Arthur looked at Eve's face and managed to pull out a difficult smile, standing firm between the radiance and her.
"You... you..."
For the first ti, Eve felt at a loss. She tried to pull Arthur away, but her hand froze in place as if it had lost all its strength.
Only at such close range did Eve notice the wounds on Arthur's body, wounds that could easily take a person's life. She truly felt she was about to lose soone dear, but at this mont, she couldn't do anything.
"Don't worry..."
Arthur said finally, then he gripped the broken sword that cut into flesh tightly, turning to swing a heavy fist towards the radiance.
As a father, Arthur always felt incompetent. Eve once had brothers, but they died one after the other. To Eve, Arthur poured all his love, but due to dealings with demons, he always wanted to send Eve away.
Like Lorenzo's constant worries, people connected with demons easily drag those around them into the whirlpool. Arthur knew such people wouldn't et a good end, and he didn't want Eve to be like that. Rationality and emotions tangled, tornting him for a long ti.
But tonight, he seed finally not needing to hide anymore. He was the Duke of Phoenix, a descendant of the War Clan. The war in the light had ended, but the one in the shadows had just begun.
Dean Lawrence was pushed back once more, his chest throbbing slightly, for the first ti struck by a mortal.
No anger, instead he was rather curious, as he watched the man before him who seized that gap, that crucial gap.
Shangdafeng's foresight of the future wasn't long, at most only a dozen seconds, yet Arthur appeared after those dozen seconds. Just as action was about to comnce, the foresight's segnt abruptly halted.
"You learned well! Child!"
At this mont, Dean Lawrence laughed heartily, turning his head, and at this mont, the flaming great sword swept by.
Lorenzo hid his true intent, even as he swung that sword, Dean Lawrence hadn't anticipated Lorenzo's plan would be buried so deeply.
The Demon Hunter ultimately retained a bit of rationality, in that difficult choice, leaving Eve her only ray of survival, that path of survival hidden within his and Arthur's conversation.
He highlighted Dean Lawrence's authority, while Arthur in that brief contemplation found that fatal flaw.
When authority is activated, there should be a startup ti, and between the end of foresight and activation again, there was that cooldown ti, an unobservable void to Dean Lawrence.
The wounded tiger hid itself within the future's gap, uncertain when this power would trigger, but he still betted correctly, and thus achieved it.
Within that majestic body, as if sothing was rising, a long-silent snow mountain began to agitate, ice lting into a torrent, followed by a blazing bloom.
That was completely not a power any ordinary person could possess.
Demon Hunter?
But different, Dean Lawrence sensed no erosion upon his body, but he still saw it. From Arthur's exposed skin, lines of faint light erged, engraved with alchemy inscriptions, bearing imnse pain, his face twisted.
He showed a cruel smile to Dean Lawrence, while the burning cavalry stood with its great sword on his other side, shielding the girls behind.
Now Eve was safe, and he had no more weaknesses, the last shackle binding the demon shattered.
"What exactly are you?"
Confusedly he asked, clutching the bloodstained broken sword.
Then Arthur grinned ferociously, replying in a booming voice.
"Have you heard of Captain Ingwig?"
