" Kim? What are you-"

" Can I at least co in?" Kim cut him off.

" Kim ,this is not a good ti"

Without waiting for him to speak she barged into the executive suite.

Reynolds sighed.

He didn’t have ti for this.

" Can you just give a chance to talk ,at least please?" Her voice grew soft, tears visible on her face.

Reynolds felt surprisingly heartbroken seeing her like this .

His figure flashed .

The next second he stood before her with a tissue.

" Can you not cry?" His voice was masculine ,yet vulnerable.

" W-hy ,why should I not cry? What do you care?"

Kim’s voice was choky. Nevertheless she grabbed the tissue , wiping her eyes.

Reynolds sighed.

" It’s not like I don’t care, I just don’t know if I can trust you again . Not after -"

" Not after I broke your heart right?"

Kim slumped into the nearest arm chair, sighing deeply.

She stared at Reynolds sitting at the far end on the bed softly, pained,obvious from his gaze as though he was recalling sothing from the past.

Then she layered further " Do you know why I haven’t given up on us?. I realize I was young and stupid and naive. But I’m willing to change . I’m willing to make ands ,I even wish I could go back in in ti and undo what I did but I can’t. I just wish you could give a chance Rey, to prove to you that I can make a difference this ti!"

Reynolds stared at her silently for a while, two emotions, pain, hesitation mostly dominant , in his eyes.

He stood up from the bed, then walked calmly towards her.

He sat on the opposite arm chair close to her, then said softly,yet peircingly.

" Do you rember how I begged you back then not to end things with ?. How I even toned down my training and started spending more ti with you a month before you ended things with ? How I even refused to participate in the mission that led to the death of my father because I wanted to spend more ti with you?"

Kim remained silent with guilt visible in her eyes.

"The last words my old man said to was that he was disappointed in ,because being elected for the mission one of the quickest ways to show my prowess on the battlefield and earn a na for myself,however I threw away that opportunity . After that he left to Antartica to fight diabolic beasts and never returned ,only for his corpse to be discovered below sea level a month later after a grueso search by federation archeologists.

I made the decision to spend more ti with you by refusing to embark on the mission with him! How naive I was!

The president of the United Federation was breaking down. He had kept it all bottled up. When Kim ended things with him, he never said a word after he begged her and she insisted she had made her decision.

These were words he thought he would never say to her again. Yet here he was, voicing them as he felt a weight being lifted from his chest.

" I left you because I felt guilty!. I felt guilty that because of my stupidity ,your father died on bad terms with you!. I was so ashad of myself Rey!. I didn’t deserve you!. Not after what I did.Not after all the pain I caused you!" Kim said as she started pacing around in the room.

"I was demanding all the ti for attention because I was insecure and thought you were spending ti with soone else. My friends were spreading rumors about you, and I ,and I was stupid enough to not consult you whether or not they were true. I thought if I got you to spend more ti with I would be able to prove them wrong that you were not cheating on " Kim was sobbing as she spoke.

Reynolds chuckled in lancholy " How absurd. This was the reason why you were behaving like that? Because of so baseless rumors spread by so jealous friends who didn’t want us to be together? You should see yourself out of my room"

" No please at least let finish Rey. Please I beg you, If I’m done and you don’t want to see my face again I’ll leave . I promise " Kim was kneeling at this point,tears streaming down her face .

Reynolds felt sincerely pained seeing her like this.

He sighed,not saying another word,an indication that she could proceed .

She continued "I was young and naive Rey. Yet when you started spending more ti with , the feeling of the possibility of you cheating on still didn’t subside, it remained. I realized I had trust issues Rey.It was never about the things my friends said or getting you to spend more ti with to prove a point to anyone. It was about my trust issues ,and I had to deal with them.
