Now reading: Chapter 113: The Worth of a Knight Clan from Grinding EXP From Fireball Skill, a Eastern novel by Questioning HeavenSeeking the Path.

The three were escorted to the military camp by soldiers.

After an investigation, Gu Ze’s and Rota’s identities were quickly confird, and they were released.

Rota angrily said to the military officer, "Is this how you treat Mages?"

The officer explained placatingly, "We deeply apologize for what you two Master Mages have endured, but we had no other choice."

"So Professionals who ca out of the mines earlier attacked our troops, causing heavy casualties among the soldiers."

"We were left with no choice but to screen everyone’s identity."

Li Wei was not released. His identity was questionable.

No one could verify his identity.

In the end, Gu Ze and Rota had to vouch for him before the army agreed to let him go.

Li Wei said, "Thank you both for your help."

Gu Ze smiled and said, "Don’t ntion it. Without you, we wouldn’t have made it out safely either."

He hesitated for a mont, then asked, "But, is your Summoned Beast okay?"

Gu Ze had seen Li Wei co out, but even after all this ti, the Golden Anteater had not followed. He was worried it had died amidst the Iron-Eating Ant Swarm.

After all, it had covered their retreat, so it was only natural to be concerned.

Li Wei replied, "It’s fine. It’s out of danger, just staying underground for now."

"That’s good. We would have felt terrible if you had lost a Tier Two Summoned Beast because of us," Gu Ze said.

Rota said, "Forgive my forwardness, but did you already own that Golden Anteater Summoned Beast, or did you ta it on the spot?"

He was very curious about this.

Li Wei answered, "Tad on the spot. It’s my Extraordinary Trait."

Rota understood upon hearing this. He nodded. "Oh, I see. Thank you."

He didn’t press the matter.

Anything involving one’s Extraordinary Trait was a matter of critical personal privacy.

No one would reveal the full extent of their Extraordinary Trait’s abilities to others.

Unless it was to their nearest and dearest.

The ability systems of most Professionals were built upon their personal Extraordinary Traits.

Knowing soone’s Extraordinary Trait ant you could develop specific counter-tactics against them.

Li Wei asked what had happened at the camp.

Gu Ze gave him a brief summary.

"Right now, the army is trying to find the culprit who killed the soldiers, along with their accomplices."

"It’s very difficult to find the culprit through screening. On the surface, everyone is an official Professional registered with the Professional Association."

"But secretly, so have been enticed by outside forces to stir up internal conflict."

"Who knows who those people really are?"

Gu Ze was pessimistic about the situation.

He wasn’t very good at deduction or solving cris.

Rota said, "If there were a Spiritual Mage here, they could just use a Lie Detection Skill on everyone and easily find the enemy."

"In all of Maple City, I think the Tower Master is the only Spiritual Mage," Gu Ze said uncertainly.

Li Wei looked puzzled and asked, "Are Spiritual Mages that rare?"

Gu Ze glanced at him, assuming that as a Summoner, he wasn’t very familiar with the Mage profession.

Gu Ze explained, "Spiritual Mages are very different from ordinary Mages. The main difference lies in their Extraordinary Trait."

"Only Mages who undergo a Spiritual Awakening have the chance to cultivate Spiritual Magic."

"Most Mages have an Elental Awakening."

"Mages with a Spiritual Awakening are few, and Spiritual Magic is also rare."

"This leads to a situation where Spiritual Mages are exceedingly rare."

"Secondly, Elental Magic is typically more powerful than Spiritual Magic. Even if soone can cultivate Spiritual Magic, they might not choose to beco a Spiritual Mage."

"The Elental System offers a wider range of choices, its Magic Models are easier to obtain, and it’s easier to learn..."

Li Wei understood. ’Choosing to be a Spiritual Mage is a thankless task.’

Rota said, "That’s not entirely true. A High Tier Spirit Mage is far more terrifying than an Elental Mage. Spiritual Magic is also much stealthier; an opponent often won’t even realize they’ve been hit."

