Kyle watched Calista go out with Lorenzo, but he remained in her ho because it was like his own at that point.
Calista didn’t request that he leave either, but this allowed Kyle freedom to explore her quarters.
He was surprised it was neat; there was not a single speck of dust in the house.
Kyle wondered if she had a cleaner or she did it all herself, not that it mattered.
He lay on her bed and took out his phone. Kyle knew he needed so rest.
Even with his skills, he was still feeling the aftereffects, but it didn’t an he would be bedridden.
He knew Ella was living with him, and while she was aware he was seeing other won, he didn’t want her to know each ti he had sex.
Kyle took out his phone to see how things were going with Priscilla; she had yet to give him an update regarding the judge whom she had taken to jail.
The last thing he would want is for him to get off on so technicalities and pull a Punisher on him.
However, she picked up her phone rather quickly. Kyle was used to it ringing a couple of tis before getting an answer, not right away.
"If it isn’t my favourite police officer," Kyle began the conversation and could tell she was annoyed right away as she sighed.
[[What do you want?]] Priscilla asked, but there was a montary silence before the next set of words ca in, even though the silence felt like an eternity.
[[I didn’t get the chance to thank you for your help.]] Priscila added, but Kyle knew she didn’t owe him any thanks because he was the one who she helped at the end of the day.
However, Priscilla was showing her gratitude, but Kyle could hear that sothing was bothering her.
"Are you okay?" Kyle asked, and another brief silence followed.
[[I am, why?]] Priscilla asked, but Kyle stopped for a second to think about his response because he couldn’t blurt out the first thing that ca to his mind.
"You sound strange," Kyle responded, but this shocked her. Priscilla was a master of deception.
No one should be able to tell, so how did Kyle pick up on this so fast?
[[Why did you call , Kyle?]] Priscilla ignored his question because she didn’t feel the need to answer anything she didn’t want to.
"I called to check up on you. It was a significant disappointnt, so I want to know how it has affected you. It felt personal for you." Kyle quickly changed the objective of the call after picking up that sothing was bothering her.
Another brief silence followed, but Priscilla didn’t say a word despite how much ti had passed.
"Are you there?" Kyle asked.
[[I’m fine, Kyle. I just told you, is there anything else you want to ask?]] Priscilla questioned, but Kyle just sighed.
Sothing was exhausting about communicating with her, but he had to put up with it because she was his only access to the police force.
"You know what? I will just ask Oliver," Kyle said and before he could move to end the call.
[[Is that a threat?]] Priscilla questioned, she sounded so serious that one would assu he had just made a threat to take her life.
This confused Kyle because this wasn’t his intention, but she took it too seriously for it to be nothing.
"Woah! Take it easy..." Kyle was genuinely taken aback by this because there was no need for all of this aggression to begin with.
Priscilla knew she had to calm down, and this could be noted by her deep breath.
[[I have been assigned a new case.]] Priscilla inford Kyle, hoping she didn’t need to speak further on it.
"A new case? No day off, huh?" Kyle responded, but got no response.
"It must be a big deal if it even affects you," Kyle added, but once again didn’t get a response.
Kyle was now certain sothing had happened behind the scenes.
It had to do with the new case she had been assigned, no doubt.
"I will talk to you later," Kyle said before hanging up the phone right away.
There was no reason to remain on the phone at that point.
Kyle was certain she had her reason for acting the way she did, and now wasn’t the ti to play detective.
He thought about contacting Oliver, but sothing told him Priscilla wouldn’t take kindly to it.
Oliver was the compassionate one, but Kyle had seen he wasn’t so mindless puppet who did everything he was told; otherwise, Jasmine’s brother would most likely have suffered lifelong injuries.
He had Oliver to thank for that, but Kyle turned on the television to entertain himself for a bit, but the news ca on.
It reported the killing of a man whose body was found in multiple cities.
But this wasn’t what spooked Kyle; it was the identity of the body found.
It was the sa man who had attempted to kill Kyle.
Kyle instantly knew why Priscilla was so shaken; it must be because this was the case she had been given.
"The fuck Alfredo..." Kyle muttered to himself upon witnessing what they had done to the man.
This was getting complicated because Priscilla would no doubt beco a target.
This was sothing he couldn’t let happen.
-
Priscilla got off the phone with Kyle and didn’t look bothered by what he had done.
The fact that he hung up was expected, but she had more pressing matters on her hands.
She was smart enough not to inform Kyle about what was going on because there was a chance it could leak.
The last thing she wanted was everyone being inford she was going after the Mafia.
If anything, it would serve as a ans to keep the case under wraps, but if the stories of a mole were true.
Priscilla knew she would soon be approached by soone who would want her to play ball.
This way, she would act as a double agent and betray everything she stood for.
"Kyle calls you now?" Oliver questioned, but Priscilla didn’t give a verbal response and chose to shrug.
They were about to leave the police station to et up with the unit currently at the cri scene.
They needed to know as much as possible, but they had already identified the victim.
He was a nobody; there was no affiliation with any major cri sect, and the only cri he had on record was a speeding ticket. That was a far shot from being a violent criminal to incur such a reaction.
Other than that, he was clean, which made Priscilla wonder how he got such a reaction from such a powerful syndicate family.
This wasn’t a random murder; it was a warning.
Oliver could tell she was in thought and already knew she was deciphering the case.
This was how her mind worked; it did so 24/7 until the case was solved.
"What is going through that head of yours?" Oliver questioned.
"The killing is too extre for a person with no affiliation to any major cri sect, don’t you think?" Priscilla questioned.
"I an, they might have crossed them without knowing?" Oliver proposed.
"This is the Mafia, they have more effective ans of dealing with infractions... This was a ssage, but to whom?" Priscilla said.
Oliver appreciated that she had already started working on the case, but he could tell how tired she was just looking at her.
"And did you notice the connection in which the body parts were sent?" Priscilla questioned.
"They are all territories held by so of the biggest cri groups," Oliver pointed out.
This showed he had done his research despite the case being given to them a couple of hours ago.
"This wasn’t the killing of an innocent man... But they have caught Arica’s attention," Priscilla added with a sigh.
"This is a chance to make a difference," Oliver said.
"A difference? I do hope so," Priscilla responded, but the truth was, she knew this would barely scratch the surface.
This was the Mafia they were talking about, not so small gang, and they had connections in high places.
Priscilla knew they were up against the impossible and had no idea how to approach this because this was sothing even the FBI couldn’t crack.

Ella had interacted with Jones for a bit, and the first impression she had of was a good one.
He didn’t make any inappropriate comnts, kept his eyes above her chest and acted like a man who was taken.
She wanted to leave, but Kyle’s apartnt was too comfortable; it had everything she would need, and this allowed her to snoop around.
Ella checked for things that Kyle would have otherwise kept hidden, but to her surprise, nothing was incriminating in his apartnt.
He must have done so thorough cleaning, considering Jane did live with him for so ti.
