Chapter 808: Underground Vault
After walking through the maze-like corridors, the two finally arrived before a pair of towering tal doors.
The door was unlike anything Adam had ever seen. It was more than twenty ters tall and carved with intricate runes all over its surface.
He was amazed for a few monts before his lips started to twitch. Now, how am I supposed to open this? He wondered.
After all, he was in pretty bad shape at the mont and could barely even walk. Just when he thought of calling out loud, the towering doors suddenly rumbled.
Then, it slowly started to open, revealing the scene inside to Adam. The raven-haired youth’s eyes gradually started to widen in disbelief as he followed Valerian inside.
The vault had one single pathway running down the middle, and each of its sides was filled with rows of towering wooden shelves that contained countless artifacts and carefull preserved magical ingredients.
Thick pillars placed strategically throughout the place supported this underground vault, and its arched ceilings contained murals of mythical beasts and breathtaking scenery that one wouldn’t otherwise find in Tron.
“Woah…” he couldn’t help but exclaim in wonder.
The vast majority of the items in the vault were magical artifacts, followed by precious ores and other materials that Artificers would usually require.
Then, there were rare herbs and ingredients stored in jars and containers that were inscribed in runes. Lastly, there were very few books in here, as most of them were stored away in the Soaring Library.
The two made their way to the other end of the vault, where the Joker was lounging on a large, fluffy cushion, eating fruits and drinking wine.
Seeing him behave so nonchalantly, Adam’s lips twitched, and he couldn’t help but wonder, Is this all he does when he’s not sleeping?
“You’re finally awake,” said the Joker, glancing at the youth’s bloodied and bandaged body with an amused expression.
“I must say, that was quite entertaining,” he added.
Adam resisted the urge to roll his eyes. He also didn’t directly get to the part about learning about the twin moons.
Instead, he looked around the vault and asked curiously, “How co everything in here is mostly artifacts?”
While he was looking around, Valerian ran towards the large cushion and comfortably took a seat near the joker. He then began indulging in the delicious fruits that were only grown in this secret plane.
It would appear that while Adam was knocked unconscious, the young dragon had beco quite familiar with the overseer of the Soaring River Secret Plane.
The Joker gently patted Valerian’s head, then turned to Adam and answered with an arched eyebrow, “What do you an ‘how co’?”
He paused for a mont as he got to his feet. He clasped his hands behind his back and stood beside Adam. “Didn’t I tell you my Master was a renowned Artificer while he was still alive?”
Adam’s eyes narrowed as he recalled the conversation he had had with the Joker the last ti he was here. Then, his eyes lit up, “Ah, that’s right! You did say that.”
The Joker shook his head, sneering at the youth, “Looks like you still haven’t recovered from the battle. You are going senile in your youth. Fafafa!”
Adam’s lips twitched, and he involuntarily touched his forehead—which was also bandaged.
He recalled the wind blade aid at his head. If he hadn’t dodged that spell in the nick of ti, he might have been decapitated. But he did, however, manage to acquire a deep gash on his head as a result.
“Damn it!” He couldn’t help but curse out loud. “That eagle was really trying to kill !”
The Joker rolled his eyes. “Stop being dramatic. You survived the ordeal, didn’t you? Not only did you pass the great guardian’s test, but you also earned her respect.”
He then turned towards the expansive vault and explained, “My Master had forged many artifacts in his lifeti and had gathered even more. Don’t forget, he travelled to several planets in the Greater Universe and went on many adventures.”
Adam’s eyes flashed with a look of yearning. Ever since he had co to acquire the lotus and witnessed the mories of the experts, he had been longing to go to the Greater Universe.
That place was rife with adventures and opportunities. As soone who had the spirit of a wanderer, how could he ever be restricted to Tron?
He wanted to travel to the far reaches of the universe and experience the myriad wonders it had to offer!
The Joker continued, “All of those artifacts, among other things, are safely stored in this vault. When the secret plane opens every thirty years, I handpick the children’s rewards from this very place.”
“I see.” Adam nodded in understanding.
“Now then.” The Joker turned to the raven-haired youth and asked with a smirk, “Are you ready for your reward?”
Adam took a deep breath and stated, “But before that, I must ask sothing of you.”
“Oh?” The Joker was intrigued. “What is it?”
His expression then darkened, and he couldn’t help but sternly add, “But do not be too greedy!”
“Haha, rest assured!” Adam raised his hands in surrender. “I’m not a greedy man at all. Whatever I ask of you will be within your ans to grant.”
The Joker rolled his eyes and then gestured for the youth to continue.
“Firstly, I would like to receive so herbs and ingredients from this vault,” Adam began. “I wish to concoct a dicinal bath for myself.”
He glanced at the injuries all over his body. Except for his face, every inch was covered in bandages that had already been stained by his blood. He couldn’t leave the secret plane in this state, and if he waited for the injuries to heal on their own, that would take a lot of ti.
Adam didn’t have much ti, to begin with. The Grand Magus Tournant was just around the corner. Moreover, he also had to visit a few more places before he could return to Ravenfell.
Thus, he needed to expedite the ti it would take for him to heal his injuries. But there was also another reason why he wished to prepare this dicinal bath.
Considering all the precious herbs and ingredients stored in this vault, he was sure that he could create a concoction that would be on par with the Sacred Waters of Lustrum!
And that would not only allow him to heal his injuries, but also allow him to advance at least two more stages in physique enhancent!
