It lingered instead, unfinished, dangerous, quietly alive beneath her ribs.

Yue stood still for a mont longer, water droplets trailing down her skin, the warmth of the room clinging to her like a second layer. Her breathing had steadied, but her mind hadn't. It moved differently now, less like a weapon, more like sothing searching.

She didn't like that.

She wasn't used to that.

Her entire existence had always been anchored in certainty. Power. Control. Decision.

And now?

There was… uncertainty.

Not fear.

Not weakness.

Just sothing she didn't have a na for.

"Ridiculous," she murmured again, softer this ti.

Because it wasn't the sa.

Whatever this was, it was nothing like what she had felt with Kaelmor.

That had been calculation.

Assessnt.

A quiet weighing of strength and potential alliance.

There had been no warmth in it. No pull. No… presence.

Just power recognizing power.

But Lux…

Yue's fingers tightened slightly as she stepped out of the shower space, the air cooler against her skin now.

Lux was different.

He was younger.

She could feel it in the way his energy moved. Not immature, but not ancient in the way she was. Not worn by centuries.

And yet… He carried weight.

Responsibility.

Authority.

Like soone who had grown into power rather than inherited it.

Yue exhaled slowly.

"Am I like him?" she murmured under her breath.

The word felt… insufficient.

Too shallow.

It didn't capture the way her chest tightened when she thought about him standing in front of her.

Bleeding.

Smiling.

Refusing to back down from a sovereign curse.

Refusing to ask anything in return.

Her brows drew together faintly.

"Is that it?"

Because he saved her?

Because he broke chains she could not?

Because he stood where others would have claid ownership and didn't?

Her lips pressed together slightly.

It would have been easier if that were all it was.

Gratitude.

Relief.

A temporary attachnt born from survival.

But it didn't feel temporary.

It felt…

Grounded.

Heavy in a different way.

Yue stepped toward the mirror, catching her reflection.

Silver hair still damp.

Golden eyes clearer than they had been in centuries.

Scars faint but present.

Alive.

Free.

And yet her thoughts kept circling back to him.

To the way he moved in battle.

Not elegant like her.

Not fluid.

He was…

Direct.

Brutal.

Efficient.

He didn't waste motion.

He didn't waste intent.

Every strike carried purpose.

Every movent carved space for others to survive.

Yue's gaze softened just slightly.

He fought like soone who protected.

Not soone who conquered.

That…

That was new.

Her mind shifted again.

To the girls.

Naomi.

Rava.

Ely.

Mira.

They didn't orbit him out of obligation.

They didn't stand behind him because they had to.

They stood because they chose to.

Because they trusted him.

Because he trusted them.

Yue's fingers brushed lightly over her collarbone again, the phantom mory of that battlefield lingering.

Non-transactional.

The concept still felt foreign.

Lux was Greed.

Lux was Lust.

And yet… He didn't treat them like assets.

Didn't treat them like possessions.

Didn't even treat her like sothing to claim.

Yue closed her eyes briefly.

"Weird."

The word ca out softer than before.

Less judgnt.

More… acceptance.

She dressed slowly, pulling the cheongsam Mira had left for her over her body. The fabric clung to her naturally, elegant, fitted in a way that highlighted rather than concealed. It was unfamiliar, but not uncomfortable.

Modern.

Refined.

Her fingers adjusted the collar slightly, smoothing the material as she looked at herself again.

Different.

But not wrong.

Then…

Her gaze shifted.

To the counter.

Lux's jacket.

Yue stepped toward it slowly.

Her hand hovered for a mont before touching it again.

Warmth lingered faintly.

So did his scent.

It was subtle now beneath the clean air of the room, but still there.

Grounding.

Real.

Her fingers curled into the fabric instinctively.

That flutter returned.

Stronger this ti.

Not sharp.

Not overwhelming.

Just… present.

Like sothing settling into place.

"Tired," she whispered quietly.

That was the closest word she had.

Tired.

Of fighting alone.

Of enduring.

Of carrying everything herself.

And now… Now there was soone who had stepped in front of her.

Without asking.

Without claiming.

Without binding.

Yue lifted the jacket slowly, draping it over her arm instead of leaving it behind.

She didn't put it on.

But she didn't let it go either.

That felt… right.

When she stepped out of the room, the mansion's quiet returned around her. Soft light. Calm air. A world that felt almost unreal compared to where she had been.

Her steps were slow.

asured.

But not hesitant.

Yue paused at the threshold just as Mira turned toward her, already half out of her battle-worn clothes, hair loosened from its usual tie.

"Finished already?" Mira asked, casual, easy. "You can rest here. I made you so tea. There are snacks too. Dinner will be ready later."

Yue inclined her head once. "Thank you."

Mira waved it off. "Don't ntion it. I'm going to take a bath."

She disappeared again, leaving Yue alone with the quiet.

Again.

But this ti… it didn't feel empty.

Yue stepped further in, placing Lux's jacket carefully over the back of a chair before sitting down. The porcelain cup was still warm. Steam curled lazily upward.

She lifted it.

Sipped.

The taste was soft. Floral. Gentle in a way she didn't expect.

Her gaze lowered slightly as she set the cup down and reached for the snack beside it.

"Osmateus rice cake…" she murmured.

She bit into it.

The texture was familiar.

The taste…

Not quite.

Sothing had changed over the centuries. Or perhaps her mory had softened it. Either way, it lingered differently on her tongue now.

She chewed slowly.

Thoughtfully.

Her golden eyes drifted toward the doorway again.

Her fingers curled faintly against the table.

"I should rest," she whispered to herself.

She didn't move.

Instead, she took another sip of tea.

And found herself thinking…

Not of Kaelmor.

Not of the past.

But of him.

And whether he had finished his bath yet.
