Now reading: Chapter 682: Macabre Domain from Greatest Legacy of the Magus Universe, a Action novel by Esenel.

An aura of death spread all over the manor. Furthermore, the darkness that had descended earlier seed to have further amplified this dreadful aura.

That was essentially the purpose of the Macabre Domain - to enhance spells that fell under the School of Necromancy and to spread an aura of terror so potent that it vanquished any will to fight back within the opponent.

One by one, from the dark miasma that had covered the ground, skeleton soldiers started erging. Their eye sockets were hollow, except for the green orbs of lights that flickered inside.

Before Adam knew it, about a dozen skeleton soldiers had already appeared, standing between him and Olin Barrett.

"You don't have to go so far, do you?" Adam laughed nervously. "Let's talk it out like gentlen, eh?"

"You think of yourself as a jester—" Olin's words were once again interrupted as the ground beneath him transmuted into spears, threatening to impale him once again.

But once again, he effortlessly dodged them. However, the sa couldn't be said about his skeleton soldiers.

All of them had been impaled by the stone spears that had erged from the ground.

Adam swiped his hand in a downward motion, causing several large fists to form from the room's ceiling. These fists then ruthlessly punched the skeletons that had been impaled, and then proceeded to create multiple craters on the floor.

BAM!

The entire second floor trembled from the sheer impact of the punches. When the fists retreated back into the ceiling, all that was left of the skeletons were splintered bones and ivory ashes.

However, Adam didn't feel any sense of accomplishnt. He knew what it was like to go up against a necromancer. He had seen it in the mories he had devoured.

Necromancers were essentially a one-man-army. If a Magus had to deal with them, they would have to go for the head. Anything else would be futile.

As if confirming his thoughts, the very next mont, the small pieces of bones were drawn to each other. They magically coalesced into skeletons once again.

Nothing had changed!

Suddenly, Adam's eyes narrowed and he rolled sideways. A split second later, Olin had appeared behind him and swiped his claw-like hand towards his head.

Adam imdiately made distance, jumping all the way to the other end of the room. When he gazed at the black, rotting energy surrounding Olin's hand, his back was drenched in a cold sweat.

Rank 3 Spell: Leeching Hand!

A spell from the School of Necromancy that siphoned the vitality from the target.

"Quite quick on your feet, aren't ya, boy?" Olin Barrett coldly smirked. "I wonder how long you can run."

Adam's expression turned solemn and he clasped his hands again, interlocking his fingers, and swiped it horizontally.

The next mont, several large pillars erged from the wall beside Olin and ramd against him.

BOOM!

Olin evaded the attack yet again, however, the pillars had destroyed the walls on the other side of the room, completely decimating that area.

"Trying to draw attention, eh?" Olin coldly chuckled. "Well, too bad for you. I'll be long done before any reinforcents arrive. Now quickly die and beco my undead servant!"

Adam's expression grew solemn by the second. He quickly weaved a series of hand seals and cast a spell, not on Olin, but on his skeleton soldiers who were almost near him.

Rank 2 Spell: Fireball!

At once, three large spheres of blazing fire materialized above Adam's head. With a simple motion of his hand, he hurled the Fireballs at the dozen or so skeleton soldiers, instantly incinerating them.

Seeing such a scene, Olin's eyes narrowed. His expression turned a little serious, but not because his undead skeletons were burned, but because of the number of Fireballs Adam was able to cast just now.

Triple-casting so effortlessly… This boy… I must kill him at all costs. If given ti to grow, he'll beco a big hindrance to the Cult. I cannot allow that to happen.

No longer displaying a flippant attitude, Olin weaved a simple hand seal and summoned even more undead. This ti, dozens of skeleton soldiers appeared before Adam, all of them attacking him at once.

Adam quickly stepped back as the wall behind him parted. He entered through the wall and then willed it in his mind the next mont, causing the wall to close back up again.

Having carved runes all throughout his house, he was able to change the terrain according to his will.

Without wasting any mont, Adam exited the adjacent room, planning to escape his manor. If he made enough commotion, the Councilors would no doubt hear it.

It was difficult for a single person to go up against a Necromancer. Usually, one would require a large group of people to go up against one of their kind.

For the next few minutes, Olin summoned more and more of his undead servants. Adam continued to utilize Rune Magic and transform the walls, ceilings, and floor of his manor into formidable weapons and constructs.

But no matter how many tis he got rid of the undead, more seed to take their place. By now, more than half of his manor lay in ruins. Adam's clothes were tattered and he was sweating profusely.

"Out of mana?" Olin asked with a taunting look in his eyes.

Adam's breathing had turned ragged as he panted for air. His shoulders heaved up and down miserably as he defiantly looked at the dozens of undead soldiers before him, and Olin, who stood amongst them.

Olin looked at the deep fighting spirit in the youth's eyes and coldly stated, "Adam Constantine, you are but a Mana Liquefaction Magus with limited strength, mana, and stamina."

He waved his hand and commanded his undead skeletons to dash toward him as he added, "You are trapped in a mortal cage, limited indefinitely. Only when you strip away the flesh are you truly free. But until then… you are full of limitations!"

Seeing the horde of skeletons run toward him with blatant killing intent, Adam roared in fury and defiance. "If mana won't work on your cursed undead, then I have exactly the thing that will! Even if I go down, I won't go down without a fight, you damned cultist!"

The following mont, he gathered energy, not from his mana reserves, but from a separate source entirely. His fists were slowly coated by an ethereal white light that radiated an otherworldly energy.

When Olin witnessed this scene, his eyes widened in disbelief.

"Spiritual energy!"
