Adam abruptly rose to his feet, the chair crashing behind him and tumbling to the floor.

"It’s you!!"

He couldn’t believe his eyes at all. This was probably one of the, if not the, most shocking things he had ever experienced in his life.

Countless emotions swirled through his wildly beating heart in that split mont. So much so that he felt his heart would burst open from within.

First ca the terrifying shock that the Headmaster was also part of the Cult, and thus the reason for his casual expression when Adam divulged the information.

Then, when his gaze landed on this newcor, his heart sank.

He couldn’t help but wonder if this person also turned out to be a Cult spy... then how deeply corrupted had the Brotherhood beco?

This man appeared impossibly old, his skin thin and pale like weathered parchnt stretched over his bones and muscles, etched with deep lines of countless years.

Silvery-white hair crowned the old man’s head. His eyes, though sunken, held a tiless intelligence, as if they had seen the rise and fall of nations through centuries and had grown weary.

The elderly man was draped in robes of indigo and gold. He carried himself with an almost-perfect posture, so upright and composed that it defied his fragile figure.

Despite his frailty, an absolute aura of authority surrounded this man.

Dignified. Detached. Untouchable.

He did not command the surroundings; instead, the surroundings yielded to his presence.

And though the elderly man’s body had withered by ti, there was an undeniable weight to his presence... like that of a ruler!

Beneath the surface of this seemingly weak elderly man lay a force so vast, so tightly coiled, it was terrifying

Old. Absolute. Boundless.

Despite Headmaster Blackwood being present in the room, this elderly man’s aura completely outmatched him.

Realization dawned upon Adam...

That this elderly man was definitely more powerful than Marcus Blackwood!

And then ca another realization.

The mont this thought erged in the raven-haired youth’s mind, it completely took root and refused to let go.

Adam’s fear and suspicion were soon replaced by frustration and anger.

He didn’t care if the man before him was the strongest person he had ever t. Courtesy and respect be damned.

The youth gnashed his teeth in fury before letting out a roar, "Are you crazy?! If you’re here, then what about the Old Man?! How could you leave him out there alone?!"

A heavy silence descended in the room, soon infused with palpable tension.

For the first ti since Adam had arrived, or perhaps for the first ti in a very, very long ti, Headmaster Blackwood’s eyes trembled.

They flickered with emotions unlike anything before. He couldn’t believe what he was witnessing.

He was so stunned that his mind had gone blank for a brief mont.

Did he... did he just scream at the...

anwhile, the elderly Magus still remained comfortably seated in the high-back leather chair, unfazed by Adam’s words.

He gazed at him through his emotionless eyes—an action that caused Adam’s bones to turn seemingly brittle.

But he didn’t care.

He gritted his teeth and scread, "Answer ! What about the Old Man?!"

His worry for Berger was far stronger than the fear of offending this powerhouse.

To hell with everything!

If this elderly man were angered by his behavior, then he would activate the white lotus and teleport away without hesitation. No one could stop him anyway.

The elderly Magus deeply looked at the raven-haired youth, then shrugged. "What about him? He’s still in the Murky Mountains."

"HUH?!!" Adam was so speechless that he couldn’t form coherent words. Just incredulous sounds.

He walked toward the elderly man. But at the sa ti, he also made sure to keep enough distance in case the man snapped at him.

"The Old Man is going through the most important ordeal of his life, and you left him? Huh? Just like that?!" Adam had never been so frustrated in his life.

On the other hand, the elderly Magus was as calm as a cucumber. "That black mutt is more powerful than you think, boy."

Adam opened his mouth, wanting to argue even further, but soon closed it. A deep frown appeared on his face, and his heart seemingly cald down a little. Just a little.

"Blackie is..." He murmured. The wolf had always been an enigma to him.

anwhile, Headmaster Blackwood had already risen to his feet, walked around the table, and approached the fireplace.

He had a strangely perplexed look on his face as his gaze shifted between the seated elderly man and the standing raven-haired youth.

After a long mont of deliberation, he looked toward the elderly man and asked, his tone respectful, "You... know him?"

The elderly man turned towards the Headmaster and nodded ever so slightly. "We have t once."

t... once?

Blackwood was perplexed.

He turned towards the raven-haired youth, who had a pondering as well as an anxious look on his face, and thought, Adam has already t him, yet he’s speaking to him so disrespectfully?

Wait...

Blackwood thought of two possibilities.

Either Adam and this elderly Magus had a deep relationship, hence why the youth would dare to behave so rudely and aggressively towards the latter.

Or... Adam didn’t know the identity of the elderly Magus.

Blackwood imdiately struck off the first possibility because the elderly man claid that they had t only once.

He turned to Adam and lingered for a mont. Then, he asked, "Magus Constantine, are you aware of the identity of this esteed Magus?"

Adam was snapped out of his thoughts, albeit barely. His heart was still gripped by anxiety, thinking whether the Old Man was going to be safe in the mountains with just Blackie guarding him.

He nodded his head absentmindedly. "Yes, he’s the Old Man’s ntor."

Turning towards the Headmaster, he added, "I an, he’s my ntor’s ntor."

Now, Blackwood was truly perplexed. His brows creased into a slight knot as he turned towards the elderly Magus. "My Lord, is he speaking the truth?"

The elderly man silently nodded as he slowly shut his eyes.

Wait... ’My Lord’? Adam astutely picked up on the Headmaster using that honorific.

Why did he say...

The youth slowly turned towards the elderly man, his eyes gradually widening.

He only knew him as Berger’s ntor and a Mana Core Magus, who sat at the Brotherhood’s Council of Dawn.

That was it.

Adam didn’t even know his na.

But now, when he heard the Headmaster address the elderly man as ’Lord’, he slowly started to realize that the latter’s status must be truly extraordinary!

But what position could be greater than that of Headmaster Blackwood’s? Adam feared even to venture a guess.

"Does he know your identity?" Blackwood asked in a respectful tone.

The elderly man slowly shook his head, his eyes still shut.

Finally, Blackwood turned to Adam, who had a look of disbelief etched on his face, and sternly said, "Magus Constantine, you must apologize to him this instant!"

Adam involuntarily gulped. He then turned towards Blackwood and asked, his voice barely a whisper, "Headmaster... who is this man?"

Headmaster Marcus Blackwood remained silent for a mont before solemnly declaring:

"He is the Emperor Eritus... Gerald Acadia."
