Again, it was Reinhart leading the charge. Two out of eight of his group were already dead, and now only six remained.

Reinhart, followed closely by his comrades, stepped toward the room. In his conviction that Edmund and Alia were trapped inside, he and his friend failed to notice the faint, subtle presence of soone hiding behind a pillar at the far end of the corridor.

It was Alia Bones. She was there, pressed against the cold stone, her breath uneven. She was nervous and slight anxious.

To be honest, she had been serving as an Auror for a couple of years and had seen her fair share of corpses, blood, gore, and organs split open of people by Death Eater's cruelty. She had even duelled and captured a few criminals herself and was considered a rising talent in the ministry. But she had never taken a life. Today would be her first.

Antonio had suggested an alternative plan, where she would take Edmund's place and lure the attackers into the room. But even then, she might have been forced to kill one or two of them inside. And once it ca to that, there would be no choice, no room for hesitation. Inside the room, they could not have afforded any hesitation. The space for manoeuvrability would be very limited.

Though Antonio had his plan, Alia knew her father would not remain idle in the room. Edmund was a finer wizard than her and could prove a lot more helpful to Antonio.

And she herself could not hide forever. At so point, she had to find the courage. These were not random innocents. They were Death Eaters. Low lives who had invaded her ho was what Antonio had said.

She took a deep breath and peeked from behind the pillar. The last Death Eater had turned toward the room, close to the pillar where Edmund had been hiding. Their caution slowed their steps, giving her ample ti.

She could have killed him outright, blown his head apart or split him down the middle. But she did not need to. Antonio had already prepared the spell. All she had to do was trigger it.

Five of the six Death Eaters had stepped inside the room. The last was just about to follow when Alia exhaled, raised her wand, and unleashed a pulse of magic. It struck the pillar.

There was a ripple and then sharp stone cones burst out from every side of it, extending outward in a deadly bloom.

The last Death Eater had barely taken his next step when his body was skewered. A dozen spikes pierced through his flesh, legs, torso, skull. He struggled for only a mont before his body went limp, hanging grotesquely from the stone. Blood pooled beneath him as silence reclaid the corridor.

Reinhart Lestrange had stepped a couple of paces inside the room. It was fairly large and spacious. The room was clouded in darkness with only a single candle burning in the candlestick placed at the centre of the room. It was most probably the chamber of the lord of the house.

His movents were slow and deliberate, another trap could be waiting for them. Though his eyes scanned the room, he did not advance further. It was hard to see anything. But he would very easily able to spot the flash if a spell was fired towards them.

He waited for his comrades to enter and close in around him. One by one they too stepped inside, until five of them stood together. Only the last one remained outside.

Reinhart was preparing to use a lumos to brighten the room when he suddenly felt the magical ripple of a spell being activated.

His instincts flared. But the attack did not co towards him.

A low scream and gurgle broke out behind. He spun around just in ti to see their last comrade skewered in a grotesque manner, impaled by spikes that had erupted from the pillar.

This ti even Reinhart's heart clenched in fear. He knew then. They were fucked. Even if he killed Edmund Bones, the dark lord was not going to be pleased.

"There is soone else in the house," one of the Death Eaters muttered, his voice trembling. If Edmund and his daughter were inside the room, then a third hand must have been needed to activate that spell.

And so, they froze. Not a single step forward, not a single step back. Their breaths quickened. They had no idea from which direction death would strike next.

Reinhart's mind raced. The third person, was it Edmund's son? No. He should still be at Hogwarts. Then who? All of this had unfolded in just a mont.

Reinhart was still contemplating his next move when there was a sudden flash of red. He ducked, but his companion was not so lucky. The cutting curse struck him squarely, splitting his body clean in two. The surrounding Death Eaters stumbled back in horror as the two halves of the corpse hit the ground with heavy thuds, blood and organs spilling across the floor.

"At the closet!" Reinhart shouted. His focus was fixed not on the corpse, but on the place from where the spell had erupted.

A spell shot from his wand, and his three remaining comrades, snapping out of their shocked state, sent three more spells to follow behind Reinhart's. All four blasts hurtled toward the closet.

To their horror, a ripple of magic shimred through the air, and a green hued shield materialized, blocking every strike with ease.

The shield had not been cast from inside the closet but from beside it. Reinhart's eyes darted instinctively toward the spot, searching, when suddenly a brownish spell streaked toward them. Its speed was terrifying, far too fast for them to react.

It struck another Death Eater. Instantly, his entire body blackened and charred as though consud by so horrific toxin. He scread in unbearable agony before collapsing, a burnt husk on the floor. The death eaters were terrified beyond asure. Half of the group which had tried to invade the Bones manor had been killed. And one person responsible for it all. The one person whom they recognised very well was standing in front of them. Antonio Olario.
