Just as the two boys were happily sharing stories about their sumr vacation, Hermione arrived with Ginny and hurriedly opened the compartnt door. "It's terrible! Ron and Harry aren't on the train. We searched every car and couldn't find them."
Behind them, Fred and George also hurried to the compartnt.
The twins, who were usually grinning from ear to ear, now wore serious expressions. Fred spoke first. "This is bad. I wonder if those two can make it to the opening ceremony and see Ginny's Sorting."
George wasn't worried. "I think it should be fine. Mum and Dad should have discovered by now that Ron and Harry didn't catch the train, and they might have already picked them up and are heading to Hogwarts now. They might even reach the school faster than us."
"That makes sense. Besides, there are Ministry officials stationed on the platform who can be asked for help. At worst, they could send Hedwig to deliver a letter and have professors pick them up. There are plenty of options, so they should make it." Fred's expression relaxed.
After hearing this, Hermione felt less anxious.
Fred and George sat on the bench, one on each side, winking at Ethan. "We invented so good stuff over the sumr. When we get to school, we'll let you test them out and see if they're worth continuing to develop."
"Don't just leave your prank inventions lying around the castle all the ti," Hermione said disapprovingly.
She didn't just disapprove of the rule-breaking behavior of leaving joke products everywhere. She also felt the twins clearly had great talent in alchemy but only wanted to develop joke props, which was a waste of their potential.
"Don't bla the innocent. It's not us leaving them around." "It's the other little students who got our products that are leaving them around." The twins sang in unison.
"Since you're all here, I have so things to give you." Ethan took out his small bag and pulled out two basic notebooks from the collection Nicolas Flal had given him, which Cyril had sorted.
"I visited Nicolas Flal over the sumr, and he gave these alchemy notes, asking to help him find so heirs," he explained, facing their confused expressions.
"Geminio." Ethan duplicated the notes, creating three copies and handing one to each of them.
"The originals stay with . You guys take the copies and get them copied down quickly. If you haven't finished when the duplicates disappear, co see and I'll make another copy for you."
He put the two notebooks back into his bag and took out a thick dictionary and a complete set of textbooks.
"Also, there's one small problem. These notes are all written in French, so you might not understand them. I'll duplicate so French textbooks and dictionaries for you to study."
Three thick stacks of books appeared on the floor, but the three had no attention to spare for them at the mont.
They flipped through the two notebooks in their hands and asked, shocked, "These are really handwritten by Nicolas Flal himself?"
"Absolutely true."
"If you had told earlier you had his notes, I wouldn't have gone to the countryside," Hermione said, looking at the notes in her hand.
"I didn't expect you to leave for the countryside so suddenly."
After returning to Britain, Ethan had placed the books he brought back from France, including the one titled "How to Create the Sorcerer's Stone," inside the bag Nicolas had given him, keeping them all at Shafiq Manor.
The notes he had just taken out were ones he had confird were safe to share.
"We're loving you more and more, dear boss." Fred and George pressed exaggerated kisses to the notes in their hands.
Only Neville and Ginny did not know who Nicolas Flal was, and listened with confused expressions.
Ethan smiled and said, "Co on, just don't spread this around for now."
"Mm." The three nodded emphatically.
Fred and George carried two thick stacks of French textbooks and dictionaries, with two notebooks tucked in their pockets, and left the carriage.
"Ethan, that Nicolas Flal you guys were talking about just now, is he the one ntioned on Dumbledore's Chocolate Frog card?" Neville asked.
"Yes, that's him."
Neville exclaid, "It really is him! The world's only creator of the Sorcerer's Stone, the legendary alchemist who has lived for hundreds of years."
Hermione said regretfully, "That's right, but after destroying the Sorcerer's Stone, they should be nearing the end of their lives."
Last sester, after protecting the Sorcerer's Stone, they'd heard from Harry that Dumbledore had told him Nicolas decided to destroy it.
"That's right. That's why Nicolas gave his alchemy notes, so I could find soone to inherit his legacy." Ethan nodded.
Ginny, standing nearby, finally understood. They were talking about an alchemist who had lived for a very long ti.
She wasn't entirely unfamiliar with alchemy. After all, Fred and George often studied it at ho and hid nothing from their only sister.
So after hearing the simple explanations Neville and Hermione gave her, she understood the significance of the na Nicolas Flal, and why the three of them had been so serious a mont ago. This was the legacy of the greatest alchemist from the Middle Ages to the present day.
The compartnt fell silent. Hermione busied herself with the notes and a French dictionary, while Ethan took out a book he hadn't finished over the vacation, with Lockhart's brilliant smile on the cover.
