Luiz Diaz approached the sidelines where his number was held up in red by the assistant referee.
So of the fans clapped for him and cheered for him as he made his way off, and Luiz Diaz clapped as well until he reached Jason.
High-fiving Jason, he stepped past him and walked off the field, headed to the bench as opposed to Jason who ran onto the field, his face a picture of determination, despite the fans cheering and calling his na.
This was not the ti for that, Jason thought to himself as he ran down the field to where Jesus Corona was, high-fiving Fabio Viera on the way to him.
On reaching Jesus Corona, he told him the manager’s instructions and Jesus Corona nodded his head in understanding and headed toward the left side of the Rio Ave penalty area.
While this was going on the Porto team was readying themselves for the free kick thanks to the foul from the Rio Ave left-back on Jesus Corona earlier.
Telles stood over the ball and stepped back, waiting for the referee to blow his whistle while his teammates arranged themselves just outside the penalty, awaiting a cross… of course, that would only happen if Telles decided that doing that was the better option in this situation.
Jason stood just a bit to the left of Telles and waited, not involving himself in the scuffle going on between the players of both teams as he knew that Telles was definitely going to take the free-kick directly.
As for how he knew… well, it was pretty obvious.
The foul had happened just outside the right corner of the Rio Ave 18-yard box and Telles was especially dangerous with free-kicks from this angle as he was a left-footed specialist.
The free kick was also close enough for him to be able to take it directly, so what else would he do but that?
After arranging the wall, the referee stepped out of the way and finally blew his whistle.
Upon hearing the whistle blown, Telles took a deep breath, ran up to the ball, and whipped the ball skillfully with his left foot.
The ball took off from the spot and curved around the wall, heading for the bottom corner of the Rio Ave goal.
The Rio Ave goalkeeper imdiately lunged into a dive with his hands outstretched toward the ball and just barely getting enough of his finger to the ball to deflect it off its intended path and sent it crashing against the left post and out of play instead.
The Porto fans who were already on their feet to cheer had their hands fly to their heads and faces in disappointnt, but after a second they cheered for their team as if Porto kept this up, then an equalizing goal wasn’t too far off.
Telles imdiately headed towards the left corner flag as he was the one who would take the corner.
It didn’t take long for the Porto and Rio Ave teams to arrange themselves in the Rio Ave penalty box as they were already close by.
Within seconds the referee’s whistle was blown and Telles sent an out-swinging cross into the Rio Ave 18-yard box.
The players squeezed among themselves and tried to reach the ball, both of them with different intentions, and in the end, it was a Rio Ave player who only barely managed to reach the ball first with his head and try to head it out of play, but the ball headed towards the right side of the Rio Ave penalty box due to lack of power on the header.
As soone who didn’t join the scuffle among the players in the Rio Ave 18-yard box, Jason was able to quickly chase after the ball, but as he ran for the ball, he heard a set of footsteps behind him despite the noise in the stadium.
Imdiately realizing that he was being followed, he continued running for the ball, not looking back so the player wouldn’t realize that he was inford about his actions.
The mont Jason reached the ball, he didn’t try to stop it and turn around, but instead got his leg under the ball and flicked the ball upward and backward before turning.
The Rio Ave player who had been chasing after Jason was stunned by this sudden turn of events and tried to stop himself, but he had been fully focused on chasing Jason and couldn’t imdiately stop himself so he slipped and fell to the ground on his back, sliding past Jason as the ball flew over him.
The fans in the stadium imdiately went into a cheer of “oohs”, “aahs”, and “yehs” as they enjoyed the scene that was guaranteed to spread all over social dia in the coming days.
Jason didn’t lose his composure despite the sudden spike in noise from the crowd, but instead beca even more focused as he could feel everyone’s eyes on him.
He deftly tapped the ball that ca back down to his feet, bringing it under control, and pushed it forward a little while looking for the safest pass.
He soon noticed a presence in the white and blue stripes just outside the Rio Ave 18-yard box and Jason didn’t hesitate to send the ball rolling in that direction as he could imdiately recognize that person anywhere.
His favorite training partner and sowhat friend, Fabio Viera ran to et the pass that Jason sent his way and imdiately whacked the ball first ti at the Rio Ave goal.
The ball imdiately took off at high speed and flew at the top right corner of the Rio Ave goal, sohow making it past the crowd of players and slamming into the back of the net, the keeper unable to react as he hadn’t seen the ball coming his way until the last mont.
Fabio Viera imdiately ran at Jason with his hand posted at him and hugged him.
The other mbers of the Porto team soon joined the two of them in celebrations as the Porto fans flew through the roof.
{A stunner! An absolute stunner of a goal!}
{He sent the ball smashing into the top corner from more than 18 yards away and the goalkeeper, completely unsighted by his players wasn’t able to react at all}
{The pass that leads up to the goal is also worth taking not… Oh what’s this here, the referee has blown his whistle and it seems he is suspecting foul play}
The celebrations in the stadium ca to a pause for the second ti that day as the referee blew his whistle while standing over a Rio Ave player who was on the ground clutching his face as if he was in great pain.
