Why were societies such a big deal on campus?

It was because of the advantages they held.

A general benefit of joining a society was the fact that one would be able to participate in academy missions at a considerable discount.

The amount of student credits one would pay for being a mber of a society would be reduced when taking on an academy mission.

Another benefit of being a part of a society is what is referred to as "shared credits."

This principle existed for when society mbers completed missions or even racked up special achievents.

A considerable quarter of the student credits they achieved for special achievents and missions completed would be calculated by the Academy AI and shared with the society mbers.

The president and leadership of the society would also receive a higher calculated portion of the student credits earned by society mbers who completed missions or had special achievents .

Also, let’s establish that like alchemical elixirs, weapons, rune artifacts, etc., being a mber of a society did not an that one could utilize society training resources for free, an ironclad academy rule-everything had to be earned with student credits.

However, societies usually toned down the amount of student credits for utilizing society resources to ensure that the society mbers had smooth resources for cultivation.

After all, the stronger the mbers, the higher the chances of succeeding in missions, and the greater the benefits for the society.

Societies were also important because of connections.

Most of the societies on campus were ford by scions of influential powers in the empire.

Especially for those with no prominent background, joining societies was an opportunity to secure a firm background, especially after graduation.

If individuals could perform outstanding feats for their society, the scions of the influential parties who mostly acted as leaders of the societies would recomnd them to their actual families/clans and organisations for them to officially join their ranks during vacations and especially after school.

Societies on the Astral Empire Academy could be deed a very indirect, yet potent way for influential parties in the Empire to recruit talented youngsters into their ranks.

These were so of the benefits of belonging to a society, amongst others.

However, Everlong Atrexia had joined the Sword Tribunal Society because of none of these reasons.

Forget about the other reasons, even considering the latter listed above, the Sword Tribunal Society did not even have a real stakehold in the empire outside the academy.

Also, she already belonged to one of the most powerful backgrounds in the empire, whose society was on campus, where she could even secure a high position if she joined.

There was therefore no need to join another society.

Yet, here she was.

Currently listening to the blatant, unusual speech of Kailen Darkhaven—just because her brother had requested her to join the Sword Tribunal Society.

His reason, simple:

"I don’t want father to call us good-for-nothings who failed to grasp an opportunity to befriend a future hegemon of the empire."

Well, she had her freedom to reject his offer.

But she had nothing to lose for joining the Sword Tribunal Society.

If her brother deed that her joining the Sword Tribunal Society would be a way to get their talkative father off their page in the future about missing a chance to befriend Kailen, sure, why not.

After all, she had been aning to have a social connection to the fellow in the first place.

But what was the expression on her brother’s face when he made the request?

Why did he wink at her?

What kind of dirty thoughts was this brother of hers having at the ti?

Ah, nevermind.

There was no downside of being a mber of this society, except that the notorious president before them had a knack for offending almost every society on campus—which honestly, was strangely refreshing to her.

It seed academy life wouldn’t be so boring, she thought.

Also, she could get alchemical products of extrely high quality she wouldn’t find anywhere in the academy as long as she was part of this society.

Everlong turned to look at Ashton, completely uninterested in the speech the president was giving.

"Bastard also joined the society to spite his sister huh. How amusing," she thought, as her gaze snapped from Ashton, currently yawning, to Kailen.

Fortunately for them, the speech was very short, after which the president showed them around, several individuals’ mouths hanging wide open after seeing the over-the-top training facilities in the society.

Several individuals were wondering how the president and vice president could afford these resources, until they suddenly rembered that the duo were monsters who had racked up student credits like crazy, especially the president.

After that, votes were held by the mbership to determine several positions of the society.

These positions included Chief Runesmith, Secretary, Financial Secretary, Chief Healer, and Chief Blacksmith.

As for the position of Chief Alchemist, the society had decided to hand it over to Kailen, yet he opted for soone else.

After all, Kailen was still president and could interfere in the actions of every departnt.

After votes were cast by society mbers:

The Chief Runesmith was Anaya, Lian Yu’s girlfriend—rmaid (who at the mont had donned a human form).

The Secretary was Everlong Atrexia—Elf.

The Chief Alchemist was Pan Halfoy—Witch.

The Chief Healer was a first-year student—Miranda Morrigan (first ranked beauty of the first years, and a female werewolf).

The Chief Blacksmith was Esimo Ashton—Titan, who at the mont didn’t even know anything about blacksmithing, solely chosen because his family dealt strongly in weapons, and they were known to have an inherent capability for blacksmithing.

Plus, there was no blacksmith in the society.

So he was all they had.

Everlong patted his back with a mocking expression on her face.

The fellow sighed, regretting his decision to join the society.

It seed that from today, he had to take blacksmithing classes.

It wasn’t that he had no talent in the area, he simply saw it as too ti-demanding—a distraction to what he wanted to pursue—combat.

However, it seed he had to learn to combine both.

After all, life had just flipped him the middle finger.

"Fuck," Esimo sighed as he lanted cursively, his expression a source of entertainnt for most society mbers, especially his childhood friend, Everlong.
