The photographers and fans pressed in closer as their caras flashed like tiny explosions in Brigid's face.

Their excitent was so dense.

"Miss Psyche! Over here!"

"Can we get a shot of you holding this plushie? It'll be a big seller in the market!"

"Smile, please! No, wait—look more heroic!"

Brigid's breathing quickened as her hands nervously fidgeted at her sides.

A sharp poke in her lower back made her freeze.

Turning slightly, she realized it was the lens of a cara, shoved uncomfortably close.

Her body acted on instinct.

『I don't want these n so close to ──ARGH!』

A translucent green sphere shimred into existence around her to gently push the crowd back without knocking anyone over. The barrier expanded slowly and created so much-needed breathing room.

The fans gasped in awe.

"Whoa! Did she just use her powers?"

"That's amazing!"

One of the photographers leaned in and inspected the glowing green shield.

"Hey, how does that work?!"

Brigid chuckled nervously, brushing her bangs from her face as she gestured to the small black-and-green headgear perched on her head.

"Well… it's all ntal, really…"

Her voice was pillow-soft but gained confidence as the crowd hung on her every word.

"My sensei, Lord Scott, invented these devices to help tap into my ntal abilities. They amplify my focus so I can create constructs like this. But… uh…"

She scratched the back of her neck, blushing.

"I-, I'm still kind of a beginner, so I can only make simple ones… uhm, for… now, I guess…"

The crowd nodded as if srized.

"That's so cool!"

"There's sothing so sexy about her inexperience!"

"She can read minds, too, right? Does that an she knows what we're thinking right now?!"

"Psssh──she better not because it's not family friendly is all I'm gonna say."

Brigid's face turned red.

"O-, Oh, no, nothing like that! I only use it for… um… professional purposes…"

The crowd laughed, and her barrier flickered out as she began to feel more at ease. But just as she thought things were calming down, one fan spoke up.

"Hey, should we form a line to take pictures with her?"

A photographer scoffed, then adjusted his cara.

"A line? That'll fuckin' take forever! We should just form a semicircle and take them all at once. It's way more efficient."

Another photographer yanked his cara down.

"Efficient? How about we let her decide instead of making demands?"

The first photographer bristled. "Oh, yeah? Who put you in charge?! My way is clearly better!"

As things got heated, the other superheroes just watched from their respective booths, which were all empty since Brigid's presence was now all anyone wanted to see.

Gadget Girl folded her arms and let out a sigh.

"This is getting crazy…"

Ruse glanced at her as he raised an eyebrow.

"She needs a handler…"

His dry eyes then shifted to Marcus, who was still twitching in pain on the floor.

"Uh… a really good one…"

He squeezed his face as if he could feel Marcus's pain.

Before things could escalate further, a deep voice cut through the pointless bickering.

"All right, people. Let's settle down."

The crowd parted as Rhinoman stepped forward.

His towering fra sheltered everyone in his fierce and imposing shadow.

He raised one massive hand as his other arm rested casually on his armored hip.

"Let's show so manners here…"

The man sounded strict yet kind.

"This is Miss Psyche's first big event, and you're all gonna scare her off if you keep this up. Let's try to keep things extra polite, yeah?"

The crowd mumbled their agreent.

Several photographers sheepishly lower their caras.

One wiped his face with a towel.

"The rhino guy's right. We've been too pushy."

A fan nodded, clutching their autograph book.

"She's so sweet. If Psyche wasn't such an angel, she'd probably hate us by now."

Rhinoman turned to Brigid and his expression softened as he placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder.

"You okay, kid? Didn't an to let things get this crazy."

Brigid forced a nervous laugh as her small hand fiddled with the hem of her suit.

"Y-, Yeah… I'm super-duper fine… ahahah…"

Her trembling voice betrayed her nerves, and Rhinoman gave her shoulder a gentle squeeze.

"Don't worry about it…" he said. "First ti at an SMPE can be tough, but you'll get through it. Trust ."

Brigid tilted her head as her curiosity built.

"Wait… isn't this your first SMPE too?"

Rhinoman chuckled, scratching the back of his thick neck.

"Here? Yeah. But , Ruse, Gadget Girl… we've been hitting these events all year. Gotta keep showing up until a company notices us, you know?"

