"Stupefy! Stupefy!"
A longhorn beetle, now the size of a small puppy, lazily wiggled its antennae. It watched as the thin red spell hit its body—only to bounce right off.
Clicking its mandibles, the beetle slowly chewed on a massive leaf.
Theo glared at it in frustration.
Among the mbers of the Umbrella House, aside from the older Fred and George, only Harry had mastered the Stunning Spell—he was even practicing the Patronus Charm already. The rest still struggled with the Stunning Spell.
As they learned more and more magic, the gap between them beca increasingly obvious.
Although they weren't exactly competing, falling behind still felt unpleasant. So, despite the piling howork after their third year, Theo and the others still made ti to practice spells.
At that mont, Wade was sorting through the latest issues of an Alchemy journal when—
Thud!
He turned around just in ti to see Hermione dropping her heavy school bag onto the table.
Michael whistled in disbelief.
"Hermione, just how much stuff do you have in there?"
"Not that much—just the things I need for class and so reference books for my howork."
She casually tied up her ssy hair, then pulled over a dozen books out of her bag, stacking them on the table. Only after that did she grab the topmost book and begin working on her assignnt.
Michael, still staring at the towering pile, muttered to Wade in a hushed tone:
"This is terrifying… is she planning to read all of those tonight?"
"She's just too diligent." Wade sighed. "She even takes detailed notes for Muggle Studies, even though she already knows everything Professor Burbage teaches."
Michael shuddered at the sight of those books.
Back when he figured out how Wade managed to take so many classes, he briefly regretted not choosing every elective—but right now, he felt nothing but relief.
anwhile, Wade noticed Hermione rubbing her shoulder after writing for a while.
Suddenly, he asked, "Hermione, is your bag really that heavy?"
"Huh? Of course, it is! She's practically carrying the entire library on her back." Michael quipped.
Hermione hesitated for a mont before asking, "Are you going to tell I don't need to bring all these books? But these are just the ones I need for today…"
"No, I an… uh… let see your bag for a second." Wade held out his hand.
Hermione, though puzzled, handed it over.
Wade lifted it slightly—
"rlin's beard!"
The bag weighed at least seven or eight pounds—and that was after she had already taken out a bunch of books.
He shook his head, realizing that he had completely forgotten sothing—
Hermione was only thirteen right now.
She hadn't learned the Undetectable Extension Charm yet.
When Wade first learned the Undetectable Extension Charm, he was worried that using it might break the law.
The Ministry of Magic has strict regulations: the charm is 'not' to be used for 'personal purposes'—it is only permitted for 'approved items' like travel tents or other officially sanctioned objects.
But over ti, Wade realized that most adult wizards he knew didn't take the Ministry's rules too seriously.
Take Mr. Scamander, for example—his magical suitcase was practically an entire world on its own. And even Arthur Weasley, a Ministry official, secretly expanded the space in his car.
When Lupin was dirt poor, he had a trunk that had been enchanted with the charm. Moody, Wade's neighbor, has one too. Sirius Black had recently even expanded the fuel tank and toolbox on his motorbike.
The first ti Wade saw Lupin pulling a drink out of his pocket, he realized that all their clothing pockets were far larger than normal—and suddenly, he found his own caution quite amusing.
In reality, the Ministry couldn't just search a wizard's belongings without solid evidence—at least, not when society is functioning normally. The latest_epɪ_sodes are on_the NoveI-Fire.ɴet
"Take everything out of your bag. I'll help lighten the load," Wade said.
"Oh! Okay!"
Hermione, guessing what he was about to do, beca excited and quickly emptied her bag. The others, noticing what was happening, gathered around.
"Wade, are you really going to use the Undetectable Extension Charm?" Theo asked, thrilled.
"Yeah," Wade replied. "But don't forget—it's against Ministry regulations. Don't go telling people."
"Got it! You don't even need to say that!" Everyone laughed and promised to keep it a secret.
Hearing this, Hermione hesitated for a mont. But as soon as Wade raised his wand, all her concerns vanished, and she focused on the spell along with the others.
A soft glow spread over the bag, and it flickered a few tis before gradually fading away.
Wade lowered his wand.
Michael, expecting sothing more dramatic, blinked in surprise. "Wait… that's it?"
"Of course," Wade said. "It's just a school bag. How complicated did you think it would be?"
"I don't know… I was expecting… sothing more..."
Michael muttered, then lifted the bag to test its weight before handing it back to Hermione.
"Hermione, try it out!"
"Alright."
Hermione swept everything from the table into her bag. But unlike before, when it was bulging and overstuffed, the bag remained flat, as if it only contained a few books.
She pulled the opening wider and peeked inside, making sure everything was still there. Then she lifted it and exclaid in surprise, "It's so light!"
"Really? Let try!"
Everyone reached out, eager to take turns holding the bag and feeling the difference.
"It feels like when we first started school, before we had so many books," Neville said sincerely.
"But isn't the Undetectable Extension Charm only supposed to expand space?"
Theo asked curiously, "My uncle has a bag like this, but when it's full, it's so heavy that it feels like he stuffed a whole Goyle inside. No one but him can lift it."
"That's what happens with an imperfect Extension Charm," Wade explained. "But when cast correctly, it's like storing everything in another dinsion—you barely feel the weight at all."
The bag was returned to Hermione, who hugged it happily, exclaiming:
"Now I can fit all my books in here! You have no idea how frustrating it is when the book you need isn't in your bag!"
Everyone: "..."
They couldn't really relate to that struggle.
Suddenly, Michael threw his arms around Wade, and dramatically pretended to sob:
"Wade, have rcy! Help too… I need a bag that doesn't break my back!"
Everyone was envious of Hermione's new bag, but Michael was the only one brave enough to say it out loud.
Wade laughed. "Empty out your bags. We'll do this one at a ti!"
A cheer erupted as everyone quickly dumped out their things, eager to get their own enchanted bag. anwhile, Hermione was enthusiastically stuffing even more notebooks from her bookshelf into hers.
Wade sighed, rubbing his forehead. "Hermione, don't treat your bag like it has infinite space. It's only about the size of a trunk."
Just then, the door of the Umbrella House suddenly swung open, and everyone turned to look.
A soaking-wet Harry stepped inside, with broom in hand and completely exhausted. He left a trail of muddy footprints behind him as he walked in.
