A look of delight crossed Li Wei’s face; he finally had a combat training mission.
Sean had announced the combat training mission to all second-year students of the Red Level Class.
After reading the mission details, Li Wei rushed to the Elental Tower.
The Red Level Class students gathered in the plaza outside the Elental Tower and followed Sean to the Secret Realm where the mission was located.
According to the mission’s background description, this Secret Realm wasn’t an independent space.
Rather, it was a section of the Ancient Battlefield that the Elental Tower had cordoned off using special thods.
This area was designated specifically for honing the students’ combat skills.
The monsters inside the Secret Realm weren’t too powerful.
Having been artificially sectioned off, it was perfectly suited for Tiers One to Three Mages to explore.
"Ti to go kill so skeletons!"
When Li Wei arrived at the eting point, everyone was buzzing with excitent.
Many of them preferred the thrill of bombarding enemies with Magic.
They disliked sitting idly in a classroom learning Magic Theory.
Sean walked over, dressed in a purple Mage Robe.
Li Wei turned to look, and the badge on Sean’s chest was engraved with five shining stars.
This ant he was a Tier Five Mage.
Li Wei was sowhat surprised.
’How did a Tier Five Mage end up teaching the Red Level Class?’
Most class instructors were Tier Four Mages.
Only a few classes, such as the Blue Level Class and the Purple Level Class, had Tier Five Mages as their teachers.
A Tier Seven Mage was a Legendary Mage.
In an age where Legends were a rarity, a Tier Five Mage was already considered a top-tier combatant.
And a Tier Six Mage was a truly supre existence.
’It just didn’t seem right for such a powerful Mage to be teaching the worst class.’
Li Wei had no way of knowing the story behind it.
Sean walked over, glanced at the crowd, and said, "We’re not waiting for anyone else. Let’s move out."
The group arrived at the Secret Realm Plaza.
Sean opened a Secret Realm Teleportation Gate in the southwest corner.
He was the first to step through the Teleportation Gate.
None of the others moved. They all turned to look at Li Wei.
Feeling their gazes on him, Li Wei stepped out from the crowd and walked toward the Teleportation Gate.
After everything that had happened, the Red Level Class students had implicitly started to see Li Wei as their leader.
He was expected to lead the way.
After passing through the Secret Realm Teleportation Gate, Li Wei stepped out onto a desolate land.
The soil beneath his feet was black.
Legend said that every inch of soil on the Ancient Battlefield was soaked in blood.
Hundreds of years later, the once-crimson earth had turned black.
You could dig a ter down and still find black soil.
Whether this was rumor or truth, no one could say for sure.
RUSTLE RUSTLE RUSTLE!
Li Wei saw a few piles of dried bones lying on the ground nearby begin to stir and rise.
Eerie blue Soul Flas ignited in the skeletons’ eye sockets as they shambled toward him.
Undead Creatures are naturally hostile toward the living.
Li Wei glanced at them, unconcerned.
’A few Tier Zero Skeleton Monsters are nothing to worry about.’
Soon, the other students began to enter the Secret Realm.
Seeing the Skeleton Monsters approach, one student couldn’t resist stepping forward to show off.
"Wind Blade Technique!"
WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH!
Several Wind Blades shattered the Skeleton Monsters’ bodies.
The student glanced back at Li Wei with a smug expression, as if seeking praise.
Sean, standing to the side, reminded them, "To kill a Skeleton Monster, you must destroy its Soul Fla. Simply destroying its body is aningless."
As soon as he finished speaking, a rustling sound ca from nearby.
The Skeleton Monsters that had just been shattered by the Wind Blades were getting up again.
They were only missing a few bones that the Wind Blades had severed.
At these words, it dawned on the other students.
Li Wei raised his hand and tossed out a small Fireball.
BANG!
The single small Fireball blasted all three Skeleton Monsters to dust, their Soul Flas dissipating in the explosion.
Everyone looked astonished.
Seeing this, Sean chuckled. "Of course, if your Magic is powerful enough, you don’t need to worry about that."
The students were stunned.
’Was Instructor Sean actually praising Li Wei?’
This was the first ti any of them had seen Sean praise soone.
Sean turned to face the vast Secret Realm. "Alright, let the combat training mission begin."
"Stay safe. I’ll be watching from the sidelines, but I can’t guarantee I’ll be able to save you in ti."
"Do not get careless. If you encounter an enemy beyond your abilities, call for reinforcents imdiately."
"While there are no overwhelmingly powerful Skeleton Monsters in this Secret Realm, Tier Four Skeleton Monsters do exist. Do not venture too deep."
Hearing this, Li Wei’s mind turned to the mission objectives.
The first task was to eliminate one hundred Tier Zero Skeleton Monsters.
The aura of the Undead on the Ancient Battlefield was so dense that new Undead Creatures spawned periodically.
The most common of these were Skeleton Monsters.
To prevent the Skeleton Monsters from amassing in numbers large enough to form a Skeleton Sea, the Elental Tower regularly culled the Skeleton Monsters on the Ancient Battlefield to reduce the population of Undead Creatures.
This kept the number of Undead Creatures on the Ancient Battlefield within a relatively safe range.
Completing the first task awarded 1 Credit Point.
The second task was to kill twenty Tier One Skeleton Monsters.
Completion awarded 3 Credit Points.
The third task was to kill Tier Two Skeleton Monsters.
Each kill was worth 0.25 Credit Points.
The fourth task was to kill Tier Three Skeleton Monsters.
Each kill was worth 0.5 Credit Points.
The fifth task was to kill Tier Four Skeleton Monsters.
Each kill was worth 3 Credit Points.
Completing any one of these tasks would count as a pass for this combat training course.
This would earn bonus points for the year-end exam.
The higher the mission completion rate, the higher the bonus.
Compared to taking a theory course and passing an exam for 0.5 or 1 Credit Point, earning them through combat training was much easier for many.
While Li Wei was still pondering, the other students had already sprung into action.
Many chose to form teams, coordinating with each other to complete the mission.
Most of them were aiming for the first two tasks.
Eliminating one hundred Tier Zero Skeleton Monsters and killing twenty Tier One Skeleton Monsters.
Whether they could even find and kill a Tier Two Skeleton Monster would co down to luck.
BANG BANG BANG! WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH! CRACKLE POP! BOOM!
All sorts of Elental Magic flew wildly through the Secret Realm.
The commotion of battle roused the Skeleton Monsters throughout the Secret Realm.
More and more Skeleton Monsters rose and began to close in on the students.
As far as the eye could see, there were at least several thousand of them.
In the distance, even more were approaching.
There was certainly no shortage of Tier Zero and Tier One Skeleton Monsters.
The real concern was that their numbers were too great, and the students would run out of Mana and find themselves in danger.
Swarm tactics had always been the Skeleton Monsters’ classic strategy.
And their most effective one.
Skeleton Monsters were individually weak, but they could overwhelm powerful enemies through sheer numbers.
Even the strongest of enemies would eventually tire.
As Undead Creatures, Skeleton Monsters possessed nearly limitless stamina.
They also had regenerative abilities comparable to an Undying Body.
Without destroying the Soul Fla, a Skeleton Monster could regenerate indefinitely.
While the students nervously braced themselves against the Skeleton Sea, Li Wei walked off alone, deeper into the Secret Realm.
Fire Snake Skill!
A Fire Serpent slithered before him, clearing the way.
It devoured and incinerated the Low Level Skeleton Monsters in his path.
’With enough firepower, there’s no need to precisely target the Soul Fire.’
’The poor aim for precision strikes; the rich opt for total fire coverage.’
