Guide Me If You Dare Chapter 52: ALL TOO WELL

"I’M GOING to sue those bastards and make sure they’ll rot in jail."

As soon as Yuno said that, the faces of the agents who heard his declaration changed from carefree to stressed out.

Like I said earlier, if I was a normal Guide, they would have just told to get over it.

"Sir, I understand where you’re coming from," the old gentleman— the agent in charge of Yuno’s case— said in a patient voice. It was obvious that the old man was just being wary of Ki Gayoon, though. "But the Espers that you brought to us are Espers from the U.S. They are even officially welcod by the governnt because they are here to accompany our rookie Espers to enter their first dungeons."

Oh, right.

I rember the President started that project where he would invite Espers from other countries to train with our local Espers.

However...

"So what? It doesn’t give those Espers the right to sexually assault our country’s Guides, does it?" Yuno asked coldly. "Did President Cheol Kang say the guest Espers are allowed to do whatever they want while they’re in Korea?"

Of course, that got the senior agent flustered. "Guide Noh-ssi, you’re being too much. We have to think about our international relationships with other countries—"

The senior agent wasn’t able to finish his sentence because the room suddenly shook.

No, it wasn’t an earthquake.

"I tried to keep my mouth shut because my Guide is rciful enough to worry about selfish bastards like you," Ki Gayoon said in a quiet but angry tone while holding Yuno on the shoulders so Yuno wouldn’t stumble. He wasn’t yelling, but the way he spoke so coldly was more intimidating than hearing soone raise their voice. "But I can’t listen to this shit anymore."

All the agents at the Awakened Police Departnt were Civilians trained to handle Dungeon Breaks. Hence, it was surprising that the agents remained calm even though the entire station was being shaken hard.

Things were falling everywhere, but instead of hitting the floor, the objects just remained afloat.

Hyung’s telekinesis power is really impressive.

"Esper Ki Gayoon-nim, please calm down!"

"The hell I would," Ki Gayoon said. "Where’s your boss?"

The senior agent flinched. "O-Our Commander is currently having a breakfast eting with the Seoul Mayor, so—"

"Tell your damned Commander to co here in fifteen minutes before I bury this station to the ground!"

Aigoo.

"E-Esper Ki Gayoon-nim, it’s physically impossible for our Commander to get here in fifteen minutes since the mayor’s office is about twenty minutes, without traffic, by car!"

Yuno squeezed Ki Gayoon’s arm before his Esper lashed out again. "Twenty-five minutes then," he said firmly. "If the Commander is even a minute late, I’m sorry but I’ll let my Esper bury this station to the ground."

Heh.

Look at abusing Gayoon Hyung’s authority.

"You heard my Guide," Ki Gayoon said smugly. "Tell your Commander he has twenty-five minutes if he wants to save your departnt."

NEVER IN a million years would Yuno imagine he’d be having expensive tea in the office of the Awakened Police Departnt’s Commander.

But here we are now.

The most senior agent in the station ushered them to the office (under the Commander’s order after the most senior agent had a phone conversation with the Commander) and served them tea before leaving.

So, now, only Yuno and Ki Gayoon were there.

"Is this how Guides are normally treated by the authority when they report an Esper who sexually assaulted them?"

Yuno didn’t expect Ki Gayoon to ask that.

But I appreciate that Hyung sounds careful when he did.

"Normal Guides, especially the low-ranking ones, often get dismissed when they report an Esper. The law often sides with the Espers, after all," Yuno said indifferently. "Most Espers who commit rape love using the excuse that they needed Guiding to justify their cris. Since Espers are the only ones who can enter dungeons and kill monsters, the governnt only gives them light punishnts. The governnt argues that they can’t put Espers behind bars for too long because Dungeon Breaks may happen at any ti. They are like that even to low-ranking Espers. So, imagine how the governnt protects the high-ranking ones."

Cris committed by A-Class and S-Class Espers don’t even make it to the news because the governnt keeps them under the rug right away.

"Has this happened to you before?"

"Sajangnim helped conceal my aura as a Guide, so Espers never really realized I was a Guide. Hence, my life has been peaceful since then," Yuno said. "But I did help several Guides that I saw being harassed by Espers. Sadly, in the end, those poor Guides were discouraged from pushing through their complaints because of the lack of support they received. In fact, Guides were often gaslighted into thinking they were just overreacting. Most Civilians also side with Espers because Civilians are afraid there won’t be enough Espers to save their sorry asses when a Dungeon Break happens if Espers go to jail. In short, Guides are treated like second-class citizens in this country."

"I’m sorry to hear that."

Yuno didn’t expect to hear that much sincerity from Ki Gayoon. "Why are you apologizing, Hyung?"

"I don’t know."

Pfft.

"If you feel guilty for being born a natural S-Class Esper, don’t be— I’m going to use you and abuse your authority, Hyung," Yuno said firmly. "I hate to admit this because I don’t want to depend on Hyung solely, but Guides are only safe from predatory Espers if their partner is a high-ranking Esper. Now that Hyung is officially a part of the Top 5 again, I plan to exploit you and the power you hold."

Ki Gayoon raised an eyebrow. "How do you plan to use ? That sounds suggestive."

"Hyung, is your head only filled with lewd thoughts?"

"Yes, it is."

Aigoo.

"You turned into a pervert," Ki Gayoon claid shalessly. "So, you have to take responsibility, Noh Yuno."

Yuno rolled his eyes. "Then do a good job threatening this departnt to do my bidding."
