Seeing Austin’s happy expression, Aldren was short of words and could only grin back as he made a ntal note to thank the human properly once the battle was over.
anwhile, Austin drank his own potion too, because he had sustained a lot of cuts and bruises from these horrible goblins.
Now he could see why Legolas had been reluctant to fight against these vermin.
Not only were they annoying to fight against, they were also really fast and dangerous.
And so, he swiftly gulped down the potion in his hand and it instantly began to take effect, healing his body from all his wounds and cuts.
Initially, Austin had only brewed five of this type of potion, and so far he had given one each to Nora, Legolas, and Aldren.
He had used one himself as well, making that four, which ant he was left with only one remaining vial. He pondered on whether he should give it to one of the more severely wounded elves in the group or save it for himself.
But since he was still unsure of what might happen later, Austin decided to hold on to it for now.
After all, that particular elf was still holding two 5% impurity-free healing potions, so he would have to make do with those for now.
And so, Austin swiftly redirected his attention back to the fight.
The battle continued even more fiercely than before, as Austin recreated his large mana hands and used them to grab goblins, lift them high into the air, and slam them hard against the stone walls.
The sound of breaking bones and dying screams instantly filled the chamber as Austin crushed several goblin skulls with his powerful mana fists.
Green blood sprayed across the floor, but more goblins kept charging straight at him.
On a separate spot from where Austin currently was, Legolas could be seen still laughing like a maniac as he slaughtered goblins with his wind fists.
Aldren also moved like a boulder, thanks to his Rock Bear beast soul ability.
Thanks to that ability, Aldren’s body had beco extrely heavy and solid.
Now every swing of his sword cut through multiple goblins, while the other injured guards tried their best to provide support from behind with their bows, though many of them could barely stand.
Seeing all of this happening before them, the goblins slowly began to realise sothing important.
Austin, Aldren, and Legolas were not normal opponents at all.
These three were killing their kind too quickly and too easily.
This caused the remaining goblins to begin panicking, and many started retreating and running toward any dark corners and small holes in the cave walls to hide.
So even dropped their spiked clubs and tried to escape deeper into the underground chamber, but soone wasn’t going to let them do that.
"Stop running, you cowards!" Legolas scread loudly as a vein popped out on his forehead in rage.
He hated goblins to the core and wanted to chase after them and kill every last one, so he instantly did just that.
However, Aldren called out to him.
"Legolas! Let them go for now! Our priority right now is to get the injured guards out safely! We’ll handle the remaining goblins later."
For a whole year, these goblins had been under their scouts’ radar, which was why they had procreated to such numbers and why many had grown so strong as well.
But now that his guards were severely injured, Aldren felt it was the best ti to retreat.
He could only wonder why his reinforcents hadn’t arrived yet.
Anyways, Legolas stopped chasing after the goblins with a sigh.
Then he nodded and rushed back to join Aldren and Austin.
The three of them quickly moved to help the wounded elves, picking up the injured guards and carrying them toward the exit.
Many of the guards had deep cuts, broken bones, and bite wounds, with so even bleeding heavily.
This was why Aldren had made it a priority to get them back to the outpost.
But while they made their way back to the cave entrance, everyone suddenly heard heavy footsteps coming from the direction they had entered earlier.
Hearing this, Aldren’s face brightened for a short mont as he said. "Finally, the reinforcents have arrived."
But his expression instantly changed completely when he saw what had actually appeared.
There were a dozen hobgoblins walking into the giant underground chamber.
These creatures were much bigger and stronger than the normal goblins.
Each one stood almost as tall as Austin’s chest.
Their skin was a darker green and much thicker than that of the regular goblins.
Their muscles were big and powerful too.
They each carried large crude weapons like heavy spiked clubs, axes, and thick spears, while so of them dragged injured or dead elves behind them by the legs.
The bodies left long bloody trails across the cave floor, and the hobgoblins grinned with ugly sharp teeth and red eyes the mont they spotted Austin, Legolas, and Aldren trying to leave the cave.
The dead and injured elves being dragged by the hobgoblins were the very reinforcents Aldren had been counting on, but now each of them had been left injured or dead.
