In a large conference room, several individuals—vimodial contractors—could be seen seated across a large table.

Each of them had profound temperants. However, they bore gazes of respect towards a particular striking individual seated at the edge of the table.

The figure was a female, an elf.

"Slycer, how are the preparations going?" she asked, gaze directed towards one particular individual.

All eyes in the room landed on the fellow, eager for a response.

Slycer was calm. He had executed his orders well. There was no need to be nervous. He replied,

"Lord Salarsa, everything is under perfect control." He furthered, "The plan is proceeding smoothly. The teleportation gates we are constructing will be able to lead us directly into the heart of Atlantis imdiately."

Lord Salarsa, the female elf, responded, "Good. I hope our runesmiths are working covertly in Atlantis, and they won’t be discovered. This plan depends on their ability to blend in as normal Atlantis citizens until they finish building the teleportation gates."

Slycer replied, "Yes, Lord."

"Good," Lord Salarsa said. "Striking Atlantis will be a great step we will take towards invading enemy territory. Those fuckers don’t know what’s coming for them. Also..." Her gaze swept across everyone in the hall. "Everyone should make sure to fully cooperate when the ti to strike cos. Else, the consequences will be dire—for not just , but for all of us."

Everyone trembled at her words. Not from surprise, but from affirmation. They could not afford to fail. Their superiors were not the kind to give second chances. At the sa ti, if they held back in enemy territory, would their enemies show them rcy?

The beauty of daylight contrasted sharply with what was happening at the mont.

Alarms blared all over, and the sound of cataclysmic battles shook the air.

HQ base 323 was under attack.

Vimodial contractors and operatives from the base clashed against one another. Enemies went all out.

Various affinities and attacks shook the place as chaos raged throughout. The ground shook, the void trembled. Water spears, earth spikes and boulders, wood scythes, and more streaked across, clashing with terrifying lethality.

Heads flew, legs were severed, innards spilled, blood splattered. Operatives had their life force drained at an alarming pace. Vimodial contractors were killed rcilessly by operatives, screaming madly at the top of their voices. There was only one word for what was happening: carnage.

Where buildings had previously stood, rubble buried corpses of vimodial contractors and base operatives alike.

An operative launched a water lance toward a vimodial contractor. The enemy fired a beam of searing magma at the sa target.

Similar occurrences happened all over the base.

At various points, the silhouettes of ginormous beasts blanketed the skies. They were vimodial-contracted beasts. This was not surprising. Beasts were extrely intelligent, fully sentient from the ascendant level upward. They t the requirents for a contract with a vimodial.

Each step they took sent screams of awakeners being flattened into at paste resounding across the battlefield. Affinity attacks blasted from their mouths, streaking below and turning operatives into ashes.

Sowhere in the skies, Colonel Floyd Harker stood tall, vigilant. He had been redeployed to this base just two weeks ago after Boro was sent to the Shattered Sector, and the Colonel in charge of this base had been sent to another HQ to replace another redeployed Colonel.

To think his misfortune would be this paramount: an unexpected invasion.

He cursed, "Fuck."

But he was not a Colonel for no reason.

This attack may have been unexpected, but he did not lose his calm.

He stared at the figure staring back at him.

A rank 7 interdiate-stage galactic-level. The vimodial contractor was at the sa rank as himself.

"Hi. I’m Fred. Nice eting you, Colonel," the vimodial contractor said. His gaze, frosty, betrayed the grin on his lips. He was the one in charge of this invasion.

A human vimodial contractor.

Fred’s figure blood with lightning. A lightning spear appeared in his hand. The smirk remained, but his eyes were ruthless.

Floyd was not idle either. His figure blazed with wind that made his clothes flutter. The wind coalesced into a mini whirlwind around him. A gauntlet, shining with iridescent runes, appeared around his hands. A whirlpool of wind gathered around the gauntlet. His eyes were calm and ruthless.

The two figures flashed at the sa ti and appeared before the other.

The spear flickered with lightning, and the gauntlet breathed a whirlpool of wind toward it, clashing violently. The void shook, and a large cataclysmic sound spread everywhere.

Sowhere at the base—now a battlefield—two figures stood side by side, exhausted.

One was a tall bunny demihuman; the other, a human male with velvet hair. The bunny demihuman held a trident, the human held a sword. Their weapons dripped with the fresh blood of their enemies.

Two corpses of vimodial contractors lay at their feet.

"I can’t believe your plan actually worked, Lawrence."

Arnold couldn’t help but give Lawrence a thumbs-up.

The duo scanned the battlefield. Several wounded were being tended by their healer. Although many corpses of vimodial contractors littered the ground, it was a testant to the difficulty of their victory.

Arnold sighed.

Thank goodness they had a competent healer in their unit—and a competent strategist, Lawrence—else they might not have survived.

"Sergeants, what do we do next?"

The healer of their unit asked. Lawrence and Arnold were the sergeants, the leaders of the unit.

"We fight. We utilize the sa tactics we have been using. However..."

Arnold added, "We first find a place to briefly recuperate, for the sake of everyone—especially those who are wounded." Arnold groaned. His wounds were naturally recovering via his universe energy, but he might pass out before the healer accelerated the process.

Lawrence coughed a mouthful of blood and nodded at Arnold’s addition. The unit mbers grimaced in pain as they sought shelter to recover.

"I hope reinforcents arrive very soon," Lawrence grimaced.

"Yeah," the unit mbers, including Arnold, sighed.

No one knew how long the battle between the Colonel and the powerhouse vimodial contractor would last, or who would erge victorious.

But until the outco was decided, they knew reinforcents had to arrive—or none of them would live long enough.
