Chapter 171 – Greed and Lust

The kiss deepened, ssy and unfair and absolutely earned.

He moved them backward, lips never leaving hers, until her knees hit the edge of the bed. She gasped as she dropped onto it, pulling him with her, and for a mont they just... existed.

Mouths hungry. Hands exploring. Breaths tangled.

But just before it spiraled into sothing more—sothing louder, riskier—Naomi gasped and turned her face away.

"Wait—" she breathed, fingers gripping the fabric of his coat. Her heart thudded like it wanted to say sothing her mouth hadn’t figured out yet.

Lux pulled back slightly. His body was still warm against hers, his breath ghosting along her cheek. He didn’t look irritated. He looked... curious. Controlled. Like a predator indulging a pause because the hunt was more interesting when it wasn’t easy.

She stared up at him, flushed and flustered. "Did you co here for sex?"

Lux blinked.

Then, slow as sin, his mouth curved into sothing dark and dangerously amused.

"Do you think I’m that low?" he asked, his voice a shade deeper than before. "Or do you think what’s in my head is only sex?"

Naomi gave him a look. A look. One part exasperation, one part wicked teasing.

"And money," she said, her lips twitching into a small smirk. "Let’s not pretend. You’re Greed and Lust. You’re basically a walking impulse purchase."

Lux laughed. Quiet, sharp, appreciative. "Hmm... You’re not wrong."

His fingers traced lightly along her wrist. Innocent in theory. Not innocent in effect.

"But no," he murmured. "Sex isn’t on my mind right now."

A blatant lie. And they both knew it.

Because his touch said otherwise.

Because the way he hovered over her like he wanted to devour sothing slow and personal and hers said otherwise.

Naomi narrowed her eyes. "You sure about that?"

Lux leaned down, lips grazing her temple. "Completely."

His hands, however, moved with too much familiarity. Too much focus. The way he touched her waist—like he was reacquainting himself with a favorite possession, not reassuring her—told another story.

"I ca because I knew you missed ," he whispered. "That’s why I’m here."

Her lips parted, heartbeat ticking faster. "You can... feel that?"

He chuckled. Smug bastard.

"Well," he admitted with a shrug, "not really."

She stared at him.

He just grinned and tilted his head. "I missed you. That’s why I ca. I said it, didn’t I? That three days apart was already too long. I hated it."

Naomi bit her lip, suddenly unsure of what to do with her emotions. She wasn’t used to this version of him—open. Needy. Or maybe just honest in the most Lux way possible.

"I don’t like being away," he said, more softly now. "Not from you. Not when I could be here."

She studied him. The edge of his collar was askew from where she’d tugged it earlier. His hair was slightly ruffled from her fingers. He looked less like a prince of hell and more like... hers.

"...You really didn’t have to co all this way," she said.

Lux smirked. "I did. Or maybe..." His voice lowered again. "Maybe I just thought I could help."

Naomi blinked. "Help?"

He leaned forward, forehead brushing hers.

"I’ve been thinking," he murmured. "About your little family chaos. Your obligations."

"Lux..."

He gave her a grin that was both seductive and sinister.

"I could handle it for you. Believe —it’d be quick. Clean. Efficient. Very little paperwork. Maybe a few arrests. Maybe just a subtle stock crash."

Her breath caught. "You’re not serious."

"I’m always serious."

She locked her gaze to his. "No."

Lux paused. "...No?"

"I know your thods," she said, voice calm but firm. "They’re not exactly subtle."

"Hey," he raised a brow. "I’m the embodint of luxury. I can absolutely do subtle."

"You bankrupted Carson," she reminded him.

He raised one brow. "He spilled my coffee."

Naomi gave him a pointed look.

"On purpose," Lux added like that sohow justified obliterating soone’s entire financial existence. "And it was a very good roast, too."

"You almost bankrupted my dad."

Lux winced. "Okay... that one was more of a soft threat. And in my defense—he interrupted us. I held myself back, didn’t I?"

"You didn’t," Naomi said. "I held you back."

Lux grinned, looking like he was rembering it fondly. "Sa thing."

"I can handle this," she said quietly.

Lux exhaled through his nose. Then nodded once. "Fine."

But his eyes sparkled with sothing untad.

"...But," he added.

Naomi narrowed her eyes. "But?"

He slid his hand back along her arm, brushing his knuckles along her ribs. "Since I’m already here... and made quite the journey, might I add... maybe you could reward . Just a little."

She gave him a dry look. "I already kissed you, didn’t I?"

His laugh was dark. Low. Almost intimate.

"I’m half incubus, Naomi," he said, voice dipping into sothing that sent a shiver down her spine. "And you expect to be satisfied with a little kiss?"

She swallowed. The air between them shifted again—warr now. Thicker.

"I could make you forget the word stress," he whispered.

Her heart thumped violently. "I have etings tomorrow."

"I’ll make you forget about those, too."

"Lux."

He leaned in again, slow and deliberate, brushing his lips along the edge of her jaw. "Say no," he challenged her softly. "Right now. And I’ll stop."

Naomi didn’t say anything.

Because she couldn’t.

Because her body already said yes.

But her pride...

She turned her face toward him—cheeks red, voice trembling with restraint.

"You are impossible," she whispered.

Lux gave a dark chuckle. "But irresistible."

She slapped his chest lightly. "You’re—"

He kissed her again.

And this ti, she didn’t turn away.

This ti, she let herself fall. Just a little.

Her hands slid around his neck, and her mind scread that this was bad timing, bad decisions, bad everything—but her soul? Her soul was singing.

Because no matter how chaotic he was, how dark his aura felt when he let go—Lux made her feel like she mattered. Like she wasn’t just another heiress in a gilded cage. Like she was the reward. Not the prize.

The fire between them surged again. Not because of hunger. Not even because of lust.

But because of want.

Raw. Electric. Dangerous.