Realising this, everyone instantly assud their battle stances.
Leaving the cave was going to be a lot harder now, and the only way out was by getting rid of these hobgoblins.
And so, a new round of fighting began.
One big hobgoblin instantly swung a massive spiked club at Aldren.
Commander Aldren blocked it with his sword, but the strong force pushed him back several steps.
The impact made his arms shake a little, but he swiftly shook it off.
anwhile, another hobgoblin threw a heavy axe at Legolas, but he dodged it at the last second and countered with a powerful wind fist.
The hobgoblin only staggered a little instead of falling down, then roared angrily and charged forward.
Now, Austin created his two large mana hands, making them a little bigger than the ones he had been using, and tried to crush the nearest hobgoblin.
But the creature was very tough.
It roared loudly and broke free from the mana grip with raw strength.
Then it charged straight at Austin and smashed him hard against the cave wall.
Austin felt pain shoot through his body, causing him to cough up blood.
The fighting continued, and for a long ti the hobgoblins seed to be winning.
They were stronger, tougher, and better at fighting together.
They had been fighting in this forest together for years, growing, adapting, and surviving, so they had a really good chemistry with each other, and they exploited that to overwhelm Austin and his group.
Had they not gone out hunting earlier, they probably would have been at the cave when Aldren and his n had first entered.
Anyways, the hobgoblins surrounded the small group and attacked from all sides at once, causing one injured guard who was already on the ground to get his head smashed open by a spiked club.
Another guard lost his entire arm in one brutal swing, and blood flew everywhere across the chamber floor.
Austin, Aldren, and Legolas were all breathing very hard, their clothes and bodies completely covered in thick goblin blood mixed with their own.
The ground felt slippery under their feet.
The hobgoblins laughed and roared as they pressed their attack, intent on crushing the remaining fighters.
But Austin, Aldren, and Legolas refused to give up.
Austin focused harder than before and created even bigger and stronger mana hands, using them like giant hamrs.
He smashed one hobgoblin’s head straight into the ground and kept pressing until the creature stopped moving completely.
anwhile, Legolas kept launching powerful wind fists nonstop, targeting the hobgoblins’ knees and heads, trying to break their balance.
And Aldren used his heavy Rock Bear strength to tackle one hobgoblin to the ground, stabbing it repeatedly with his sword until it died.
Even his bare fists could easily pierce through the bodies of these hobgoblins, and he used that to his great advantage.
Now, slowly and with great effort, they began to turn the tide of the battle.
One by one, the powerful hobgoblins started to fall.
Their roars beca weaker, and the last few tried to run away, but Austin’s mana hands caught them in the air and slamd them hard against each other.
Their bodies dropped lifelessly to the ground.
The underground chamber had finally gone quiet again, except for the heavy breathing of the three fighters.
Blood and dead bodies covered almost every part of the floor, but Legolas looked around the chamber and saw Austin a bit farther away, finishing off the last remaining goblin with a powerful mana strike.
Legolas couldn’t hold back his excitent as he smiled widely and called out loudly.
"Austin! Thank you, my friend! Because of you, I was able to fight and win today!"
Austin smiled back and opened his mouth to reply.
But before any words could co out, the ground suddenly began to tremble violently.
The entire cave shook, with small rocks and dust falling from the ceiling.
Everyone instantly tried to steady themselves on the slippery, blood-soaked floor.
But before anyone could understand what was happening, a huge monstrous creature burst out of the ground with terrifying speed.
It looked like a giant worm with thick hardened segnts and a massive circular mouth full of rows upon rows of sharp teeth.
It resembled a Mongolian death worm, but even larger and fatter.
The creature shot upward before swallowing Austin whole, along with several dead goblins around him.
It flew high into the air near the glowing mana crystal, then twisted its massive body and dived straight back down toward the ground at a speed so great that it was difficult for anyone to register what had happened.
But the mont they did, Legolas scread at the top of his voice as the giant worm disappeared back into the ground, whilst taking Austin along with it.
"AUSTIN!!!!"