Brigid frowned as her fingers nervously twisted together.

"So… no company's picked you yet?"

Rhinoman sighed, then his shoulders slumped slightly.

"Nah. In the hero world, it's all about elitism. If your powers aren't flashy or unique enough, you get overlooked. People like don't have it easy. But hey—this is my sixth SMPE this year, so maybe my luck will turn around."

Brigid hesitated before patting his arm with her tiny hand.

"Don't worry. Your ti will co. I'm sure of it."

Rhinoman's wide grin returned. "Thanks, kid. For now, let's focus on your big mont, huh?"

He gestured to a newly cleared space in the hall.

Ruse and Gadget Girl had moved their booths aside to create a perfect spot for Brigid to comfortably interact with her fans.

Ruse nodded at her from afar, while Gadget Girl waved excitedly, then flashed a big thumbs-up.

Brigid's chest tightened as she blinked back tears.

"I… I don't know what to say…"

Rhinoman's eyes widened in panic.

"Whoa, hey, no crying! I didn't an to upset you!"

Brigid shook her head and slowly wiped her eyes with a trembling hand.

"No… I'm just… really grateful. Thank you."

Rhinoman exhaled in relief before flashing her a toothy grin.

"Anyti, Miss Psyche. Now go out there and shine. You've got this."

Brigid took a deep breath, squared her shoulders, and stepped forward into the cleared space. The crowd erupted in cheers as the caras clicked away to capture the first of many shining monts in her hero career.

・・・

The crowd of photographers arranged themselves into a perfect semicircle around Brigid with their caras raised and ready to capture her every move.

Off to the side, a line of fans patiently waited as each pair stepped forward in twos to stand beside Brigid for their mont of fa. As one pair left, the next would eagerly shuffle in, and the sound of cara shutters clicking sounded like a wave of applause.

… click────CLICK!!

The flashes were relentless but not overwhelming.

Instead, they bathed Brigid in a spotlight that made her glow even brighter. Every pose she struck was t with cheers, gasps, and excited whispers.

"Psyche! Tilt your head to the left!"

"Smile, smile! No, a little wider—perfect!"

"Can you do the peace sign? Oh my God, she's adorable!"

Brigid laughed nervously and her cheeks flushed from the attention, but the growing confidence in her movents was hard to miss. Each fan who stood beside her whispered sothing—sotis a complint, sotis a heartfelt thanks—and their words bolstered her spirit.

She wasn't adored by the fans.

No… she was loved by them.

・・・

After nearly an hour of posing and interacting with her fans, the line finally dwindled. The fans dispersed to her booth, eager to marvel at her awards and snap up the limited-edition rchandise.

Stationed dutifully at the booth, Marcus ensured that everything ran smoothly.

"Careful, one at a ti, please!"

Marcus instructed with a strained but genuine smile as he handed out the last of the rch.

In a matter of minutes, everything was gone.

The awards were admired, the rch was snatched up, and the booth stood bare.

Marcus sighed heavily.

He ran his fingers through his hair.

"Man… Big Bro really needs to let us sell this stuff. Do you know how much cash we could've made? It's insane!"

He shook his head, his voice dropping to a resigned mutter.

"But nooo, 'it's not about the money,' he says. 'It's about the image…' Psssh!"

His shoulders slumped as he shrugged.

"Still, I'm not about to argue. Last ti I did, I couldn't sit straight for an hour."

He straightened up and plastered on a smile as he handed out autographs instead.

"Enjoy, everyone! All free of charge. Psyche's orders."

・・・

From afar, Gadget Girl leaned against her booth while her soft eyes locked on Brigid as she continued posing for the last few photographers.

"She's got a knack for this…"

She could only say this with a bright smile.

Rhinoman crossed his massive, beefed-up arms as his expression turned thoughtful.

"She's sothing else, all right. A natural-born hero. You don't see that kind of spark often."

He tilted his head, then watched Brigid strike another pose for the caras.

Her face lit up when she heard the cheers of her fans.

"She's still rough around the edges, but sotis it's the ones who doubt themselves the most that turn out to be the strongest. Life's hardships mold people like her into the ideal hero that can stand as a symbol of hope…"

Leaning against a pillar nearby, Ruse nodded in agreent.

