gaCorp Cafeteria – Junior Workers' Lounge…

The spacious cafeteria was unusually quiet, with only the occasional clinking of cutlery and the soft murmurs of a group of workers cramd into one corner like sardines.

Miss rcury and Pulsar sat across from each other at a table that felt far too small for the tension hanging between them. Both of them were well aware of the hushed whispers coming from the corner, even though they made a show of ignoring it.

"Do you think they're fighting?"

"No way. Miss rcury doesn't seem like the type."

"You kidding? Pulsar's joining gaCorp. It's obvious they're going to compete. rcury has to be jealous—she's probably furious right now."

"Jealous? Nah, she's too nice for that. People just assu she's a diva because she's beautiful."

The others burst into quiet laughter at this and shook their heads at the notion.

But, what they didn't know was that Miss rcury had been off the Internet and away from her phone for about two weeks. The only updates she got were from TV, and even then, only when she caught a glimpse of the news early in the morning or late at night while watching with Scott.

Because of this, Miss rcury didn't know that Pulsar had signed up with gaCorp. She hadn't heard all the talk about how Pulsar was becoming the next big star or seen the posts on social dia claiming this might be the beginning of the end for Miss rcury's career.

It was quite a hassle.

For her part, Miss rcury leaned slightly back in her chair and kept her slender arms folded loosely as she studied Pulsar. Her smile was warm, disarming, the kind you'd expect from soone who genuinely didn't have a cruel bone in their body.

"So…"

rcury finally broke the silence.

Her tone was so light and angelic.

"I hear we're causing quite a stir. Can't even eat in peace without feeling like celebrities, huh?"

Pulsar smiled weakly as her fingers fidgeted with the edge of her tray.

"Guess so. Didn't realize lunch was a spectator sport."

Miss rcury chuckled and leaned forward slightly.

"I'll tell you what—thankfully, I've got accelerated healing, and you're built like a fortress. So, no need for aspirin. Crisis averted."

Pulsar blinked, then let out a short, nervous laugh.

"Uh, yeah. Silver linings, I guess."

rcury extended her hand across the table.

There was a wide smile on her beautiful face.

"Anyway, nice to et you. I'm Miss rcury."

Pulsar hesitated for a mont, then took the hand and shook it.

"Pulsar. And, uh… for what it's worth, my boyfriend and best friend both have your posters in their rooms. Though they usually hide them when anyone's around."

Miss rcury raised an eyebrow and laughed awkwardly as she released the handshake.

"Yikes. Okay, I'll assu the best friend is single. But as for the boyfriend… you should really either break up with that kind of guy or give him a stern warning. Trust , those types can be trouble."

On the inside, she was shrieking with excitent.

『Kyaaa~ ♡! Nothing like my dearest Scottie!』

But, she sohow managed to hide it on the outside.

Pulsar's smile faltered, and she looked away.

"Well… he kind of already broke up with ."

Sadness was in her voice.

rcury winced as her face squeezed a little.

"Oof. My bad. Didn't an to dredge up bad mories. Sounds like things didn't end too well with that jerk."

Pulsar gave a small, hollow laugh.

"He wasn't a jerk, though. It was . I… I ssed up. I was selfish, naive, too caught up in… everything else to see what I was throwing away. I regretted it the mont I let him go."

Her voice cracked slightly, and she hurriedly wiped at her eyes as tears began to fall.

"Sorry. I promised I wouldn't do this again. I'm such a ss sotis…"

rcury kept her tone soft but firm.

"Hey, hey. Stop that. Listen to for a second. Your boyfriend—do you want to talk to him again?"

Pulsar looked up, startled.

"I… I don't know. Maybe? Yes. Yes, I do."

rcury nodded firmly.

"Then give him a call. What's the worst that could happen? He says no? Fine, at least you'll know you tried. Look, there's no harm in being desperate for soone you love. Love isn't sothing to be ashad of."

She smiled with an almost wistful expression.

"I went after the man I loved, and it wasn't easy, but it's worth it. Every second of it. You deserve that too."

If she could get the man she loved to love her too, then she believed the sa for Pulsar.

Pulsar stared at her and the tears dried on her cheeks as her breathing steadied.

"You… really think I should call him?"

rcury stood and placed a reassuring hand on Pulsar's sylph-like shoulder.

"I know you should. And if he says no, you'll move on stronger. But if there's even the slightest chance he still cares, then it's worth fighting for."

The cafeteria workers in the corner were practically holding their breaths, trying to overhear the exchange.

