I woke up early and got dressed in my school uniform before leaving my room and walking down the stairs to the common room. My haki picked up the six older students already up and in the area as I walked. I wasn't surprised by this as these few were all early risers in the house. In much the sa vein they weren't surprised at all to see up so early either. We didn't interact though as most of the ti upper years didn't bother with lower years with only four exceptions. -
The first was when it ca to Quidditch since the team was comprised of players from both upper and lower years. The second was the prefects helping or getting on to the lower years for whatever reason. The third was if the lower year approached a senior student for help in so matter and as far as I have seen they rarely get it anyways. Finally was a personal dispute of so sort. I haven't seen this one yet but I did hear so stories from Mike and Terry during our als. For example there was a brother and sister who got sorted into Ravenclaw years apart.-
The brother was an seventh year and the sister a third year when the girl had a ssy break up with another student and ended up humiliated for it. The brother did as any good brother did and punished the ex-boyfriend, ca up with a whole new potion that left the boy disfigured until an antidote was created. The story was told regularly as a warning in the house to the new students. Personally I found this humorous since more or less Ravenclaw students were a cool headed bunch. -
Anyways I settled in on an armchair next to the animated kneazel skeleton that was grooming it's non existent fur with it's nonexistent tongue. I played around with a few minor spells while I waited for Terry and Mike to get up so we could head to breakfast and then charms together. None of the spells I was using were impressive or anything as I was just ssing around with the sparks and light spells to see if I could do anything interesting with them. For example with the sparks spell I was seeing if you could change the sparks from red and green to so other color using intent.-
As it turned out you could but it was a tad tricky as you had to be fully focused on whatever color you wanted to succeed. My favorite was making golden or silver sparks. -
"You have to add a second word to change the color of Lumos." An upper year comnted helpfully as I failed for the sixth ti to do it with pure intent.
"Why?" I asked curiously.
"Because white light is all of the colors of a rainbow. You have to specify which color or you get regular white light." He explained before demonstrating "Lumos Viridis."
As he had said by adding the specification to the spell it turned a bright green. I copied the modification to the spell and replicated the color change without any trouble at all. I noted that down in my head before also making a note to morize Latin in my free ti. Since most spells seed to use the language it would be a good idea to fully master it early so I could try and create new spells or modify preexisting ones. Thanks to my [linguist] skill I would also find it easier to learn new languages born from Latin or similar to it.-
I tested a few other colors before Mike finally ca into the common room rubbing his eyes.
"Bloody hell Alex. Do you even sleep?" he asked in disbelief.
"Built different rember?" I joked while offering a chocolate.
"More like built weird." he grumbled and snatched the sweet from .
"An to that." Terry says with a yawn as he too walks over.
"You're just jealous." I said with a chuckle.
"Damn right we are! I'd give my left hand not to feel like a slug when I wake up." Mike said wistfully.
We headed for the great hall after that and ate breakfast before hurrying to charms. The classroom was a decently sized space with desks all lined up neatly at the sides and a large stack of books at the end that from the books I knew Flitwick stood on to be at eye level with his students. I followed Mike and Terry's lead to grab a seat next to them as the others ca into the class. Malfoy and his two henchn glared at as they ca in but I ignored them like they weren't even there.-
His pathological need to live up to his fathers expectations and thus be better than anyone else wasn't my problem to deal with. I also wasn't concerned with whatever tricks he might pull since he didn't even know about my haki much less know how to avoid it. Flitwick or another professor doing so was understandable but definitely not Draco Malfoy, not now at least. Speaking of the good little professor he ca into the class as the bell rang and started the lesson.-
"Much like last ti we are practicing the light charm, Lumos, today as well as it's counterspell, Nox. Rember to properly enunciate the words and perform your wand movents precisely." he said cheerfully.
"Lumos." I said casually and created a bright light from my wand.
"Well done Alex! Five points to Ravenclaw!" the little professor said happily at the display.
