Ely gestured subtly toward the distant tree line where the rustling had originated. "Their life signatures are unstable. Fragnted. So appear corporeal, others… partially ethereal. It's as if they exist between states, neither fully alive nor truly spectral."

Rava's eyes widened, her tentacles instinctively shifting beneath her cloak. "That sounds like monsters."

Naomi shot her a sideways glance, lips twitching despite the tension. "I can't believe that statent ca from a tentacled creature like you."

Rava imdiately crossed her arms, feigning offense. "Hey! Having tentacles doesn't automatically make a monster."

Lux's lips curved faintly at the exchange, the humor easing the oppressive atmosphere just enough to keep everyone grounded.

Mira stepped forward, her expression calm but serious as she surveyed the landscape. "The locals have many rumors about this place," she explained. "They believe these mountains are haunted. They speak of wandering spirits, ghostly beasts, and voices that call travelers deeper into the snow."

Naomi's brows knit together. "Ghosts?"

Mira nodded once. "That's what they believe. But it's not entirely accurate."

Lux glanced at her, intrigued. "Then what is it?"

Mira placed a hand lightly against the icy stone beside her, feeling the subtle vibration beneath the surface. "It's the echo of dragon power. These mountains are saturated with ancient magic, residual energy from dragons that lived and died here over millennia. That power distorts the natural world. Animals adapt, mutate, or beco partially spectral. So are guardians. Others are simply… remnants."

Another rustle echoed, closer this ti.

Lux's senses sharpened instantly, infernal energy coiling beneath his skin in silent readiness. Despite his composed exterior, a thrill of anticipation stirred within him. The environnt was hostile, mysterious, and undeniably fascinating, exactly the kind of place where legends were born and reputations solidified.

He slipped one hand casually into his pocket, posture relaxed but eyes alert. "So," he murmured, "haunted mountains powered by ancient dragon echoes. Charming."

Rava leaned slightly toward him, whispering, "You say that like you're enjoying this."

Lux's smirk deepened. "I enjoy good branding."

Naomi shook her head, though a small smile betrayed her amusent.

Ely remained focused, her gaze scanning the shifting shadows as the wind carried another distant whisper through the peaks.

The eerie sensation lingered, like unseen eyes tracking their movent, like the mountains themselves were testing their resolve. Yet none of them faltered.

Together, they continued forward, boots crunching against the snow, their silhouettes stark against the pale, haunted landscape.

They continued forward until, at last, the stone gates erged from the swirling snow.

Massive.

Ancient.

Carved directly into the "mouth" of the dragon head.

The gates were adorned with intricate engravings of dragons in various forms, soaring, coiled, slumbering, each etched with a level of craftsmanship that spoke of civilizations long lost. Two colossal statues of dragon sentinels flanked the entrance, their eyes set with crystalline gems that seed to glow faintly as the group approached.

Lux slowed his steps, tilting his head slightly as he studied the structure.

"…Subtle," he murmured.

Mira stopped before the gates, placing an artifact gently against the cold stone.

For a mont, nothing happened. Then the runes ignited with a soft, ethereal glow, responding to her lineage. A deep rumble echoed through the mountain as ancient chanisms stirred to life.

[Access recognized: Dragonkin Artifact.]

Lux's gaze softened almost imperceptibly as he watched her. Pride again. Quiet. Unspoken.

The gates began to part, releasing a slow exhale of mist from within, as if the mountain itself were awakening to greet them.

Naomi stepped closer to Lux, her voice low. "Still think this will be easy?"

He considered the question, eyes fixed on the opening passage ahead.

"No," he admitted.

Then his lips curved into that familiar, confident smirk.

"But it will be fun."

The gates opened fully, revealing a vast cavern illuminated by bioluminescent crystals embedded in the walls. The air inside was warr, carrying the faint scent of ancient stone and sothing far older, dragonfire, perhaps, lingering through centuries.

Mira turned back to them. "Once we enter, we're officially under dragon law. Stay close."

Lux inclined his head slightly. "Lead the way, Princess."

She rolled her eyes but didn't hide her smile.

Together, they stepped forward, crossing the threshold into the Dragon Mountains.

The shift was imdiate.

The biting cold vanished the mont they passed through the ancient stone gates, replaced by a gentle warmth that wrapped around them like an unseen cloak.

There was no ice inside, only smooth stone corridors carved with ticulous precision, their surfaces worn by centuries of ti and magic. The air carried a faint mineral scent, tinged with sothing older… sothing primal.

Then, one by one, the torches ignited.

-Fwoosh!

Flas sprang to life along the walls without any visible trigger, their golden glow illuminating the vast interior passage. The light didn't feel threatening. It felt… welcoming. Like an invitation extended by the mountain itself.

Lux slowed his steps, eyes narrowing slightly as his senses sharpened.

[Environntal Status Update]

[Ancient Draconic Territory Detected.]

[Warning: You are being observed.]

[Recomndation: Proceed with caution, sir.]

His heartbeat responded before his mind did, one heavy thud against his ribs, followed by another. It wasn't fear. It was awareness. The unmistakable sensation of being watched, as if an ancient presence had turned its gaze upon him and whispered silently.

'I'm watching you.'

Lux's lips curled into a faint, confident smirk.

"Good," he murmured under his breath. "Watch closely."

Mira, walking a few steps ahead, glanced back at him. "Be careful," she said. "There are traps throughout the mountain. So are ancient, others… reactive to intruders."

Lux raised an eyebrow. "You know about all the traps?"

She shook her head slightly. "Only the major ones. The rest change over ti. The mountain adapts."

That was… reassuring. Not.

Lux's gaze shifted toward the others, Naomi, Rava, and Ely. Each of them carried themselves with readiness and quiet confidence. They had co prepared. He trusted them completely.

But Lux was not a man who appreciated unnecessary wounds.
