"You an to say that we cannot drink water from the river?" Ruan Chanchan turned to look at the r with a hint of surprise in her eyes. She always thought that the orcs drank water from the river that flowed through the territory. She never thought that the orcs of the tribe did not use the river for drinking.
"It’s not like we don’t use it, but we hardly use it," corrected Su Mo as he collected the dried bamboo shoots from the flat slab. He raised his head and looked at Ruan Chanchan before saying to her in a low voice, "The river is shared between the two tribes. Currently, the water level of all the rivers is the sa, which is why the people from the other tribes don’t usually co here, but during sumr, the water level of the rivers would go down, and only this river would maintain a proper water level."
"Thus, most of the tribes would co to this river and stake their claim over it."
Ruan Chanchan thought about the good things that she had heard about their tribe and pursed her lips before saying, "Our tribe is not strong enough to take them down?"
"Well, yeah." Su Mo’s lips twitched in response. He didn’t want to say those words, as they sounded harsh, but Ruan Chanchan truly had no filter when it ca to certain things. Either she was too cold-hearted, or she didn’t think before she spoke, and knowing Ruan Chanchan, he had a feeling that the possibility of it being the latter was way too high.
He placed the dried mushrooms that he had collected in the wicker basket before continuing, "So we fetch the water from the small lake in the mountains next to the grove near the volcano. But there are many ferocious beasts there, so only the totem warriors dare to approach that place." Su Mo straightened up and then pointed his finger at the mountain that was like ten or fifteen kilotres away from the volcano. He explained in a deep voice, "We usually bring water from there in sumr. Just wait; once the spring is over, the weather will start heating up, and the water in the other rivers will start drying up. You will then see what it ans to suffer hell on earth."
Su Mo still rembered the fierce battles that took place at the shore of the river last sumr. Even now, he felt his heart shudder when he recalled how many totem warriors died while they were trying to snatch the right to take the authority of the river the last ti.
"You an the totem warriors bring water all the way here from the mountains?" Ruan Chanchan was shocked. She never thought that the totem warriors had more than just hunting as their jobs. "How do they bring so much water?"
"What do you an by ’so much water?" This ti around, it was Su Mo’s turn to turn confused. He turned to look at the woman beside him and asked in a soft voice, "They only bring water for us to drink. It’s not much."
Just for drinking?
"Then what about bathing?"
Ruan Chanchan asked with a little shriek that made not only Su Mo but even Xie Daiyu stop and turn to look at her. The two rs looked at her as if she had gone hysterical. And maybe she had. Because from what Su Mo told her—
"You guys don’t bathe for the entire sumr?" Ruan Chanchan whispered so softly that if not for the fact that two rs next to her were beast r, no one would have been able to hear her.
They watched as Ruan Chanchan raised her head and looked at the two of them, her eyes literally scanning them from head to toe before she inconspicuously stepped back.
Su Mo and Xie Daiyu: "..." Huh?
The two rs looked at the woman who had distanced herself from them, and suddenly they understood what she was trying to do, and their expressions changed.
They realised that the woman was actually disdainful of them.
Su Mo was so angry that he wanted to bite the woman, and Xie Daiyu simply snorted to express his displeasure. Sure, they did not bathe when it was sumr, but it didn’t an that they were not bathing just now. Why was she treating them as they were untouchables when they bathed today?
Ruan Chanchan also realised that she was a bit too instinctive. She brought her fist in front of her mouth and cleared her throat before saying to the two rs, "Ahem, can you bring to this small lake? Maybe I can co up with a much better option."
"No!"
"NO!"
Ruan Chanchan stepped even further when she heard the two rs yell at her. She blinked her eyes, not realising why the two rs were suddenly losing their temper at her.
Seeing the confused and hurt expression on her face, Xie Daiyu pinched the space between his brows. He said to her, "It’s not that we are stopping you... It’s just I think that it is too dangerous for soone like you to head up the mountains on your own."
This again...
Ruan Chanchan was quite touched when it happened the first ti. But now she was getting simply tired of being treated like she was made from porcelain. "Co on, I will be fine."
She tried to fight and stand her ground, but the way the two rs looked at her made her give up. The two of them were, after all, looking at her as if she were going to die if she were to so much as take a step inside the forest. The two rs’s reactions made her roll her eyes, and in the en,d she simply gave up because she knew that there was no point in fighting against the two of them.
But at the sa ti, her resentnt grew.
What kind of confinent was this? Are they afraid that she couldn’t even wander on her own?
"Brother Daiyu, co quickly your mother was attacked!"