"Couldn't have said it better myself."

Rhinoman smirked, then nudged him playfully.

"You're agreeing with ? The fuck? Who are you, and what've you done with the real Ruse?"

Ruse winced at the jab as he rubbed his arm.

"Hey, I can be supportive when I want to be…"

Gadget Girl's grin widened. "Oh, look at you, Ruse. Smiling like a regular person. Soone call the press."

The smirk vanished from Ruse's face in an instant.

"What smile? Never happened."

He turned away and his face beca the perfect picture of indifference, but Gadget Girl didn't stop giggling.

・・・

anwhile, in a private VIP hall above the event, Irina watched everything unfold through a small window. Her sharp, blue eyes tracked Brigid's every move.

There was no hiding the disgust in her eyes.

"That's Brigid MacLeighlin…"

She hissed through gritted teeth.

Her hand clenched her phone tighter as she scrolled through Instaflick, where Miss rcury's promotional posts about Brigid dominated the feed. With a flick of her thumb, she switched to Chirper and saw endless threads about Scott's connection to Brigid.

『So Miss rcury makes posts about a random like Brigid but even after I ssaged her all these years… she doesn't even care to reply to even one of my ssages…』

Irina's anger boiled over as her nails dug into her palm.

"That little wretch… stealing all the attention…"

Without a word, the phone in her hand crumpled into a tight, tallic ball under the force of her telekinesis. She tossed it aside and her eyes burned with silent fury as she glared down at Brigid's radiant smile.

・・・

Back in the main hall, Brigid continued to pose under the photographers' guidance.

"Miss Psyche, strike another pose!"

"Lean forward just a bit!"

"Hold that energy—it's perfect!"

Brigid complied effortlessly and her smile grew wider with each click of the caras.

A photographer raised his hand to speak.

"Hey, Miss Psyche! Is it possible that your super suit was inspired by THE Nightwatch?"

The question caught Brigid off guard.

She paused and glanced down at her suit for the first ti that day. The black and green design, sleek and practical, bore an undeniable resemblance to Nightwatch's iconic look.

Her heart swelled with emotion as sweet and teary mories flooded her mind.

Scott had stayed up through the night crafting this suit for her, pouring his energy into every detail.

He'd taught her etiquette, helped her find her footing in this new world, and had even roped in Miss rcury to ensure her debut was perfect.

Her voice trembled as she spoke, her hands coming together in front of her.

"This suit… it's special to . Soone very… very important designed it. He believed in when I didn't truly believe in myself… but then again, I sort of put all my faith in him, so you could say I always believed in myself through him, and now this super suit, is him believing in through himself…"

Tears welled in her eyes as her fingers shaped a heart.

『Miss Emma, Miss Nadia, Marcus… Lord Scott… th-, they all made sure this was possible…』

A vibrant green glow radiated from her chest as it expanded outward into a luminous heart-shaped construct that lit up the entire hall.

The crowd erupted in awe.

"She's incredible!"

"Psyche, you're amazing!"

"Did you get that shot? That's going viral for sure!"

"She's like an angel!!"

Brigid's glowing heart flickered as she smiled through her tears. For the first ti in her life, she felt like more than just a tool or the next big thing. She was part of sothing bigger… sothing aningful.

And for now, that was enough.

In the corner where Brigid's booth was, Marcus just smiled at all this as he arranged the emptied-out booth. Just then, he saw a fresh paper that wasn't there before, so he opened it up and saw it was a short letter from Scott.

"GOOD JOB…"

That's all that was written.

Marcus grabbed his chest tightly and chuckled.

『She's really lucky to have a guy like him around…』

anwhile…

Agent Red stood on the rooftop as his eye scope trained on Brigid below. He extended a hand, and the red, slimy substance began to slither out from the veins of his right arm in a coordinated, almost sentient motion—it was alive.

Monts later, his arm twisted and morphed to transform into a jagged, grotesquely mutated version of a four-barreled plasma cannon.

A sinister smile spread across his face.

"Let the fun begin…"

These rookie heroes didn't know it yet, but this would be their first true test—the kind that demanded they navigate the perilous fields of heroism in ways they'd never imagined.
