"Alright, everyone go back to sleep. There’s nothing wrong here."

"Li Wei, next ti don’t practice Magic in your room in the middle of the night. If you’re going to practice, at least pick a safer place!"

Allen said to Li Wei, his tone mild.

Li Wei accepted the criticism humbly and nodded. "Understood. I’ll be sure to do that next ti."

After the others left, Gu Ze glanced at Li Wei and said, "Alright, co to my room. You can’t sleep in yours anymore."

Li Wei picked up his quilt, which was still mostly intact, and moved to Gu Ze’s room.

He made a bed on the floor.

Li Wei lay on the floor, staring at the ceiling, and asked, "Teacher Gu Ze, do you know why Casting can earn the acknowledgnt of the Magic Elents?"

Gu Ze turned to glance at Li Wei, then looked away again. "According to the Elental Affinity Theory," he said, "prolonged, close contact with Magic Elents increases one’s Elental Affinity. The process of Casting is, by definition, a process of close contact with Magic Elents."

"But why does prolonged, close contact with Magic Elents increase one’s Elental Affinity?" Li Wei asked again.

Hearing this, Gu Ze closed his eyes, deciding to ignore him.

’How should I know?’

’Coming up with one theory to prove it would only lead to new questions. It’s an endless cycle.’

When Gu Ze didn’t answer, Li Wei spoke up on his own. "Teacher, do you know what I was doing just now?"

Gu Ze listened but didn’t want to talk.

’He just wanted to sleep.’

"I was using my Mana to feed the Fire Elent. It’s like raising a pet—the more you feed it, the closer you beco. It’s the sa with Magic Elents."

As Gu Ze listened, sothing felt off.

’How are Magic Elents and pets related?’

’But he had to admit, it seed to make a little bit of sense.’

Tossing and turning the idea over in his mind, Gu Ze found he couldn’t fall asleep.

’Could you really feed Magic Elents with Mana?’

’The idea seed preposterous.’

Gu Ze couldn’t sleep, his mind stuck on the matter.

’He might as well give it a try.’

’Ice Elent is safer than Fire Elent. At least it won’t explode.’

And then...

BOOM!

The entire room was instantly covered in frost, and Li Wei was left shivering violently.

His teeth chattered. "K-K-K!"

"Teacher Gu Ze, what are you doing?"

CRASH!

The sound of a cup smashing ca from upstairs. "Shit! Are you going to let anyone sleep?!"

SLAM! SLAM!

Li Wei and Gu Ze stood on the street, staring at the closed door of the inn. They looked at each other, both utterly helpless.

"Well, we’ve been kicked out."

The two wandered the empty streets.

"Teacher Gu Ze, what now?"

Gu Ze’s eyes sparkled with excitent. "Li Wei, you’re a genius!"

"Everyone was wrong! Feeding Magic Elents with Mana is the true path to Elental Awakening!"

Li Wei looked at the extrely excited Gu Ze and sighed.

’I should have just waited until tomorrow to tell him.’

’Now we don’t even have a place to sleep.’

CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!

The patrolling soldiers spotted the two wandering the streets. Mistaking them for enemy infiltrators, they quickly surrounded them.

Only after seeing the Mage Robes they wore did the soldiers refrain from arresting them.

Gu Ze cald down as well, realizing how dangerous it was to be wandering the streets in the middle of the night.

He said, "We’ll stay at the army barracks for tonight. We can explain to Mage Allen tomorrow."

"Mm, I guess that’s our only option," Li Wei said helplessly.

’He really didn’t want to sleep on the streets.’

Even though it was a spring night in May, the streets were still cold.

The next day, Mage Allen looked at the two of them, utterly speechless.

"Alright, you can co back. From now on, casting Magic in your rooms is forbidden."

That sa morning, a large wooden sign hung at the inn’s entrance: "NO CASTING!"

For safety’s sake, Allen moved both Li Wei and Gu Ze to corner rooms, hoping to prevent the two "repeat offenders" from accidentally harming anyone else.

Gu Ze ducked into his room and said, "Feed them in moderation. Don’t overfeed them and cause another explosion. If it happens again, we’ll really get kicked out for good."

