Eventually, several individuals arrived in the mountain range. These were rank 4 novice stage Transcendents. Eventually, they approached the wrecked airship on the ground. There were several blood stains spread across the ground too.

"Soone managed to get to them before us," the leader of the assassins said. He turned to one of the mbers. "Contact the one who hired us."

"Yes, sir," the person replied.

The call went through. A holographic screen of a man appeared before them. He was an elf with arrogant and deep eyes.

"How far?" the man said.

"See for yourself," the leader of the assassins said. They switched the screen to face the wrecked spaceship and the bloodstained ground.

"You killed all of them? The assignnt was to get rid of the ones escorting him and bring him in for interrogation. Why did you kill him too? Godamnit!" The man was very furious.

The leader of the assassins rolled his eyes. "Soone got here before us. They are definitely the ones behind this. It seems the unknown variable who caused a lot of trouble earlier on was also eliminated in the end."

The man on the holographic screen sighed. Why could the other powers in the city not be like him? Did they have to go and kill everyone, including the count? Now, no one would know the location of the place naturally teeming with principle Fragnts.

"Well, at least those Caravan Transport Agency bastards in Veyrath City won’t be able to have access to it either. You can return."

The leader of the assassins nodded, then instructed the subordinate to end the call. The group disappeared from the place as if they had never been there.

News about the death of Count Vonte Cristo and the Caravan Transport Agency people transferring him to the Caravan Transport Agency HQ quickly reached the ones who were after him. Each power quietly assud that one of the powers in the city was most likely behind this occurrence. They all sighed reluctantly.

However, they still decided to search the mountain range outside the city for a while, just in case, for so impossible reason, anybody from the group had managed to escape. But, as they expected, no one was found in the mountain range after they searched every nook and cranny of it.

They had all died. The matter was put to rest and everyone forgot about it.

Kailen sighed in relief. Currently, he was in a very deep region of a cave with the count. He had chosen to hide in this location because it was the perfect place where he deduced no one would co looking for them.

He had activated his principle of space, observing the fellows patrolling the mountain range for several days. Eventually, they left, drawing conclusions that everyone in the spaceship had died.

"The plan worked perfectly. But this was a close call. Good thing I didn’t take any chances and hid well," Kailen mused.

They waited for another day, just to be sure no one was lurking around, and left the cave.

The cave was near the Western forest at the border of Veyrath City. Kailen and the Count crossed the distance with ease, eventually arriving at Veyrath City. Without wasting any ti, they proceeded to the Bronbree district of Veyrath City.

At the edge of the Bronbree district, a female elf and a male dwarf were waiting for them. The mont Kailen arrived with the count, he simply showed them the badge.

A knowing glint flashed through their eyes. The female elf said, "Follow ."

Kailen and the count nodded. They moved through several alleys and appeared in a main street, eventually arriving before a tall skyscraper which peered through the clouds. The words Caravan Transport Agency floated across the entrance, which was being entered and exited by several transcendents from different races.

Kailen and the count followed the two leading them and entered the building. Eventually, they arrived at a high floor where they entered a lounge and served so refreshnts. Very soon, Brushstroke and his other n arrived at the place.

"Good to see you again, Mr. Darkhaven. Thanks to you, we managed to survive. Don’t know how to thank you," Brushstroke said on behalf of his clique.

"Was just focusing on the mission, sir," Kailen replied warmly.

Brushstroke was a bit taken aback by his response. But he realized he had been carried away. This man was not a hero. He was an academy student on an academy mission. He had only acted according to his interests.

"What a terrifying person," he thought. This ant that if the only alternative had been to flee, Mr. Darkhaven would have abandoned them and run.

"I see." He didn’t feel offended. The universe operated on profits and personal interests. "Still..." he added, "thank you."

Kailen nodded warmly. "You’re welco."

Eventually, the elf and the dwarf returned with one of the higher ups of the organisation. The person exchanged a few pleasantries with Kailen, after which Kailen was invited to stay as a guest of the organization for a few days. However, he politely declined the offer and left as quickly as he arrived.

He had completed the academy mission. Everyone stared at his retreating back. This fellow was unpredictable, scheming, and dangerous. So this was the winner of the NGU Competition and the first transcendent from the light region, huh. What sort of waves would he create in the empire in the future?

The powers in Solmaria City received news a week later that they had been outsmarted. They had been played through and through.

The wrecked spaceship, blood stains—it had all been a scam. None of those escorting the Count, including the count himself, had died. They had staged the situation to deceive them, create a diversion, and escape.

To think they had been thoroughly outsmarted. They sighed and accepted their defeat. So even let out chuckles of self-mockery when they thought about the situation.

But who among those transporting the count could have played them like chess pieces on a board? To have achieved such a feat, that person should be soone who could have anticipated their every move and every contingency, as well as their psychology.

But, that was a question they would never have an answer to.
