He Became A Monstrous Genius After Obtaining A Time Dilation Artifact Chapter 540. First ranking battle 1
The combat ranking battles began.
Several low ranked students were gruesoly crushed and killed for biting more than they could chew.
Others displayed shocking might, killing and replacing higher ranked students, securing promising ntors for themselves.
As for the students sitting at the highest rankings, they were simply untouchable. No one even dared to challenge them.
One strange thing was, there were so lower ranked students no one dared to challenge.
It was not because they were too strong. From the whispers Kailen heard amongst the students and even the discussions of the ntors, it was because they were deeply connected to so of the students sitting at the highest rankings. Anyone with a brain and the mindset of survival knew that challenging one would be akin to challenging the authority of these hegemon ranked students. And that would an a set up for suicide.
Kailen noted this.
He didn’t really need a ntor in his opinion. His comprehension of the law of space was quite unnatural. He was not being proud. It was simply the truth. He knew he was a fast learner, intelligent even, but he attributed this unsettling comprehension of the law of space to the Ti Dilation Artifact. He just knew she was behind it.
He had perfected the use of the law of space. The only weakness he had was his awakener rank was quite low, and therefore the effect of his law power was quiet weak, in his opinion.
But the point was, the only advantage ntors could give him, which was guiding a student through the use of their laws, the key advantage of securing a higher ranking in the ranking battles, was not important to him.
Why then, would he go out of his way to challenge low ranked students connected to those students sitting at the highest rankings and get himself killed?
At this mont, Kailen didn’t know that even if he didn’t go looking for trouble, trouble would co looking for him.
"Lowest ranked student Kailen Darkhaven. It’s ti for your ranking battle," a chanical voice reverberated throughout the stadium.
It was the voice of an AI bot.
At this mont, several murmurs erged.
So who had noticed Kailen and were aware of his feats since he arrived in the academy, including the recent completion of the Orca Planetary district mission of the Berhot Empire, watched him with curiosity as his figure flashed towards the combat arena. Others simply didn’t know who he was and ignored him. The academy was too large for everyone to know about a single student.
As for the ntors, they sighed. They really couldn’t ntor this student? The principal and vice principal had really screwed them over.
Naturally, they were aware of Kailen’s monstrous feats. ntors signed rune oaths that did not permit them to intervene in student affairs, and also go target and harm students inside and outside the academy. Of course, if students targeted ntors, ntors were allowed to directly retaliate. ntors would not use "a student tried to kill so I want to kill them too" as a loophole and an excuse to harm students in and outside the academy when a student has not really done sothing like that, because the rune oaths scrutinized and covered all those situations.
A ntor tried so nonsense like that in the past and died horribly because of the rune oath. He exploded to death. After that, no ntor had dared to try similar nonsense. A student also tried to kill a ntor in the past and they were slaughtered by the ntor and hung on a bridge. The ntor didn’t die. They didn’t break the rules of the rune oath.
So unless students really had a few screws loose in the head and went actually looking for trouble from ntors, cliche nonsense such as ntors killing students in and outside the academy would not happen.
Anyway, ntors were assigned the privileges of watching students go at it against each other despite not being allowed to intervene in student drama.
But most of the ti they didn’t really pay attention to these things. But Kailen Darkhaven was different. It was not even because he was a special enrollnt student that they paid attention to him.
He was simply too interesting. To turn three gangs against each other through psychological manipulation and eliminate them before they ca looking for trouble from him.
To think he’d also complete that impossible mission in such a short ti. He really didn’t disappoint. He was really ant to thrive in chaos, and the universe was chaotic.
Oblivious to the thoughts of the ntors, Kailen stood in one of the empty combat arenas.
His eyes scanned through the students ranked a bit higher than him.
Kailen selected a rank 5 beginner stage Dao level lifeform.
[ Student, Aster Morph, rank 200,000 should head to combat arena, 5009 now ]
Many observed curiously. So scorned the lowest ranked student for his overconfidence.
So who took him more seriously placed bets on him winning. Others who deed him careless placed bets on him losing in a landslide.
Aster Morph, the elf, sighed.
What made this new student so confident?
Best to get this over with. If soone thought they could use him as a stepping stone during the ranking battles, then he’d be glad to teach them a lesson or two, and if possible send them on their way to et death.
Aster did not deem himself overly exceptional in this academy full of crazy geniuses. However, he was not too weak either.
A glint of coldness flashed through his eyes as he headed into the arena.
Kailen saw the look on Aster’s face. It was one of enmity. The guy did not even hide his murderous intent.
Kailen almost chuckled.
"What is wrong with this dude? This is a ranking battle. If you die, it’s because you are simply weak. It’s how the academy works. Either you adapt or you die. Why the need for hatred?" Kailen sighed.
With the eyes of the crowd glued to them, the chanical voice of the AI bot resounded for them to begin the battle .