Pulsar smiled softly as her shoulders relaxed for the first ti since she sat down. Discover exclusive tales on empire

"Thanks. I needed to hear that."

rcury gave her two light pats on the shoulder and stepped away, her smile as radiant as ever.

"Good luck, Pulsy. Oh, and next ti you want to cry, make sure you've got tissues handy. Soggy sleeves are never a good look."

With that, she left.

The workers in the corner resud their gossip.

"Wait… did rcury just inspire Pulsar?!"

"Man, she really is the real deal."

"Okay, I take it back. She's not jealous at all. She's amazing."

"I don't think that's the case... Maybe she doesn't even know what's about to happen. Honestly, poor Miss rcury. And Pulsar was smart enough not to tell her anything so she could at least focus on proving herself in the company."

"What are you talking about? Miss rcury has always been proving herself and working harder than anyone else here. She's incredibly dedicated and always willing to help others. I even heard she gave Joe Blumbitz half a million dollars to help him start a business and leave this job."

"Wait, really──?!"

"Yeah, no joke."

Across the room, Pulsar picked up her phone and her fingers trembled slightly as she dialed a number she thought she'd never call again.

『I… I don't know… can I?』

She just sat there, staring at the phone's screen.

━ ━ ━ ━

teor City, Crowe Enterprises…

Scott stepped into the mainfra room on the 48th floor.

『Sigh~ I could've hacked this without much trouble using the System's software, but with Amalie nearby, I couldn't take that risk. It'd only make my work a lot more complicated.』

The stolen ID card did its job as the scanner blinked green and the heavy steel door slid open with a low hiss.

He paused for a mont to scan the room with the calm deanor of soone who belonged there, even though his pulse quickened beneath his practiced facade.

『Alright, let's go…』

His hands slid casually into the pockets of his lab coat.

Inside, workers in matching coats bustled about.

They tapped away at holographic screens and typed quickly on consoles.

A few looked up when he ca in but went back to their work almost imdiately, showing no real interest.

[He made it. W, Nightwatch!]

["Hands in pockets" energy. Man's chillin' like he's on payroll. 😂]

[Bro's definitely sweating under that calm exterior, 100% 😭]

[LMAO, what if Nightwatch's just an employee here, and this is just his day job.]

└ [Imagine being a superhero and working a 9-to-5. Couldn't be .]

└ [I an… Superman does it. 💀]

└ [And that's why he always gets his girl girl stolen by the millionaire playboy.]

└ [Billionaire. Millionaires are so last year XD]

---

Scott looked around the room, noticing the tall rows of servers and the sleek consoles that glowed softly in the low light. He walked deeper into the space, moving slowly and deliberately. After a few steps, he saw a worker hunched over a monitor, adjusting his glasses every few seconds as he typed.

With a quick tap on the man's shoulder, Scott leaned in and spoke softly.

"Hey, man. Any idea where Miss Andersen is? Haven't seen her around."

"Tch, that filthy bitch…"

"Eh?" Scott raised eyebrow.

The worker barely looked up and pushed his glasses higher up the bridge of his nose.

"Uhh, she went to grab coffee. Should be back soon."

He returned to his screen.

Scott gave him an appreciative nod.

"Oh, cool. Thanks, man."

He walked over to a nearby chair and acted like he was about to sit down. However, as soon as the worker settled back into his work, Scott quietly slipped behind one of the tall server racks.

[Man, Nightwatch is criminal levels of sneaky. ]

[Bro's about to hack the Pentagon with this setup. 🔥]

[He didn't even sit! Peak fakeout energy.]

└ [Budget Jas Bond strikes again. 😂]

[Isn't this the sa guy who once fumbled a warehouse keypad? LMFAO.]

└ [He's evolved since then. Leave him alone. 😤]

└ [Still better than The Peak XD]

---

Scott pulled out a thin, flexible cable from his wristwatch.

The sleek tech clicked softly as he plugged it into a discreet port on the server. Instantly, holographic screens popped up before him to display the intricate web of security firewalls.

His fingers danced over the translucent interface as he navigated the system with ease.

[Dissolving all detected firewalls…]

[Simultaneously installing backdoor…]

[ACCESS GRANTED!]

Scott looked relieved.

"A few minutes and I should be done…"

---

anwhile…

On the 40th floor, Amalie sipped her coffee as she leaned casually against a nearby wall. Her phone was pressed to her ear, and her face was lit up with a genuine smile that was always rare at work.

"Really, Dad?"

She looked as excited as a child.

"You think he'll actually do it? Propose?"

Chrisley's hearty laughter bood through the phone.

