Chapter 826: Brighter Future

“Your sealing magic?” Adam was slightly taken aback.

It was not the offer that surprised him, but how the whole conversation was carried out.

The aged man gave Adam one command and then another, and surprisingly enough, he found nothing wrong with either.

He even found himself subconsciously nodding, thinking that the exchange wasn’t all that bad.

Wait!

He scread inwardly as a drop of sweat trickled down his forehead.

There’s sothing strange about this man, he thought.

I find myself agreeing to whatever he says. It’s like…

Adam couldn’t help but loudly gulp. “You… Why are you using enchantnt magic on ?”

For the first ti, the aged man showed a reaction. His lips curled into a faint smirk. “Berger was right. You truly have a gift in the spiritual aspect of magic.”

He paused for a mont, nodding ever so slightly. “I suppose that would be the result of your exceedingly pure spiritual energy that he told about.”

He raised his hand to nonchalantly stroke his long, white beard that reached down to his collarbones. “My offer still stands, boy,” he said. “My sealing magic in exchange for the mana-gathering runic formation.”

Adam looked the aged man in the eye and displayed an amicable smile. Seeing this, the man also thought that the deal had gone through.

But he couldn’t have been more wrong.

“Yeah, I don’t think so.” Adam displayed the sa friendly smile. “My runic formation is far too valuable to be exchanged for sealing magic. Besides, my area of interest doesn’t lie in the School of Abjuration.”

He paused for a mont, taking in the subtle change in the old man’s expression, before continuing, “If it was sothing related to the School of Illusion or Summoning, though… I might have thought about it.”

The elderly man’s expression turned stern. “Boy, are you looking down on my sealing magic?”

“No, my lord,” Adam respectfully answered. “How can I, a re Mana Vortex Magus, look down upon the magic of a mighty Mana Core Magus?”

He paused for a mont, his eyes flashing with conviction. “The truth is, it is you who is looking down on my rune magic.”

The elderly man remained silent, looking deeply at Adam’s visage. He was not used to people refusing his commands, after all.

Adam continued, “I think you very well know just how precious this runic formation is. Under its effects, a Magus could exponentially increase their speed of practicing mindfulness. Not to ntion, the land inside the runic formation would beco an arcane haven for Magi.”

The elderly man knew he was right. He remained silent for a few seconds before speaking, “What do you want in return?”

He paused for another mont, conjuring two grimoires from his storage artifact before tossing them at him.

“Since you’ve just advanced to the Mana Vortex Rank, this should be useful,” he said.

Adam curiously skimd the contents of the two thick tos. Each contained tens of Rank 3 spells, their fundantal principles, and every other knowledge pertaining to it.

One grimoire belonged to the School of Summoning, while the other belonged to the School of Illusion.

Spells were the rarest of all magical resources in the world of Magi. There were even instances where a Magus would advance a particular rank and still not use the spells of that rank because of their unavailability.

A single powerful spell, if preserved carefully, could beco a family heirloom. Moreover, the rarer and more unique the spell, the higher price it would fetch at the market.

That is, if the spell was circulated in the market in the first place.

Almost all spells could only be found at arcane institutions or in the possession of Magus families.

They were a highly precious commodity.

But this had never been a problem for Adam. In his mind, he had a treasure trove of spells that he had absorbed from the mories of the great experts of the Greater Universe.

Despite the fragnted nature of all the mories, he possessed spells that would serve him for a long ti.

At least, for the remainder of his ti in Tron.

He politely pushed the books back towards the aged man, offering an apologetic smile. “Forgive , my lord, but this…”

The elderly Magus waved his hand dismissively. “Put that away. What else do you need? Na it.”

Adam tried his best to prevent the smirk from appearing on his lips. He pretended to display a hesitant and uncomfortable front.

“Speak, boy.” The aged man’s eyes narrowed. It would appear that he would do anything to get his hands on the mana-gathering runic formation.

He had been observing Adam carve the runes for more than a week now. Despite trying to understand the magic involved, he was simply unable to.

The runes, the geotric patterns, and the arcane channels were too complex to understand and learn from a re glance.

He needed to study it.

Adam avoided eye contact, his lips opening and closing several tis as if he were greatly hesitating. “My Lord, I, uh… I would like to get my hands on the founder’s journals.”

The elderly Magus couldn’t help but frown. His eyes narrowed, and he muttered, “The founder’s journals? But they are useless.”

“I understand, my lord!” Adam’s eyes blazed with passion. “I know that several Magi before have tried to decipher those strange characters in the journals. I know that they have failed. But still…”

Adam clenched his fists, his gaze piercing the clouds. “I would still like to try to unravel the mysteries of the founder’s journal. Even though I might fail, I would still like to make the effort. If I never try… I’ll never know!”

He paused for a mont before slyly adding another term, “Oh, and I also have so interest in ritual magic. I don’t know if the Brotherhood has any knowledge regarding it…”

The elderly man did not know whether to laugh or cry.

He did not know whether Adam was cleverly optimistic or just plain foolish.

But regardless, he would not refuse this proposal. If this is what the youth wanted, he would give it to him.

Besides, he believed that the value of the things that Adam had asked for was nothing compared to that of the mana-gathering runic formation.

“Very well.” The elderly man nodded. “I will send word to Headquarters. The owl will deliver five of the founder’s journals to you within the week. Additionally, you will also receive five books on ritual magic.”

Five! Adam was ecstatic.

“Thank you, my lord! Thank you very much!”

Inwardly, he couldn’t help but snigger.

Those journals may be useless to everyone else on this planet, but to him, they were key to activating the portal on Luna and venturing into the Greater Universe!

Of course, if he could succeed in doing so, then many people would benefit from it.

In a way, his actions were for the betternt of all Magi on this planet.

For the sake of a brighter future for this world!

Adam’s heart was filled with righteousness, and he couldn’t help but think to himself, Ahhh…

I am such a selfless man!
