One strand, silver-blue like winter moonlight, curved down and touched the mirror before Xueya. Another, warm and gold like a sumr sunrise, touched the mirror before Su Lan. And a third, a braid of both colors, descended toward the mirror before Lin Tian.

The spearman’s triumphant expression shattered. "No! It’s mine! It responds to power!" He roared, and before anyone could react, he moved.

He abandoned his circle, breaking the trial’s formation. He charged, not at the Avatar, but straight for the Core Fragnt itself, his spear drawn back for a mighty, stealing thrust. "If it won’t choose, I’ll take it!"

The Avatar moved faster than sight.

It was simply in front of him, its own spear of light flashing upward in a perfect, effortless parry. The clash made no sound, but a wave of force rippled out, making the platform tremble.

"The trial is not a suggestion," the ancient voice said. The Avatar’s form seed to grow more solid, more real. "You have been asured. You have been found singular. The Fragnt denies you."

"I deny your denial!" the spearman scread, channeling all his remaining qi into his weapon. The black iron glowed white-hot. "SUNFALL THRUST!"

He unleashed his ultimate technique, the spear point becoming a miniature sun, screaming toward the Avatar’s chest.

The Avatar did not dodge. It lifted its free hand, palm open.

The miniature sun, the devastating spear thrust, the spearman’s entire furious charge—all of it hit that open palm and stopped. Dead. The light winked out. The spear tip bent with a sickening crunch.

The Avatar closed its glowing fingers around the spear’s shaft.

There was a sound like a mountain cracking. The legendary black-iron spear, the symbol of the Crimson Sun’s strongest disciple, shattered into a dozen pieces of dull, broken tal.

The spearman stared at his empty hands, disbelief wiping all thought from his face.

The Avatar’s hand shot out, fingers pressing against the man’s chest.

There was no blast, no dramatic explosion. The spearman just... folded. He dropped to his knees, all the strength gone from his body, his fanatic eyes rolling back in his head. He slumped over, unconscious, lying in a heap beside the ruins of his weapon.

"A singular will is a brittle will," the voice stated, as the Avatar returned to its position before the Fragnt, immobile once more. "It breaks before it bends. It is not compatible with the Harmony the Progenitor sought."

The chamber was silent again, save for the soft hum of the Fragnt. The golden threads still connected it to the three mirrors.

The Avatar turned its headless gaze toward Lin Tian, Xueya, and Su Lan.

"The resonance is acknowledged. The bond is verified. Multifaceted. Stable. You may approach the Core Fragnt."

"The final assimilation," it said, "begins now."

The Avatar’s words hung in the air for a single, breathless heartbeat.

Then the world tore itself apart.

The smooth floor of the platform cracked with a sound like a glacier splitting. A line of blinding white fire erupted from the fissure, shooting toward the ceiling. At the sa mont, a wave of cold so deep it stole the breath from Lin Tian’s lungs washed out from the walls, frosting the stone in an instant.

The chamber was divided. To his left, the air shimred with impossible heat, the light warping like a desert mirage. To his right, a silent, killing frost turned the very air brittle. Lin Tian stood at the seam, the balanced point where the two extres t. He could feel the skin on his left side prickling with heat, while the right side of his face went numb.

It’s testing the foundation, he realized. The Chaos-Harmony Vessel.

"A crucible of extres," the Avatar’s voice echoed, not from its form, but from the room itself. "To claim the legacy, you must not rely endure. You must beco the conduit. You must be the equilibrium."

From the corner of his eye, Lin Tian saw movent. The Crimson Sun spearman, forgotten on the floor, stirred. His eyes, glazed with pain and humiliation, fixed on the glowing Core Fragnt. Raw, desperate greed twisted his features.

"My legacy..." the man croaked. He pushed himself up on his one good arm, the other still limp from the Avatar’s earlier rebuke. "Mine!"

He ignored the trial, ignored the Avatar. With a ragged shout, he gathered the dregs of his fire qi and launched himself from the edge of the solar flare zone, a living cot aid directly at the floating Fragnt.

The Avatar did not move to intercept him. It simply raised a hand, palm facing the charging disciple.

