"That’s Magnus?" Glen stiffened instantly, raising the handgun Magnus had given him, aiming straight at his head. The others tensed up as well.

The warehouse light was dim, and Magnus couldn’t clearly make out who was approaching - but that female voice took a few bold steps forward. "Heh... Magnus, never thought the day would co when you’d co begging us, did you?"

The voice was familiar. Seeing the motorcycle helt on the woman’s head, Magnus quickly understood - she had to be one of the won he’d expelled from the shelter back then.

She pulled off the helt with a sneer. "What’s the matter? Forgot us already? Seems like betraying people cos easy to you."

"You’re the group I exiled from the shelter," Magnus replied calmly, eyes steady on her.

"Oh? So you do rember." Annette Hayes smirked and circled Magnus with a teasing tone. "What’s this? Our grand leader himself has a favor to beg? Looking for so sisterly help, are we?"

Magnus took a slow breath, forcing himself to stay calm. "We’re here for steel. I offered three handguns and thirty magazines. If you cooperate, I can raise it to ten guns. A hundred magazines."

He tightened his voice. "This is my final offer."

From the other side, Glen quickly responded, "Deal!" He had caught the edge in Magnus’s tone - and he knew the Ice Regint wasn’t sothing to ss with.

"Glen!" Annette’s face twisted suddenly, snapping at him. "Didn’t you always say you wanted to sleep with ? Well then, prove it - kill him! And all of you - " She turned to the rest, voice rising, "Haven’t you all been drooling after my sisters? Here’s your chance! Thirty-five of you on one guy - take him down and we’ll serve you every night till daylight!"

"Annette..." Glen stepped up uncertainly, lowering his voice. "You said it yourself - he’s not alone. You think they’re gonna just sit and watch while we kill him? They’re ard. Auto rifles. Even if we get him, what’s the point? We’ve got bare hands. We’d be dead in minutes."

"You don’t get it!" Annette shoved him aside. "I ca from the Ice Regint - I know how they work. If we capture him, those won outside will surrender. Their lives? He saved them all. They won’t risk him dying."

"Now move!" She waved at the group of n. "Don’t let him escape! Get him and you get everything - food, won, cars, at - whatever you want!"

Her words got to them. The n stirred, hungry eyes lit with desperation, lust, and madness. Even Glen hesitated, then clenched his jaw.

"Move, damn it! Don’t just stand there like idiots! You wanna rot in here forever? You want out? Then grab him! This is your last shot!"

With a final scream, Annette snapped them into motion.

Thirty-five n, eyes red, charged at Magnus with wild roars.

And all that ti, Magnus had just been standing there, watching. If he wanted to leave, with four tis normal speed, not a single one of them could touch him.

But he stayed - to see what they’d choose.

Turns out, just as he expected. Four tis the speed. Four tis the strength. Combined with the tal Crystal’s armor and nine months of past combat experience - Magnus didn’t just think he could handle thirty n, he believed even three hundred wouldn’t faze him.

Glen led the charge, holding a waterlon knife instead of a gun - maybe hoping to keep Magnus alive as leverage. But his swing at Magnus’ shoulder was laughably slow.

Magnus sidestepped and drove a kick straight into Glen’s chest. Then with a swift hook of his leg, he knocked the knife into the air. Landing on one foot, he launched a flying left kick, slamming Glen into four or five n behind him.

The blade fell - and Magnus snatched it mid-air without breaking stride. A sideways slash spilled open three chests in a blink. Blood sprayed across his face and body, but his arms never slowed.

He plunged into the crowd swinging wildly. Steel rebar clanged against his body, bouncing off the tal-infused armor. His waterlon knife didn’t stop - every slash took a life.

Thirty-five n. Thirty-five lives. All gone in forty-two seconds.

At the forty-third second, Magnus stood alone, surrounded by carnage. Not one left breathing. Blood poured from wounds, flooding the floor.

The cast-out female mbers of the Ice Regint scread in horror, trying to bolt from the warehouse. Sophia and her unit had already blocked every exit.

Magnus had killed.

If he said he hadn’t ant to, no one would believe him. He could’ve stopped after ten - scared the rest into surrender. But he didn’t.

He didn’t hold back.

And deep down, he knew the truth. He didn’t want to kill them all... but in the heat of it, he lost control. The frenzy took over. Like a brawl that spirals out of hand - once blood rushes hot, there’s no pulling back.

In peaceful tis, law keeps people in check. But here? In this broken world, law’s just a bad joke. Kill soone, and you don’t face judgnt - you save yourself the trouble.

Magnus had lived through two lifetis, killed more people than he could count. Still, his hand trembled. The knife clattered to the floor. He slumped against a pile of steel, fumbling out a cigarette with shaking fingers, lit up and took a deep drag.

He wasn’t so storybook hero.

He was just a man.

Even butchering a pig can shake soone - its final screams, the feel of blade cutting flesh, the gush of warm blood. Unless you’ve lived it, you can’t imagine.

And Magnus hadn’t just butchered at - he’d slaughtered n.

In less than five minutes, Sophia dragged a dozen fleeing won back in. Fifty more female soldiers stood frozen, many throwing up at the sight.

Sophia walked up to Magnus, face grim, and patted his shoulder. "You okay?"

"They... they tried to kill ," Magnus said, eyes still locked on the ss.

"I know. You don’t have to explain."

She gave his shoulder another pat and forced a smile. "Forget it. Don’t let it eat you up."

Then the smile faded. Her tone turned distant, heavy.

"This is just how it is now... Isn’t it?"
