Chapter 629: Purple Trouble I

**25th April 2021**

{The Day is Saturday, the location is Florence, the ti is 5 pm, and the occasion? The 33rd Match day in Serie A} the comntator’s voice bood through the stadium’s speakers.

{It’s Fiorentina up against Uventus!}

{The moods are undoubtedly high in the Uventus camp as earlier today, Inter Milan lost in the Milan derby to AC Milan, giving Uventus the chance to take the lead on the table}

{They’ll have to cash in today against Fiorentina if they want to take the lead and we’ll soon see what the n in purple have to say about that!} The comntator gave the opening remarks as the team’s lineups soon began to show up on the screens of the people watching the match from around the world.

Just like the previous match, Jason was starting on the bench, and this ti he wasn’t the only first-team mber who was on the bench.

Ronaldo, Cuadrado, Chiellini, and De Ligt were among the players starting on the bench due to the match coming up against Madrid in three days.

It would be a severe handicap against a team as strong as Fiorentina, but there wasn’t much the manager could do at this point.

He could only hope that the quality of the other players on the team was enough to help the team coast to victory in this ga, gaining the three points they needed to put a reasonable distance between them and Inter Milan.

Of course getting just one point would achieve the goal of climbing up the table’s ranks to the first position, but that was not a result any Uventus supporter would want.

The players of the two teams were soon arranged across the field and the referee’s whistle went, signaling to kick off the ga and the crowd’s cheers rose in response as the Fiorentina team kicked off the ga.

Fiorentina imdiately launched an attack as soon as the ga began, not holding back even though Uventus would be regarded as the stronger team.

As the perceived stronger team, the Uventus side didn’t back down and rose to the challenge, rushing at the Fiorentina players in a bid to take the ga by the reins, not backing down in the slightest, despite having many of their heavy hitters sitting on the bench.

Fiorentina pushed forward, wanting to take advantage of the weaker line-up than usual to steal themselves a early goal that they could then coast on till a victory, but the Uventus players weren’t so easily pushed around by their opponents, staying strong in the middle and at the back.

#28th minute…

The Fiorentina was once again on the attack.

They had been pushing hard at the Uventus team since kickoff, and they had gradually begun seeing results.

With a sudden burst of pace and skill from a Fiorentina player in the midfield, he quickly dodged Arthur and sent a long pass forward to his team’s danger man, Vlahovic.

Receiving the ball with his back to the goal, Vlahovic perfectly trapped the still moving ball and made a smooth ball with the ball, building montum for a shot as soon as he faced the goal, but before he could get clear on goal, Demiral who had been on the move since the ball ca at Vlahovic, dived in for a tackle to sweep away the ball.

With Vlahovic unaware of Demiral’s movents, the two of them inevitably crashed into each other, both of them falling to the ground.

Demiral imdiately got back up, wanting to clear the ball, but the referee’s whistle, followed by a burst of outraged cries from the Fiorentina fans who were in the majority, let the players know that the contact was not a clean one and the Fiorentina fans quickly began calling for a penalty.

The Fiorentina fans also called for the sa, and despite the Uventus players trying to influence the referee’s decision, the replay of the tackle quickly solidified the referee’s initial decision and a few seconds later, Vlahovic placed the ball on the spot and stepped back, ready to take the penalty.

*Fweeeeeee!*

At the referee’s whistle, Vlahovic ran at the ball and drove it down the middle of the goal to Sczesny’s dismay.

The Uventus goalkeeper had predicted that Vlahovic would shoot the ball to the right and had dived early, trying to get in position on ti to counter the striker’s shot power, but his prediction was wrong and he had instead jumped out of the way of the ball, ubable to do nothing but watch as the bal smashed into the back of the net.

(Down the middle and in! Well taken penalty!}

{Sczesny must wish that he had stayed put!} the comntator shouted as Vlahovic took off down the sidelines to celebrate with his team’s fans.

Jumping into the air and pumping his right fist upward, Vlahovic’s face was a picture of joy as he celebrated with his teammates and the fans.

The Fiorentina fans were especially in a joyous frenzy as they began to rue the thought of ruining Uventus’s day, however, the comntator made sure to remind everyone that it was still quite early in the ga and the tide could turn at any mont, especially with strong opponents like Uventus being up against them.

The Fiorentina players soon began returning to their positions after the celebrations and the ga began again.

#36th minute…

{It’s Uventus on the attack!}

{Ever since going behind, they have fought back with righteous fury, doing all they can to get an equalizer!}

{It’s the first step to a coback that they need, and they’re looking to find I-!}

{A ball in from Danilo to find Chiesa!} the comntator shouted excitedly as Chiesa rose to the air to et the cross from Danilo.

The ball bounced powerfully off his head as he tried to direct the ball at goal, but he soon realized that he had put a bit too much power on the ball while trying to direct the ball at goal and the ball carelessly flew over the bar.

{Oh! He put too much behind that!} the comntator shouted while the Uventus fans groaned in exasperation at the goal-scoring chance being wasted.

{With that much power behind the cross, he should have just tried to get it in the right direction} the co-comntator added as a disappointed Chiesa began to jog out of the penalty box while the goalkeeper retrieved the ball for a goal kick.