A thread of concentrated sunlight, purer and hotter than anything the spearman had ever conjured, lanced from the Avatar’s palm. It wasn’t an attack. It was a statent.

The beam touched the man’s outstretched arm.

There was no explosion. The flesh and bone didn’t burn, they vaporized. One mont he had an arm reaching for glory, the next, there was only a blackened, smoking stump ending just below the shoulder. The sll of seared at and ozone filled the hot side of the chamber.

The spearman scread, a high, thin sound of utter agony. He crashed to the floor at the base of the Fragnt’s pedestal, writhing, his remaining hand clutching the cauterized ruin of his shoulder. The Solar Flare energy around him seed to pulse, drinking in his pain and panic.

"Power without understanding is a torch that burns the hand that holds it," the Avatar intoned, lowering its hand. "The path is harmony. Not theft."

Lin Tian tore his eyes from the grueso sight. His heart hamred against his ribs, but his mind was clear, cold. A lesson. A warning.

A blue screen materialized in his vision, stark and urgent.

[SYSTEM MISSION UPDATE: FINAL ASSIMILATION TRIAL]

Objective: Demonstrate Perfect Equilibrium.

chanic: The Guardian Avatar will attack with pure, amplified Yin (Absolute Zero) and Yang (Solar Flare) energies. You cannot block. You cannot redirect. You must absorb the attacks into your Chaos-Harmony Vessel.

Sub-Objective: Use the Harem Link. Channel the absorbed Yin energy to Linked Partner [Bai Xueya] for stabilization. Channel the absorbed Yang energy to Linked Partner [Su Lan] for stabilization.

Failure Condition: Vessel rupture, spiritual collapse, or partner rejection.

Reward: Progenitor Core Fragnt.

Note: This trial requires absolute synchronization and trust. Any hesitation will be fatal.

Lin Tian’s mouth went dry. Absorb the Avatar’s attacks directly? The thing that just disintegrated a man’s arm with a casual flick of energy?

He looked across the divided room. Xueya stood in the zone of Absolute Zero, her figure outlined in frost, her silver hair stirring in an unfelt glacial wind. Her eyes t his, wide but unafraid. She gave a single, sharp nod.

On the other side, Su Lan was a silhouette in the hellish glare, golden light playing over her determined face. She clenched her fists, and Lin Tian felt a pulse of ready, resilient heat through their bond.

They were waiting. They were trusting him.

The Avatar shifted its stance, bringing its spear of light to bear. It pointed the tip not at Lin Tian, but at the space between him and his partners.

"The Crucible begins," the voice said.

The air in the chamber seed to inhale. The cold on the right beca a tangible, sucking void. The heat on the left solidified into a crushing, radiant weight.

The Avatar thrust its spear.

Two beams erupted from its tip, not of light, but of pure concept. One was the absence of all heat, a river of silent, dark blue cold that flowed toward Lin Tian’s right side. The other was the essence of stellar fury, a roaring lance of white-gold fire aid at his left.

They hit him at the sa instant.

The world vanished into sensation.

His right side didn’t feel cold. It felt like nothing. Like his very existence was being unmade, cell by cell, erased into a perfect, frozen zero. His ridians scread as the invasive Yin poured in, threatening to flash-freeze his spiritual pathways solid.

His left side was annihilation. It was being thrown into the heart of a sun. His skin should have charred, his blood should have boiled. The Yang energy flooded him, a wildfire seeking to burn out his core from the inside out.

Absorb. Don’t resist.

He gritted his teeth so hard he thought they would crack. He opened the gates of his Chaos-Harmony Vessel wide, a yawning chasm at his center. He let the torrents in.

It was agony. It was like swallowing two opposing earthquakes. The energies raged inside him, clashing, trying to tear him apart at the atomic level. His vessel groaned under the strain, the delicate balance he’d forged threatening to shatter.

Now. Loop it.

With a thought that felt like lifting a mountain, he seized the raging river of Absolute Zero Yin. He didn’t try to control it, he just... offered it. He sent it rushing down the silver-blue thread of his bond, a desperate gift, a plea.

Xueya. Take it. Please.