Seeing the two of them so studious, Neville and Ginny each took out a book as well.
After a while, a loud clattering sound ca from the corridor. The familiar woman with a kind smile and dimples pushed open the compartnt door. "Dears, would you like to buy sothing from the trolley?"
"What would you like to eat?" Ethan closed his book face down and walked to the compartnt door.
"I'll have a pumpkin pasty and a Chocolate Frog." Hermione didn't even look up.
"I-I'll get it myself." Neville stood up and walked over to her. "I'll have so Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans and a Cauldron Cake."
"What about you, Ginny?" Ethan asked the red-haired girl.
The girl's face was red, her ears flushed too. She said softly, "I don't need anything. Mum packed sandwiches."
"I understand."
He turned his head. "Two more pumpkin pasties, one Chocolate Frog, one Licorice Wand, and a bag of Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans. Put it on the sa bill as the young lady's."
Soon, the trolley witch handed him everything he'd requested and made change for his Galleon.
"Try it. See how different Hogwarts Express pumpkin pasties are from the ones you're used to?" Ethan took two pumpkin pasties, giving one to Hermione and one to Ginny.
He also shared so of the Chocolate Frog, Licorice Wand, and Every Flavour Beans with Ginny. Of course, he didn't forget Neville, sharing so of the Wand and Chocolate Frog that he hadn't bought.
Ginny's face flushed with shyness as she thanked him and accepted the snacks he handed her, taking out her own sandwiches to share.
Ethan tasted a sandwich and gave a thumbs-up. "Not bad. Your mum's cooking is great. Don't be so nervous. During the vacation, Ron even invited to visit your house, but I was in France at the ti and didn't have ti, so I had to decline."
Seeing Ginny, who kept her head down and ate silently, Ethan gestured for Hermione to comfort her and ease her nerves.
Hermione understood, and after swallowing the food in her mouth, she whispered sothing in Ginny's ear that he couldn't quite hear, making Ginny nod from ti to ti.
The compartnt quickly returned to silence. The four of them held their books and read. Occasionally, soone would take out an Every Flavour Bean and pop it into their mouth, making sounds of pain or delight.
"All right, it's almost ti. Let's change into our robes." After finishing "Travels with Ghouls," the book in his hand, Ethan looked out the window at the sky.
"Yes, we're almost at the school." Hermione put down her book.
The four of them took turns changing into their robes in the compartnt and waited quietly for the train to arrive.
Then Ginny suddenly asked nervously, "Will the Sorting really hurt us that badly? Fred and George said that after the Sorting ceremony, all the new students spend a week in the hospital before starting classes."
"No, it's not that dangerous. Those two are pulling your leg." Ethan shook his head, but before Ginny could relax, he continued.
"At most, you'll only spend a day there. Our school healer, Madam Pomfrey, is very skilled."
Ginny's heart leaped into her throat. Her throat went dry, her voice hoarse. "R-really?"
"He's teasing you. The Sorting ceremony is great fun. Don't be afraid, there's no danger. To keep it a surprise, I won't reveal the specifics just yet." Hermione quickly patted her shoulder.
"Is that so?" Ginny stole a glance at Neville, who nodded, and felt relieved.
A familiar voice echoed through the train. "We will be arriving at Hogwarts in five minutes' ti. Please leave your luggage on the train, which will be taken to the school separately."
Five minutes passed quickly. The four of them followed the others off the train and onto a small, dark platform.
Hagrid was still there to greet the first years, shouting loudly. "First years, this way!"
"All right, Ginny, we should split up. You go with Hagrid. He'll take you to the Great Hall for the Sorting." Hermione cast a Warming Charm on her clothes to ward off the chilly night wind.
"Mm." The red-haired girl walked dazedly toward Hagrid with the group of new students.
"Let's go too." The three of them followed the other returning students, walking up a poorly maintained road.
At the end of the road, over one hundred carriages awaited them.
"What fierce yet beautiful creatures." After witnessing Lup's death during the sumr, Ethan could clearly see the true form of the Thestrals.
He walked up to an empty carriage and patted its skeletal body.
This Thestral lowered its head slightly and nuzzled his hand.
"You can see them too?" Neville asked softly.
"Yes. I experienced so things over the sumr. Let's get in."
"What are you doing?" Hermione, who could not see the Thestrals, had already climbed into the carriage.
Ethan reached out to pull Neville up. "Nothing, just looking at the Thestrals pulling the carriages."
"Alright." Hermione already knew what kind of people could see Thestrals, and also knew that seeing such creatures wasn't worth showing off.