"Don’t bother for the next few days. I feel like I’m about to have a breakthrough."

With that, he slipped into his room.

CRACKLE! CRACKLE!

He imdiately cast an Ice Freeze Spell, freezing his door shut and leaving a "Do Not Disturb" sign outside.

Li Wei also returned to his new room.

He wasn’t on duty today, so he spent his ti in the room ditating and practicing his Cultivation, casting Magic, feeding the Fire Elent, and working out.

Two days passed without any further explosions, and everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

On their fourth day in Cold Sand City, the long period of peace was broken as the city faced its first attack from the Beastman Army.

It was a probing attack; the Beastn were testing the strength of Cold Sand City’s garrison.

The defenders quickly repelled them.

When Li Wei heard the news, he was a little disappointed. He had missed a good opportunity to rack up so Contribution.

Three Fire Elent Mage squads, two Wind Elent Mage squads, and one Ice Elent Mage squad.

They rotated guard duty. Li Wei had been on duty the first day, so his second shift on the walls wouldn’t be until the seventh day.

He could volunteer to help on the walls in the anti.

But he was required to take one shift every six days.

Starting on the fifth day, the Beastman Race’s army began launching small-scale raids against Cold Sand City.

They didn’t assault the city itself, but any mber of the Human Race who left its walls was liable to be ambushed.

If they encountered troops from the Human Race, they would imdiately flee.

Under Orn’s command, Cold Sand City began restricting movent, reducing the number of people leaving the city.

But no matter how tight the restrictions, so people still had to leave.

The logistics unit, led by Reina, had to periodically transport supplies to the frontline troops. They also needed to leave Cold Sand City to gather war materials from other cities.

The security of the logistics unit beca a major problem.

To guarantee the security of the logistics unit, Orn assigned a full squad of Extraordinary Professionals for Reina to command.

A five-person unit: a Warrior, a Knight, a Shooter, an Assassin, and a Mage.

"Teacher Gu Ze, you’re going out?" Li Wei looked at him in surprise.

Gu Ze said, "I have no choice. Right now, I’m the only available Tier One Mage."

"Mage Allen arranged for to follow the logistics unit and escort the supplies."

"After I’m gone, you watch out for yourself. Don’t do anything reckless."

Li Wei nodded. "Mm, you too, Teacher. Be careful."

Gu Ze laughed, "Don’t worry. I’m already an Official Mage. My combat power has soared. Even if I run into a Tier Two Professional, I can still put up a fight."

A day earlier, Gu Ze had erged from his seclusion, having awakened the Extraordinary Trait: Ice Affinity!

The power of his Ice Magic had increased dramatically.

Li Wei stood on the city wall, watching Gu Ze leave Cold Sand City.

’It’s coming soon!’

Li Wei gazed at the distant sky, his thoughts drifting.

On the seventh day, it was Li Wei’s turn for guard duty.

He went up to the city wall, found a corner in the watchtower to sit in, and quietly waited for the day to pass.

Fesia, Jonah, and Delis were sitting together, chatting happily.

Over the past few days, the three had gotten to know each other well.

Unlike Li Wei, who spent all day cooped up in his room cultivating.

"Huh? What are you doing?"

Rota asked curiously, looking at the small fireball in Li Wei’s hand.

Ever since Rota had sat down in the watchtower, he had seen Li Wei holding a small fireball, and he had no idea what he was up to.

Li Wei said, "Training my Magic Control Power."

Hearing this, Rota shook his head and paid no more attention.

’Everyone has their own way of cultivating; he wasn’t one to judge.’

In reality, Li Wei was feeding the Fire Elent.

Now that he knew the truth of Elental Awakening, there was no difference between using the Tier One Fireball Skill and the Tier Zero Small Fireball Technique.

It was just a matter of feeding speed.

This was active feeding. For passive feeding, one would have to use Tier One Magic.

Tier Zero Magic gathered too little of the Fire Elent. In the brief mont between casting and release, the Fire Elent couldn’t absorb much Mana at all.

As noon approached, Li Wei felt a jolt in his spirit. The world around him seed to change.

He felt an unseen connection as the Fire Elent he had fed for so long finally rged with his being.