"Of course, sweetheart! My boy's a fool if he doesn't. I can already picture it—you walking into the factory together, pretending I don't know anything, and then bawling my eyes out when he says the words. Gotta make it dramatic, you know!"

Amalie giggled as she tucked a stray strand of hair behind her small ear.

"You're impossible. But I can't wait either. He's been acting so weird lately—I just have this feeling."

Across the room, her subordinates couldn't stop staring at her with faces of disgust.

"She really dresses like that every day? With her salary?"

"Ugh, looking at her makes want to throw up…"

"Right? And her hair—it always looks so dirty. Doesn't she own a fuckin' brush?"

"Her skin's annoyingly flawless, though. Ugh, I hate that soone so gross could look so good."

"Gross? She's got a boyfriend, you know. Imagine the kind of creep who'd date her."

"Probably soone as dirty as she is."

"The thing that annoys the most is that she's probably the person Lady Crowe trusts the most in this damn company. I really can't stand Amalie!"

"Ugh, yeah, right──?!"

Amalie paused mid-sip.

Her sharp eyes sliced through the room.

The group fell silent instantly and pretended to focus on their screens.

"Uh, Dad…"

Her tone turned sweet again.

"… hold on a sec."

She set her coffee down and flashed a tight-lipped smile at her coworkers, who scrambled to appear busy.

Returning to her call, she sighed.

"Sorry about that, Dad. Where were we?"

Chrisley chuckled knowingly.

"Dealing with the vultures again, huh? Don't let them get to you, kiddo. You've got bigger things to focus on—like your future with my idiot son, Joe!"

Amalie smiled as her voice softened.

"You're right. I can't wait, Dad."

---

Back on the 48th floor, Scott was done.

He withdrew the cable and slid it back into his watch.

[MISSION COMPLETE?]

[Bro's too calm. That ans sothing's about to go WRONG.]

[Man's one step away from turning this whole company upside down. 😂]

[If he pulls this off, he deserves ALL the donos.]

Scott tiredly stretched his arms out.

"Alright, folks. The hard part's done. Now, let's see if I can get out of here without running into trouble…"

Scott exited the mainfra room.

With a quick glance down the hallway, he adjusted his lab coat and casually made his way toward the elevator.

『The hard part's done. Just a smooth exit. No drama.』

The elevator dinged in the distance. Its digital panel showed it descending, stopping montarily on the 42nd floor before continuing its slow climb to the 48th.

Scott frowned.

『Soone's coming up. Not ideal.』

He was about to pivot toward the stairs when the elevator doors slid open with an all-too-familiar hiss.

Amalie Andersen stepped out, her coffee in one hand, her phone in the other, still mid-conversation.

She looked up—and their eyes locked.

Scott froze for half a second before instinct kicked in.

『Shit! It's her! No ti.』

He moved.

The comnts exploded.

[NOOOO, NOT HER!!!]

[DON'T YOU DARE TOUCH HER, NIGHTWATCH!]

[Bruh, my man's about to make the biggest mistake of his vigilante life. 💀]

[Or the best. I an, look at her.]

└ [Bro, she's kind of… dirty?]

└ [Nah, man, her appearance is just ssy. There's a BIG difference.]

└ [You're all blind. She's fine as hell.]

└ [Ok, not a simp, but… fooooiiiine.]

---

Scott rushed into the elevator and slamd the close-door button while simultaneously pressing his palm over Amalie's mouth. She gasped as her coffee slipped from her hand and splattered on the elevator floor.

Her body stiffened, and she tried to scream, but Scott pushed her firmly against the wall.

His other arm went around her waist and he pulled close enough that he could feel her soft breasts against his chest as her heart pounded.

"Don't make a sound. I'm not here to hurt you. Just stay quiet, and we'll both walk away from this. Got it?"

Amalie's wide, terrified eyes stared into his, but she nodded frantically. Her breathing was sharp and shallow against his hand as her body trembled.

The viewers went ballistic.

[HOLY SHIT, NIGHTWATCH?!]

[BRO WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!]

[This man went from zero to CRIMINAL in two seconds.]

[Relax, he's got a plan. Right? RIGHT?! 😭]

└ [Idk, man. This ain't looking very heroic.]

[WIFE HER UP, NIGHTWATCH. RIGHT NOW.]

└ [Imagine simping for your hostage. Couldn't be .]

└ [At this point he should just wife up any woman that pops up on his stream. They all bad bitches! 😭🙏]

---

Scott tilted his head slightly and his tone dropped into sothing almost casual as he leaned closer.

"Has anyone ever told you you're… beautiful?"

Amalie blinked as her fear turned into confusion.

"I an it."

