"Hormone?"

Harry had heard the term on TV before, and in his mind, it was always associated with sex, so his face imdiately turned red.

Wade seed thoughtful. "No wonder…"

Seeing the other two were confused, he explained:

"In Muggle research, hormones are considered the source of human life. Everything related to the body and mind—growth, developnt, health, emotions, desires—are all influenced by hormones."

"It's said that supplenting hormones can slow aging, extend lifespan, and maintain vitality and youth. On the other hand, when hormone secretion decreases, organs begin to deteriorate, aging sets in, and ntal states decline.

That's why Muggles have been paying increasing attention to hormone research in recent years."

"And even the slightest change in hormone levels can have huge effects—completely altering both physiological and psychological states."

Harry only half-understood. "So… those people injected Remus with so kind of 'wolf transformation hormone' that forced him to turn into a werewolf?"

Wade nodded slightly. "I think their research on werewolves must be incredibly advanced—so much so that they managed to extract the corresponding hormonal substances from a werewolf's body."

Human experintation is a grim subject. Fortunately, Harry's life experience wasn't enough for him to fully grasp the implications.

But Lupin's hand, which had been resting on the blanket, trembled slightly before clenching into a fist.

"I have a werewolf friend," he said hoarsely. "Soone paid him to participate in an experint… He's been missing for months now."

Harry was stunned.

Wade glanced at Lupin but said nothing.

He knew Lupin was talking about Will, but he had no intention of revealing the truth.

Lupin had survived the darkest days of his life, yet instead of focusing on himself, he tried his best to help others who had suffered as he had.

But those he helped—the ones he called friends—didn't thank him. Instead, they resented him, and hated him for not sinking into the sa misery they had.

Just hearing about it was disgusting enough.

In comparison, Wade thought—letting Lupin believe that Will was still the sa person he once knew, that he had just unfortunately fallen victim to sothing terrible—was probably the kinder choice.

Back in the dormitory, Wade sat in deep thought for a long ti before finally opening his Book of Friends.

He reached out to Claire.

[Werner: Are you there?]

Back when he was dealing with those vampires, Wade had seen Claire's photo in their hand. He thought she might have disappeared as well, but to his surprise, she replied almost imdiately.

[Claire: I'm here, I'm here! Mr. Werner, is there sothing you need from ?]

[Werner: The blood sample you sent earlier didn't show anything unusual, but we've co up with a new research approach. I'd like you to send another sample—preferably taken right after transformation.]

Claire responded enthusiastically:

[Claire: I understand. I'll collect the blood after the next full moon and send it to you.]

Wade set down his quill, retrieved a pouch of Galleons from his wardrobe space, and looked at Eva, who was perched on a nearby shelf.

The owl had just flown in from the Grey family estate yesterday, bringing a scarf knitted by Wade's mother.

"Eva," Wade said, "take this pouch of money to Claire. While you're there, keep an eye on her. See if there are any unusual werewolves or vampires around her."

As he spoke, he fastened a small gemstone-like ornant around the owl's neck.

It was his latest invention—a Streaming Mirror master lens, no larger than a fingernail, easily concealed within a transparent gemstone casing.

Eva extended her talons, grasped the money pouch, and gave a serious-sounding hoot.

"Be careful. If she's being controlled, fly back imdiately."

Wade handed her a few strips of dried at as a treat before watching the owl soar out the window and vanish into the distance.

He shut the window and tapped his wand against the wall. A Sub-mirror unfolded like a television screen, standing upright against the surface.

"Phil," Wade called softly.

With a pop, a house-elf appeared, holding a rag. In a hushed voice, he said, "Master Wade Grey, please give Phil any orders. Phil is very happy to assist Master Wade Grey."

"While I'm in class tomorrow, can you keep an eye on this mirror for ?" Wade asked.

"Of course…" Phil hesitated before asking, "Just watch it?"

Wade replied, "If you see a young girl appear in the mirror, notify imdiately. If I can't co right away, I want you to record everything that happens."

Ordinary Sub-mirrors didn't have recording functions, but that wasn't an issue for Wade.

"Yes, sir," Phil said in a whisper. "Phil will carry out the task with great care."

Wade felt reassured.

House-elves were naturally diligent, but Phil was the most ticulous of them all.

The next day, they had Defense Against the Dark Arts class.

Professor Abigail no longer engaged in one-on-one duels with students this sester.

Instead, she had learned a ga called "Mafia" from a wizard friend in Russia and enthusiastically replaced her lessons with it.

She justified it with the grand statent—

"Real combat doesn't require flashy techniques. You just need to react faster than your opponent and end the fight using the thods you're most familiar with!"

At the start of each class, Professor Abigail would hand out identity cards—

~Aurors, the strongest but smallest in number.

~Ordinary villagers, who have no magical abilities and can only hide or run.

~Civilian wizards, who have so ability to fight back.

~Werewolves, who can attack anyone and are contagious.

Each role had its own abilities, allegiances, and movent restrictions. Players had to act according to their identities, turning the ga into a real-life "Werewolf version" of Mafia.

Students would chase, attack, and counterattack each other in chaotic battles, making every Defense Against the Dark Arts class feel like a small-scale skirmish.

The first ti Wade played the ga, he was assigned the Auror role. He eliminated all the werewolves within minutes. After that, he was only ever given the villager card.

But typically, Wade would just stay near the professor, practicing spells or reading. No werewolves ever bothered attacking this "ordinary villager."

During today's class, Professor Abigail wasn't paying attention to the students' ga. Instead, she approached Wade.

"Grey, can your magical dolls be made to look like magical creatures?" she asked.

"They can, but only in appearance. The Dolls won't have the actual abilities of magical creatures," Wade replied.

"That's fine. I might need a few Red Caps, Hinkypunks, Grindylows… ideally also a vampire and a werewolf, life-sized. The school will purchase them at market price," she said, though she didn't seem particularly happy about it.

"Did sothing happen?" Wade asked.

"Sigh—"

Professor Abigail let out a long sigh and complained:

"Professor McGonagall told to stop just playing gas with students. She wants to teach more material relevant to the OWLs exam. According to the curriculum, you're supposed to be learning about magical creatures right now…"