Li Wei nodded in agreent.

In terms of stealth, Spiritual Magic was countless tis more potent than even Shadow Magic.

In fact, at that very mont, Gu Ze and Rota were already under the influence of Spiritual Magic, which was why they hadn’t recognized Li Wei.

And neither of them had the slightest inkling.

Li Wei glanced around. The Professionals who had escaped from underground were all being detained in the military camp, temporarily forbidden from leaving.

Soldiers stood guard and patrolled the periter.

As Official Mages of the Mage Tower, however, Gu Ze and Rota were free to enter and exit the camp and could leave at any ti.

They had the Mage Tower to vouch for them. If any problems arose, the Maple City Mage Tower could be held accountable.

CLIP-CLOP-CLIP-CLOP!

Reina rode her warhorse into the military camp, her gaze sweeping over the crowd from beneath her helt.

Her eyes lingered on Li Wei for a mont.

Li Wei’s identity was the most suspicious.

A wandering Summoner from out of town with no identification whatsoever.

Who knew what he was really up to?

SHHH-SHHH-SHHH!

Li Wei heard the familiar sound and quickly craned his neck to look.

"That sounds like the Iron-Eating Ants."

Hearing this, the color drained from Gu Ze’s and Rota’s faces.

"Damn it, don’t tell the Iron-Eating Ants got out?"

"AHHHH!"

Screams of agony erupted from outside the camp.

Reina quickly rode out to assess the situation.

An officer rushed in, shouting, "Everyone, please help us exterminate the Iron-Eating Ants!"

No one moved.

"Heh! You ask for our help when you need us and tell us to scram when you don’t? You think we’re your slaves?"

"If you’re so tough, deal with the Iron-Eating Ants yourselves."

"I sure as hell am not lifting a finger. Soone else can be the hero if they want."

The crowd’s reaction was not what the officer had expected.

His expression turned ugly. He hadn’t thought these Professionals would be so difficult to manage.

They were completely disobedient.

Li Wei, however, was not surprised by this.

The crowd had already suffered a defeat underground, and after finally managing to escape, they were treated like enemies and interrogated.

They were already simring with resentnt.

The officer quickly turned to Brad and said, "Commander Brad, the City Lord hired the Radiant rcenary Corps..."

Brad cut him off. "Sorry, the City Lord hired us to deal with outside attackers. We have no obligation to wipe out Iron-Eating Ants. That’s outside the scope of our mission."

’Are you kidding ? I’m not about to stick my neck out and piss everyone off right now.’

Otherwise, his reputation would be ruined.

Rumors might even start spreading that he was a lapdog for the City Lord’s Mansion.

And he still wanted to make a living in the world of Extraordinary Beings.

Refusing wouldn’t offend the City Lord, either.

At worst, he’d offend the military officer in charge of the mine, and to him, one officer didn’t an a damn thing.

No matter how high-ranking the official, their authority didn’t extend to Extraordinary Beings.

Worst-case scenario, he could just cut the guy down, move to another city, and start fresh.

CLIP-CLOP-CLIP-CLOP!

Reina rode her warhorse back into the camp. "In the na of the Golden Shield Clan," she declared, "I ask for your assistance in exterminating the Iron-Eating Ants."

"Afterward, the Golden Shield Clan will reward you handsoly."

Hearing this, the expressions of the crowd shifted.

"Since the Golden Shield Clan is asking, we should show them so respect. I’m in."

" too."

"Follow ."

Brad stood up and announced, "Radiant rcenary Corps, assemble!"

Reina looked at the crowd and bowed slightly. "Thank you all for your trendous support."

Li Wei looked astonished. ’The na of the Golden Shield Clan is even more effective than the City Lord’s Mansion?’

Gu Ze said, "Yes and no. The Golden Shield Clan is a Knight Clan. They always keep their word."

Li Wei understood.