He sniffed lightly as his lips quirked in a faint smirk.

"Not a fan of heavy perfus, but you? Nice. Natural. Fruity. Kind of refreshing."

Her eyebrows twitched upward, and her eyes softened for the briefest mont before she turned her head away.

『I-, Is he trying to mock ? My coworkers and even Lady Crowe says I sll funny… then again I don't bla them. It was my choice to look like this!』

She desperately tried to stay strong.

Scott took the opportunity and gently grabbed her butt.

"WH-, WHAT──?!"

Amalie tried to scream through his hand.

He pressed the hand against her mouth more while he kept caressing her butt softly. Amalie's cheeks were turning red and her body was shivering and she closed her eyes shut and quickly looked away in pain.

Scott wasn't enjoying this.

『I'm really sorry, Amalie…』

When he saw that she was a little too overwheld by his touch, he was certain her focus was gone.

『I can never be too careful around you…』

His hand gently slid away from her ass cheek as he deftly slipped a micro-device into the pocket of her lab coat. His touch was so smooth that even she didn't notice.

The viewers erupted.

[WHAT DID HE JUST DO?!]

[Was that a tracker? A bug? A… I don't even KNOW!]

└ [Nah, that's def a plot device. Pun intended.]

[Bro's smooth as hell. Not gonna lie.]

["Fruity"? LMAO, that's his pickup line?!]

└ [And it WORKED. She's blushing. SIMP.]

[So we just not gon talk about how he was squeezing her butt like it was stress ball? Okay ಠ_ಠ…]

---

Amalie's panic resurfaced as she grunted angrily against his hand. Her knee shot up in a desperate attempt to hit him in the nuts, but Scott, anticipating the move, shifted and trapped her leg between his thighs.

"Ah, ah, ah."

His voice was teasing but firm.

"Don't be naughty. Just stay good, and we'll both get out of this with no problems. Alright?"

Amalie froze as her body trembled more.

Slowly, she lowered her leg and mumbled a muffled…

"Sorry."

The comnts exploded again.

["DON'T BE NAUGHTY"? 💀 BRO IS WILDIN'.]

[Nah, this man's dialogue is PEAK villain energy.]

[Why is she… lowkey into it now?]

└ [Stockholm Syndro speedrun.]

[Amalie's about to betray the company for him. Fukin' calling it now.]

---

The elevator dinged, signaling their arrival on the first floor.

As the doors parted, six security guards stood waiting, along with the man whose ID Scott had stolen.

"That's him!"

The man shouted and pointed a trembling finger.

"It's GOT to be him!"

Scott's mind raced, but his face remained calm.

He kept his body positioned to shield his face from view, then leaned closer to Amalie one last ti.

"Just so advice. No man's sticking around if you don't step up your wardrobe ga and clean yourself up a little. But ? I think you're fine just the way you are. Then again, I don't always have the best tastes…"

With a wink, he released her and pivoted smoothly to dodge two security guards who lunged into the cramped elevator.

The viewers lost it.

[WHAT DID HE JUST SAY TO HER?!]

["You're fine the way you are" 🥹 I'M DEAD.]

[This man's out here dropping both insults AND friggin' complints. PICK A SIDE.]

[Bro, focus on escaping, not rizz. 💀]

└ [Peak multitasking. W Nightwatch.]

---

Scott's agility was sothing to behold. In the tight space of the elevator, he flipped, ducked, and darted around the last few guards. He used every surface—walls, ceiling, even the guards themselves—to his advantage. By the ti he finished, the guards were a tangled ss, cuffed together with their own restraints and looking completely out of sorts!

"GET HIM!"

The man scread, but it was too late.

Scott stepped out of the elevator, hit the close button, and waved as the doors slid shut.

"Gentlen…"

The guards roared in frustration as the viewers howled with laughter.

[LMAOOOOO THEY GOT PLAYED.]

[Man cuffed them like a magician. HOW?!]

[My guy's movent is straight out of an ani. W choreography.]

└ [Can we get a slow-mo replay on that?]

[This is why I watch Nightwatch streams. It's always GOATED content. 🔥🔥🔥]

---

Scott pulled off his lab coat and tossed the ID card to the nervous man who had already backed into a corner.

He let out a chuckle, then turned and started walking toward the exit, his head down and eyes focused on his phone.

As soon as he stepped outside, the first thing he noticed was an incoming call from an unknown number.

Without hesitation, he ended the stream.

[@NightwatchOfficial: Sorry guys, I'll get back to y'all in a bit, alright? |_・)…]

His eyes didn't leave the phone's screen.

『Hm… unknown number?』
