frown. The lich's speed was on par with his. If he didn't use teleportation, that was.

The lich, now fully in control of his raging emotions and having kept the madness at bay, deeply looked at the raven-haired youth.

"So what if you killed Winter?" He asked, the green flas in his sockets calm and stable.

"So what if you altered the portals?" the lich continued. "The outco has only deviated slightly. You are right where I want you to be."

Adam's expression twisted into a scowl. But gradually, it loosened.

"Is that so?" he asked, seemingly casually.

"Why are you so obsessed with ?" he asked another question. "Judging by all those children you experinted on in the Mourning Mountains, my best guess is that you want a new body… a vessel. Am I right?"

The flas in the lich's eyes flickered ever so slightly. "Correct," he answered.

"Pray tell, what's wrong with your current body?" Adam asked innocently.

"You look quite sturdy to . Or could it be… are you the type of man who cares about their looks? What's the matter? Worried about how people might judge you?"

Toward the end, his words were blatantly oozing with mockery.

The Cult Leader wasn't offended in the slightest.

If anything, he felt… slightly relieved that the youth before him did not know everything. No one did.

"There are things beyond your understanding, Constantine."

As he said those words, his aura shifted. It beca dark and heavy. His shadow grew deeper, and the mana rolling off of him grew in intensity.

"No matter how much you struggle," the lich began.

"The outco will remain unchanged. You will perish, your army will be slaughtered, and this world will be offered to the devils."

Hearing those words, Adam couldn't help but sneer. "You sacrificed this world to those bastards! For what? What did they offer you? Tell !"

The lich remained silent. But his aura grew more and more dangerous as he prepared for battle.

"Is it a way to leave this world and venture to the Greater Universe?" Adam yelled.

"If so, all you have to do is wait till the planetary alignnt! You do not need to sacrifice the billions of innocent lives in this world! You don't need to work with the devils!"

The flas in the lich's eyes flickered for a split second. "You know about the planetary alignnt…"

But in the next mont, his words turned cold and ruthless. "But you know nothing about the devils."

The Cult Leader found it laughable that Adam was so ignorant despite being so knowledgeable.

Don't need to sacrifice this world to Hell? Don't need to work with the devils?

How foolish!

He had already found the thod to leave this world long ago. But there was one problem: he would never live long enough to see that day.

The only solution to that problem had been lichdom. But immortality ca at a price.

And now…

The ti had finally co to pay it.

He decided that he had spoken enough with the youth. The ti had co to possess Adam's body. For all these years, he had walked forward without regret. He had sacrificed many lives, abandoned his humanity, and endured unimaginable corruption. It was finally ti.

"You are strong, Constantine," the lich began as his hands turned into a blur. "Stronger than Tian Di. Stronger than Lucian Acadia. And stronger than Volgron."

He finally weaved the hand seals. Following that, his shadow churned, and two identical, towering figures rose from it.

Grotesque figure, six arms, four heads… Adam was familiar with these monstrosities. He had fought several of them. And he had killed several of them.

But the youth's expression turned grave when he noticed just how powerful and superior these two were compared to the ones he had slain. These two undead radiated an explosive and deadly strength compared to elite Mana Core Magi.

"And that is why," the lich continued as the two four-headed abominations flanked him and lowered themselves into a fighting position.

"I shall hold nothing back against you."

His shadows twisted and stretched, encompassing a vast expanse of land behind him. And within his gargantuan shadow, a colossal portal to the Underworld materialized.

An eerie silence descended on the battlefield as the cold aura of death and rot slowly spread across every corner of the land.

Then, the lich's mana poured into the spell.

One by one, countless undead creatures began erging from the shadow behind him. Skeletal warriors, rotting corpses, grotesque flesh golems, and deathly monstrosities crawled forth endlessly from the Underworld itself.

In re monts, a terrifying undead army ford behind the Cult Leader.

Watching the vast army of undead behind the lich, as well as the two powerful four-headed abominations on either side of him, Adam couldn't help but turn utterly grim.

That was the problem with fighting Necromancers.

You were always outnumbered.

Yet the corner of Adam's lips couldn't help but curl upward. "Going all out against ? Guess, I should be honored."

With that said, he raised his hands and cast a few simple seals. Then his voice thundered across the battlefield.

"Co forth, my serpents of war."

For a mont, the battlefield remained silent, filled only with the snarls and screeches of the restless undead army.

But in the very next mont, even the undead fell silent. For they had sensed it, a vast, ancient, and predatory aura descending upon them.

And then…

Everyone heard it.

From the Magi fighting in the great labyrinth to the other Mana Core Magi battling across separate battlefields.

Every single person heard the sa terrifying sound.
